LA should still be the favorite to win it all, but...

ETA. Give me a break with the injury footnote. Make the bet like a man or don't.
:goodposting:
If it was a one team vs. one team bet of course I would. But with this bet, the Lakers vs. the World, I can demand the injury proviso. Still good odds for Moops.
WTF does moops have to do with anything, it was me who you challenged. Then later, with a caveat. :lmao:
He accepted, you didn't. And the caveat was there from the start.

Wrong, I accepted that stupid challenge the minute I saw it. What you really mean to say is: another board member jumped all over my silly proposition because he knew it was easy money and wanted to take advantage. And now that his actions have opened my eyes a bit, I am unwilling to back up my comments...and especially so because I am about to get off the hook altogether, thank god.

This is some weak sauce.

I think its pretty amazing that Paul is beating the Lakers damn near by himself. He is out rebounding everybody (28) in the series other than Bynum (40) and Ariza (32), out scoring everybody (102), has more assists (46) than the top three Lakers combined (Kobe, Fisher and Pau with a total of 45).

Tis has been a great basketball season, but Chris Paula play agains the lakers has been the best part. Phenomenal display again last night.

He's been amazing, hard to watch as a Laker fan, but taking a step back, watching as a basketall fan, its been a joy. I was on the Chris Paul bandwagon early in his career and kinda got off when he was going through his injuries and trade requests but I'm back.Best PG in the league and it's really not close. Hoping he stays healthy, really has a great shot at the second best PG of all time ranking.

I don't understand this post, but fine. If you want to bet $100 on the same conditions, we'll do that too. If you think betting against the Lakers is easy money, take your chances, I'm game.

Done. So long as none of the Lakers key players get hurt- their 5 starters plus Lamar Odom.
Just curious about the Tim-Moops bet -- what is considered "hurt"? Missing a full game?
No, unless its a game 7, or a decisive loss in a series. I'm not going to claim victory on this bet over a lame excuse. It's got to be an injury affecting mulitple games, or one of the decisive games that clearly had a factor in their defeat.

I think Lakers get out of first round in 6 games but IF (and still a big if) Portland prevails over Dallas they will be a difficult opponent for LA in round 2. I think if Lakers play lazy in one of those two games at home which is very possible, Portland wins that series. Lakers have always had their struggles at the Rose Garden.

Portland vs Dallas Game 5 is a huge game tonight. I think Dallas will probably get the victory because every one of the games in this series has went to the home team but Dallas might come out flat after giving up a game like they did on Saturday. I hope Portland can use the momentum from that game to upset Dallas at home. Roy getting the energy from the crowd like he did in Game 3 and especially 4 will be a lot harder on the road. will be a fun one to watch.

Whoa. I went to see the Pixies last night and came home wasted. I forgot all about this bet with tim.

I wish all my drunken decisions were as good as this.

Knicks Gone Fishin'. Love It. Chuck and Kenny summed it up pretty well with them. They're a long long long ways from being a contender. Need a PG, an identity, some sort of chemistry, someone to play defense, someone to rebound. They got 2 good offensive players. Cupboard is pretty bare after that.
You think it might have had something to do with the fact that Billups and Amare got hurt? Would love to see Miami without D-Wade and either Bosh/James they would have gotten swept by Philly. Knicks are not that far away, having an actual offseason together should help thier chemistry and Im sure they will get better pieces in the offseason if Donnie Walsh is still the GM.

So just to be clear ... the argument is that Billups = Wade, and that the difference between healthy Amare and back back Amare is the same as the difference between healthy Bosh or James and no Bosh or James? That's what you're saying here?

Think Melo and Amare are going to spend a lot (or any?) of time together in the summer working on their games with each other?

Wouldn't working on their games together be pretty similar to pregame warm ups where they both have a ball and they just jack up shot after shot? They might do some of that.

I think if the Spurs don't win tonight, they're done. I can't believe how much Memphis has handled them in the post. Should be interesting to see how they respond...

The Knicks need to make a coaching move this offseason imo.

LaLa probably has other plans - most likely some time on the Hamptons with Jay-Z and Sean whatever he calls himself filming a reality show or something like that. Then Melo will probably try to get on a bunch of TV shows and commercials.......basketball is job #2.

the interior defense has been awful this series for SA. tonight they seem to be rebounding well enough but the griz have guys that are attacking the basket.

Just speculating ahead for a moment (because its the FFA and we can)- what would a Grizzlies- Thunder matchup look like? Probably the Thunder would be heavily favored, but anyone think the Randolph-Gasol combo would create some headaches?

Perkins/Ibaka is better than Duncan and whatever caddy his has out there.

We are used to Kobe Bryant and company wrecking the Tim Duncan legacy, but the Lakers farm team without their best player? Has an all time great ever flamed out in the playoffs this shamefully?

time to break up this team, i think. next year splitter and start alongside timmy, who will rebound and block shots. manu off the bench again. jefferson is a nightmare contract. so they will need to look for a SG with some athleticism and some depth along the frontline.

Bigger upset?06-07 Warriors over Mavs or Grizzlies over Spurs?
Certainly the Warriors. There has been a lot of talk about the Spurs aging and most people didn't give them much of a chance to make it out of the West. That wasn't the case for the Mavs back then.

i thought the way the spurs were beaten last year against the suns was embarrassing. i credit memphis here tonight because they haven taken the Spurs' lunch.

FYI Local Morning show called up Duncan in his hotel room at about 5:30am this morning and woke him up to sing him "Happy BOOOday". He listened for about 25 seconds then hung up. :lmao:

Wonder if that had anything at all to do with his dismal performance?

ha.the griz have executed their game plan to perfection really. they have defended the perimeter pretty well and take away the 3 pters. they have clogged the lane to keep parker and ginobli from penetrating. it's been great coaching, really, from hollins. he's had his guys hustling and just playing hungry.
