Charlotte was paid a 1st rounder, essentially, this offseason to take Ben Gordon. The Pistons thought he had a negative value to their team, I don't think he'll be the player a Gasol trade is built around.ETA: It gives the Lakers almost no added flexibility, he has a player option for $13.2 million next year that he'll surely be exercising. This is egregious even by your standards. I don't think that rumor is all that bad. Gasol doesn't exactly have a ton of trade value right now. Plus shedding the salary is a huge part of this for the Lakers. Gordon helps their bench, they get an asset in the draft pick, and they retain some flexibility as far as the roster is concerned going forward. If Laker fans are hoping for some blockbuster that allows them to compete with the elite teams in the West I think they will be disappointed. Even the rich teams like the Lakers are going to try and avoid the tax now if at all possible.Would most certainly need to have a 1st rounder from Charlotte in there. Or MKG. Or MKG and a pick. Thats a terrible rumor.Miguel Angel Paniagua: Rumor with some legs from Charlotte- DeSagana Diop, Ben Gordon and a draft pick for Pau Gasol.
That is lik the worst rumor ever. Lakers cant be anywhere close to that desperate yet.
