If I were a Wolves homer, I'd be hoping for a big first half from Beasley so he can be dealt at the deadline. Williams needs to play 30-35 minutes a night ASAP.W. Johnson has been in Adelman's doghouse so far this year. Not sure why, but when Rubio is in, Tolliver and/or Ellington are in the game. Haven't really seen Johnson on the floor with Rubio much this year. As for Williams, I like what I've seen so far. At the Heat game on Friday night, Williams showed little/no fear on the offensive end. On defense? He drew LeBron (if you heard the fan yelling "HELP!" while LeBron had the ball, that was me...lol). But he looked pretty good with/without the ball on Friday night, and had Rubio been a half-second faster on his reads/progressions on a couple of trips down the court, Williams would have had a certain #6 in the bottom of his poster as he went up to rock the rim.Not saying guys will be all-stars or anything. Love's the only all-star of the bunch (and I suppose Rubio has a chance in a couple seasons too). But if Love and Rubio are Love and Rubio, the other 13 guys don't need to be all-stars. Just hit your open jumpers, play some solid D, and move well with/without the ball.

As you know I've always been a Redick homer. He's on the wire in my league - currently the #41 overall player. I'm wondering whether the burn he's currently getting (26 mpg) is going to last? He's a career 43% shooter, so a 55% first week screams hot streak to me. Then again, Gordon Heyward isn't doing much on my bench either.

Ugh, just sickening. So much promise, but his head/heart is where the issues is. Really hope the Kings don't trade him away for peanuts. Seems like many of the Kings are frustrated by the offensive flow right now... and this might be contributing to Cousins' issues. But wow, the season has only just begun. Give it some time before making a stink about it. Plus, if the season spirals out of control, Westphal won't last, imo, and a new coach and a new O will be in place before too long.
I'm beginning to feel this way as well. I'm disappointed as his on-court demeanor has been markedly improved this year, I thought. He's got more than a little Ron Artest-type crazy going on, I fear.Also, while I'd hate for the Kings to fire Westphal now because it would look like they are pandering to Cousins, this team is extremely poorly coached.

Obviously he's not going to shoot 55% for the year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets up to 28-29 MPG. He does a lot of other things well, particularly good D.

Al Harrington is looking REALLY good so far this year. For most of the fourth quarter he has been playing center and covering Bogut, hes shut down Bogut defensively and is absolutely abusing him on offense.
The Nuggets look like they have way more energy than the Bucks late in the fourth quarter in the third game of a back to back. This Nuggets team is going to be very good once they can get some of the Chinese exports back.

Tough to get good looks near the basket when you don't have a point guard and none of your wings are especially good or willing passers.
But, but, but...I thought the Timberwolves were going to be forced to trade Ricky Rubio to the Knicks for a couple practice balls and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2075, since he will NEVER, EVER play one minute in a Minnesota uniform? Since as you know, Minnesota is a God-foresaken ####-hole that is -60F 10.5 months out of the year, where all the women are 5'4", 260 pounds, and there is nothing to do except drink and bowl or play pool. (or is that Green Bay? lol) What happened to all of that stuff anyway?
Edited to add: Timberwolves management are also complete MAROONS for not drafting DeMarcus Cousins at 1.04 in last year's draft as well. My goodness, how have ~5 million people not committed suicide by now?

What you don't like Toney Douglass? He's Billups lite. He chucks up ill timed 3's like his mentor and plays a mean defense until his guy crosses the mid court line then he forgets how to stay in front of his guy. How can a team lose when it's starting PF plays 33 minutes and is 0-4 shooting (all 3 pt attempts by the way) and only grabs 5 boards?
Don't get too carried away, Kahn has made some very horrible picks. Passing up Steph Curry to draft Johny Flynn was a gem. Oh yeah...don't get me started! Curry is EXACTLY what the Wolves need right now in their starting line-up, and Kahn threw that away. That said, the Wolves have been the butt of SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many jokes in the national media over the past several years. And I hope Bill Simmons and all the other folks who've been going out of their way to kick the Minnesota fan base while they're down are choking on it. As they're sucking on it. I don't remember this much excitement around Timberwolves basketball since Garnett, Cassell, and Sprewell. And the fans are really loving Love, Rubio, and Adelman. I really like Douglas and think he could be an excellent player, but he needs some guidance on how to at least pretend to be a point guard. I think his long term spot is as a third guard who guns on the second unit.

He's in perhaps the worst situation in the league. He plays with 3 black holes on the perimeter. 5 assists is the most any player on the Kangs has this year. Part of DMC's really poor shooting is directly related to his teammates. Only 37% of his baskets were assisted last season. That is an incredibly low number and lead the league for PFs by a large margin. This season only 23.5% were assisted.

4-6 weeks it looks like. The good news is that it means more time for young players like Anderson and Leonard. Heck, Jefferson is playing better. For whatever reason he seems to play better as the 3rd man in the trio. His numbers are pretty good but then again he started out well last year before fading over the season. Regardless, I think this is a good thing for SA. It should mean that they will drop to a lower seed in the playoff hunt.

sorry, two separate thoughts. 1. Spurs need need those younger players to get some real playing time. They need to know what they have going forward.2. dropping to a lower seed is not a good thing but to be expected given the impact Manu has on the team.

Man the Knicks are terrible. Ugliest offense I think I've ever seen. Pass the ball a couple times then left Anthony try and go one on five. Can't beat a Raptors team who were on their 3rd game in four nights... wow.

Warriors defense didn't travel with them to Phoenix. It hurt David Lee was out and Curry reached himself into foul trouble, but they still could have won that game. After solid defensive showings against the Clippers, Bulls, and Knicks they played iffy against the 6ers @ home and terrible against the Suns away.
Since people like jumping to conclusions: Warriors beat the Bulls without Curry, but have lost games when Ellis (76ers) and Lee (Suns) are out. Time to trade Curry.
Ellis despite shooting terribly (his shot selection is decent actually) has been playing a pretty damn good floor game so far averaging 8.5 dimes a game. His defense is still suspect, but within this scheme for 3/4 games he's played the Warriors have done well. They definitely needed him against the 76ers b/c he is probably the lone Warrior player who could knife through that defense. Ellis is not the perfect player, but he's still better than a lot of the SGs out there same tier as Kevin Martin.
David Lee has been worlds better in this offense. Smart loved to post up/iso David Lee which is not the best way to use him. The assists numbers are not there yet but the Dubs are using him more in PnR and running the offense through him in the high post, way better use off Lee's skills as a dive man or pick and pop threat to the defense and allowing Curry and Ellis to play off the ball and become scorers. His man defense seems better (actually fighting big men for position out of the key), but it seems to be cutting into his rebound numbers some.
Curry has looked much better this year running the show. He still gets careless with the ball at times, but his PG skills have the Warrior offense humming. The thing that excites me the most is he looks better on the defensive end. Until last night he didn't reach as much and he's doing a much better job of keeping guys in front of him. He added some muscle this off-season and its showing up on the defensive end.
So far the Warriors have been getting great contributions from the rest of the team, but the Big 3 really need to step it up on the offensive end. They're doing a great job of getting others involved, but their % have been horrendous (you could add Dorell Wright into that mix). Will be excited if the Big 3 and Wright can get their shooting woes fixed, while the role players can continue their surprisingly effective play.
Thoughts on other teams:
- 76ers - what a defensive unit. They made it impossible for the Dubs to penetrate. Holiday was giving Curry fits that game with his lock down D. Evan Turner still doesn't looks lost out there without the ball in his hands. Brand looks old and slow.
- Suns - Markief Morris looks like a solid NBA big man. He plays tough inside on defense, rebounds, but can hit the jump shot. Would rather have Morris over Udoh and even Klay Thompson.
- Nuggets - I was wrong. These guys still play hard. They're a lock for playoffs.

No set plays, just all five players racing down the court and shooting with 20 seconfd left on the shot clock. Way, way too many low percentage jump shots!!!!Man the Knicks are terrible. I'm holding off judgement until BD plays. D'Antoni like Nellie needs actual PGs for their "offense" to work. Their scheme rely a lot on the PG getting penetration into the lane and dishing out.However, what we're seeing now is exactly why I hated the Knicks team pre- offseason. I've said it before you can't build a championship team when your 2 best players main NBA skill is SCORING. Be fair to Melo, he has been playing very very well so far this year and is passing the ball well for a SF. Melo isn't even part of the problem.I watched it all and it sure wasn't pretty. When there isn't another offensive threat on floor, teams are going to be all over him forcing a pass or take a bad shot (which there were plenty of last night).And Melo definitely is part of the problem. Not that those of us in NYC can actually watch this mess, but they are currently playing without 3 of their best 8 guys (Amare, BS, Shumpert) and still have the 2.5 million dollar exemption to presumably sign Kenyon Martin in March. I really think you could build a team around Melo, you just can't build one around Melo and Amare when they both have max contracts.He really doesn't have much of a choice.
