*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (4 Viewers)

Things I learned from this thread:

Any isolation scorer automatically sucks (Kobe, Melo, Gay)

Any post player with a decent offensive game is infinitely better than the isolation scorers (Horford, LaMarcus Aldrige, Noah)

History shows that the isolation players have a repeated history of leading their respective teams to the playoffs while the others mentioned are checkered at best.

Raptors are rebuilding yet again but with so much suck in their history fans don't seem to mind or even bat an eye

Coming into the season the Nets were the best team some argued favorites over the Heat

Rudy Gay is the worst of the worst. (Bro don't even mention PER although we will continue to use it for every other statistical discussion)

The Magic have a squad and rebuilt the right way. (don't mind the bad record they are tanking this year and next year it gets serious)

Houston can trade Asik for pretty much any player in the league right now.
You know you got a lot wrong when TGunz gives you an "Exactly".

1. The fans want to tank this year because of Andrew Wiggins, who is of course a Canadian. This is the first, and maybe only, time that the fans here have overwhelmingly pushed for a tank. I don't know of any Raptors fans who don't want too see them lose this year.

2. Yes the Raps do have only suck in their history, but every professional sports team has sucked horribly here for the last 5 years, at minimum. So as a fan base we've become conditioned to have no expectations about any kind of winning here. At all.

More like you know made a great point when Cliff Clavin can't even respond back to one of your points.

And this may be the first actual tank/rebuild. The previous terrible years have been due to horrible management.

I can respond the points which were directed towards me if you'd like.

As in my previous post, the Raptors have never actually gone through a rebuild process. They've just been terribly managed to bad but not terrible teams. As long as I can remember this is the first true 'blow it up'.

PER is useless when comparing a player with a 30% usage to a player with a 13% usage. Spend a few minutes reading up on PER and looking at the formula before giving out a sarcastic response.

Lowe does a pretty good job of summarizing how terrible Gay is.

Its ok man sometimes I just think you take things too far in regards to Melo and Kobe and to a lesser degree Gay. The Raptors comment was a jab at you because I know you like them.

I do. Some of it is shtick and some is that I just hate that style of play,

Isn't Rudy Gay's PER terrible this year? Why would anyone that doesn't like him be hesitant to bring it up?

Its 15.9. It was brought up when trying to figure out who was worse; Salmons or Gay.
Has there ever been a trade in which both fan bases were so beside themselves with excitement over getting rid of the player they shipped out?
Knicks fans were pretty excited to get rid of Novak we all know Raps reaction getting rid of Bargnani

After watching the Pacers/Heat game last night, I can't wait for the NBA playoffs to get here. It is going to be fun as long as the Pacers/Heat matchup happens and most of the matchups in the west are intriguing.

Im looking forward to how the Pacers play next Wednesday when they travel to Miami to play the Heat.

Ben Gordon for Maggette?
Tracy McGrady for Jordan Hill?

Rockets coach Kevin McHale leaves team due to mother’s death

Rockets coach Kevin McHale, missed a second consecutive day of practice Wednesday after his mother Josephine Patricia Starcevich McHale passed away on Tuesday night in Minnesota, according to a team official.

The funeral services will be held on Friday and there is no official word when McHale will return.

The Rockets left Wednesday afternoon on their West Coast trip to Portland on Thursday, Golden State on Friday and Sacramento on Sunday.

Assistant coach Kelvin Sampson has taken over coaching duties. Sampson said he had a long talk with McHale on Wednesday morning.

Of McHale’s return, Sampson said, “That’s his call.”

Guard James Harden said he was praying for his coach and that the team misses him.

“It’s tough,” Harden said. “He is our leader. He is our mentor. It’s a sad story for his family. We are praying for him and hoping he can come back soon, whenever he is ready.”
I feel so bad for him. This after losing his 23 year old daughter last year. :(

Lowry rumoured to go to the Knicks.

Not sure what deal makes sense. Knicks don't have any 1st rounder picks to trade until 2018. Can't see Messiah taking on Felton's deal. Knicks don't have any decent sized expiring deals or really, any good players. Maybe Shumpert and Udrih but that can't happen till the 15th.

It's funny that you don't even entertain the worst case scenario. It'd make my month if your favorite team landed Carmelo Anthony.

Would never happen. Knicks management is dumb enough to think that Melo can lead them to a title. They aren't trading him.

Will be so pissed if Knicks give Shump and Hardaway. Would be okay with either one but not both along with Felton.

I can't believe that Uriji would find Shump or Hardaway valuable enough to take on 2+ years of Felton for his best trade asset.

The New York Knicks are pursuing Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry with a package of Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace and a 2018 first-round draft pick, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Yahoo! Sports - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

The 1st would nice... but not worth 2 years of Felton :X

hey you knwo who was really bad bobby simmons for the bucks a couple of years ago he was horrible take that to the bank brohans

Why not? He's better than Jeremy Lin, right?
Tallest midget.
Don't forget, you'll be getting Metta World Peace too! Good thing he signed with his hometown team.

I'd bank on him getting bought out asap. Although he'd bring some entertainment in what looks to be a painful year.

I don't think it'd be too bad to take back Felton to get a 1st.

He sucks, but he's only making $4 mill/year. For a veteran back-up, it's not outrageous. Hell, it's only half what Landry Field will make next year.

BTW, why are the Raps so eager to trade Lowry anyway? He's pretty good and still not very that old. Do they just not trust to stay healthy after the deal he's about to get?

Attitude and tank city. Also, he's on an expiring deal.

He'd help them win games this year and as No16 said, he isn't the best "presence" for a young team. He is gone in the summer so get what they can. Toronto is going to want to get a good look at Vasquez so they can decide what to do with him this summer, which means a minute cut for Lowry. He also doesn't seem to fit what Uriji wants in a PG (he wants pass first).

Taking Felton back wouldn't be so bad if NY's pick was not 5 years away. Too much of a crap shoot for what that pick may be.

Garnett really needs to be coming off the bench if he's getting minutes right now. Guy's been brutal all year & looks done. Really should have called it a career last offseason. Blatche is a far superior player at this point.

LaMarcus Aldridge unreal 2nd half tonight (24&16). Houston really should have put Dwight on him. Terrence Jones was no contest.

Random question for the homies:

So, Lebron and KD are clearly the best two players in the league. Who are your next 8 to round out the top ten? I'm talking right now, this year. So don't give me Drummond if you don't think he's there at this point in time.

Here's mine in spoilers IN ORDER:

3. Chris Paul

4. Paul George :h:

5. James Harden

6. Kevin Love

7. Steph Curry

8. Anthony Davis INJ

9. DeMarcus Cousins

10. John Wall
Rip away and give yours!
LaMarus Aldridge with 38 and 13 tonight as the Blazers move to 16-3. Wins over San Antonio, Indiana and OKC. He has to be in the conversation for MVP.Nope. Good team though
31 and 25 tonight. :coffee:
