I dont think so. I dont believe the new head coach and staff is all that enamored in what he provides to the team particularly at what it will costs to pay him.

They might not want him around to compete for minutes with their draft pick but I'd be surprised if they didn't extend him that offer. Now I highly doubt they match any qualifying offer from another team.

But I think the Sixers are going to try and trade Turner and/or Young and/or Hawes for whatever they can get and ensure more losing. And Hinke wouldn't trade a draft pick for Valanciunas. Some other GM looking for instant help might but this is Morey's brain child. If anything, the talk is the Sixers trade their pick along with New Orlean's pick to get up to 1/2 assuming they lose the lottery.

I think that Parker and Wiggins are superstars. Look at Wiggins box from last night....terrible shooting but his defense was excellent. I think that is one place people are missing on him. "He looks so inconsistent on offense! He can't shoot!" without realizing he is already playing fantastic defense.

I haven't watched randle enough to have an expert opinion, but webber was an inch taller, had a much bigger wingspan (>4 inches) and had some of the biggest hands I've ever seen. I don't think they are physically great comps.

Well I think people are dissecting these kids a ton this year looking for reasons to hate them since they got so much hype. Granted there are some red flags with all these kids (Wiggins can disappear, Parker has trouble with double-teams, Randle's lack of steals, etc), but it just minor quibbles being blown out of proportion for 19 year olds still developing games against real defenses/offenses for the first time.

That Cuse-Duke game had 4 legitimate first round picks playing (Ennis, Grant, Parker, Hood), another guy that may end up being productive in the league (Fair), and another guy who I wouldn't be shocked end up as a 3-point specialist for some smart team (Dawkins), and you'd probably want everyone of those first round guys over anyone in last years draft.

I agree with this. At this time, last year, almost no one had seen these guys play. They just knew of their reputations. Now people have started to actually watch them and can see their different weaknesses, so now that's what people are focusing on. All in all, there is a lot of great talent.

Yeah, this is pretty much on point. The prevailing sentiment is certainly that Turner will be gone, but it will be interesting to see how they will get to the cap floor. Without Turner, they will only have 23 million committed for next year (a quarter of which is Jason Richardson's player option). And if they were to trade Young this year for dead money, they would only have 14 million committed.

I agree, you see this dissection thing all the time when there's huge hype. Everyone knew Wiggins was still raw, shouldn't really be a huge surprise. He just oozes potential, just like Parker in a different way.

I don't think the concerns with Randle are minor quibbles, though. He's a PF with only a 6"11 wingspan and not much range on his jumper so far. Nothing minor about that.

First thing we'd need to agree on is if Pau helps them enough to win a series. I'd agree that it would be a good decision, both basketball and business wise, to give up Indy's or their own pick if he was the difference in winning a round. I don't think he is. Phoenix likely finishes in the 6-8 spot and Pau isn't enough of an addition for them to beat SA, POR or OKC.

Using all 4 picks is a pretty bad idea for the reasons you stated, but that doesn't mean they have to give them away.

Use them to facilitate a trade between two others teams, trade up a few spots if there is a guy they are targeting, trade for picks in future years, package with other players, etc.

Lots of options instead of just renting a player that isn't going to help them short term or long term.

This makes it sound like LAL was only interested in Phoenix's two potentially top 17 picks. Phoenix might be willing to do a later first round pick for the reasons you describe, but in an allegedly deep draft there's no way you deal a top 20 pick for a couple months of Gasol, who may not be the perfect fit for the style they are playing anyway.

In a vacuum, Kyrie is the better player obviously. But Kyrie clearly doesn't want to play here. Waiters just doesn't want to play with Kyrie. If you trade Waiters, you probably end up with neither in a couple years. I think with a pass-first PG, Waiters could be a 20 ppg guy.

Take two top 10 picks in this draft and hopefully shake things up.

I don't think you could get a top 5 for Kyrie but probably a little later in the lottery. One of the things that hurts him is he only has one most season before he gets paid the max. A top 5 pick won't see big money for the first four years.

I think that was a UNC-leaning columnist piece. Dean Smith hated Barnes, which means everyone affiliated with UNC hated Barnes. I was at the game and I thought it was hilarious that Barnes went to check in, so I kind of liked the guy after that
