Ty Lawson would have been great too. I kind of assumed he would never be an option.

I wonder what Carlisle could do with JaVale. Dallas doesn't have the salary to make that work though. Not sure if Mozgov would work either. Is he much of a rim protector?

If Mozgov were available the Cavs would also be very interested in him.

Koufos is also "unhappy" with how Memphis is using him.

Good question. Right now, there probably isn't that much available. But there also wasn't a reason that Dallas had to make this move now. In a month maybe they could have gotten a guy like Chalmers and not had to give up Wright. Avery Bradley. Maybe Dragic if the Suns keep falling off pace (he isn't the greatest defender but he is a big improvement from what they have). The Knicks like to give away players so maybe Hardaway. And as others have said, Lawson or Watson.

As you say, they're getting #### on offense from their PGs but they still have the best offense in the league. They didn't need help there. They just needed guys who could hold their on the defensive end and was a threat to shoot from the outside.

I don't hate the move. Any time you can get a top tier player for very little, you should likely do it. I just question whether he is a good fit there.

You're missing the obvious Jose Calderon.

FWIW, Zach Lowe thinks this is a move more for next year than anything. They are in 6th anyway, so it's not like they are breaking up the Bulls.

 
Isaiah Thomas is apparently on the block. He would have probably have been cheaper and would have been a big upgrade on Barea even though they are similar types of players.

Great shooter but Calderon was a terrible defender at his peak. He'd be challenging Lin for the worst defense in the league right now.

no i think they will no trade him i have heard no rumors about that at all on sportstalk here right now he is getting a lot of love but hey a paper bag full of rotten tomatos would get love from milwaukee after brandon jennings that guy was bad news i like crowder actually though and got to see him play here for marquette he could turn in to something i think take that to the bank bromigos

He'd fit but the Bucks are going to be battling for a playoff spot (Eastern Conference :thumbup: ) and I doubt the new ownership would make a move like that which could hurt them short term.

 
also brohans he has looked pretty darn good to be honest i think they will try to get him to stick around i mean if you let him go who are your replacing him with that is how i look at it take that to the bank

So either the entire offense adapts to his playmaking, taking the ball out of Dirk's and Ellis' hands, or he plays off the ball and kills their spacing. Big changes. They've certainly got the coach to do it but it isn't without risk. I think they'd be just as far ahead getting a good shooting PG who can play a little D and keeping Wright.

Doesn't think the Mavs needed to make a move, and fears Rondo's need to control the ball will make the team less efficient.They do mention Dallas' poor play against playoff teams, and that the strategic goal is to add a player with big time planking skills that can lead a run, or at least be the 2nd best player come the playoffs.

Obviously I like the move, but now that I slept on it, I concede there is risk.

If this were virtually any other franchise I'd hate it. He's wildly overrated as a defender, and on the offensive end changing anything at all for the Mavs is like doing plastic surgery on Adriana Lima. But I just assume Rick Carlisle has a master plan that's way beyond my comprehension.

Its too bad he couldn't swallow his pride and take on a different role. He'd be a big help as a 6th man for a team like Detroit or Philly.

 
Bulls with good win in Memphis sans Rose & Gibson. Mirotic is so smooth. Dude already plays like a 10 year vet. If/when he improves his post game (and gets stronger), he'll be a star. Made a great transition so far from overseas.

Also, I think the Mavs have a pretty strong board contingent. We're just a quiet bunch compared to the Raptors/Heat/Lakers/Dubs group. Not sure why. Love our team. Love Cuban. Gonna have to try and work for that man someday.

 


Two buses of Raptors fans made the journey to The Palace of Auburn Hills to take advantage of the plentiful tickets. Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri rode part of the way in each bus and distributed free t-shirts to those on board.

Kobe is definitely in on operation get a top pick. It looked like he put himself back in the game last night. He's certainly capable of making tough shots but that's pretty much all he takes nowadays.
