*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (3 Viewers)

Dudes, how's Craig Sager doing? Wife wanted to know. Didn't find anything on a quick google search but I didn't dig too deep.

Kobe's attacking the rim, with contested jumpers.
He's only missed 9 shots tonight. Hasn't made any, but he's keeping his misses down.
It's obviously great fun to make fun of Kobe doing work, but of the Laker games I've caught this year, they actually seem to be playing better tonight than usual.
It's the first game that I've seen where Kobe has been a willing passer. Makes a pretty big difference.

Agreed. I should probably retract the compliment at this point though. They are terrible.

Hawks with 4 wins in a row. They've started the season well. Tonight's game @Cle should be interesting. If they could win tonight then they have a good shot at being 8-3 with games against the Wizards And Raptors after that.

Also, even though completely unsustainable, there's not much in the NBA so far this year more impressive than Kyle Korver leading the NBA with almost 4 threes a game, while knocking them down at a .577 clip.

While that's a wonderful compliment it's laughable. I've been a fan 40 years and I can assure you they are nothing like the Spurs.
I wouldn't say that at all. They've developed a similar organizational philosophy in terms of building the team and utilizing the players, and are being coached brilliantly by a straight-up Pop disciple.

They've scooped up undervalued assets and gotten them to buy into their team-first philosophy, and it's paying dividends.

They've got years of success to go before they can be mentioned in the same breath in terms of anything but philosophy, but I'm certainly not the first person to make that connection. I think it's their spoken intention to try to ape the Spurs' successful methods, and I think they've built a nice little unit to do a non-embarrassing job of it. It's not a compliment at all -- it's an observation. Of course, staying healthy enough to get more than just a tiny bit of success is a big first step. They looked on the way to relevance last year prior to the Horford debacle, and they're right back on track this year.

Big fan of this team and the direction they're pointed. Huge Bud fan.

I mean I like to bag on Kobe as much as the next guy, and I understand the other guys on the team are shooting at a higher clip, but do you really think they'd be better if if he deferred more to Boozer and the rest of those clowns? He's in a no-win situation (I understand much of that is his own doing, so no sympathy) but I still think this team's best chance to win is for Kobe to get a ton of shots up.

It isn't about deferring. It is about making the right play. Last night he was actively looking to pass and the team played rather well. Had his shot been falling they may have had a chance at winning. The previous 7-8 games all he did was look for his own at the expense of his team. Yes, his teammates are terrible but they're still able to make shots if they're involved in the offence. That stretch he had a few years back when he was getting 10-12 assists a night is what the team needs. Not him getting a wildly inefficient 25 points a night.

LOL. If only Kobe knew how to play winning basketball as well as Cliff from the interwebz.

I know this is off topic but the discussion of a new Bucks arena is beginning in Milwaukee. And, with the announcement today of the next few cities hosting a Final Four coming down today... is this a play the new owners could attempt for the future?

Build a new arena with us and we will bring a Final Four to Milwaukee. It would be something great for this city since Chicago has never had it although Chicago and Milwaukee have hosted rounds before the final four. Minneapolis has had it a number of times. Putting one in Milwaukee will get fans from Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin as far as local goes. Then, Milwaukee does have an airport that has flights from the country coming here. Plus, O'Hare is only a 90 minutes away.

Any chance this could be worked out between the NBA and NCAA behind closed doors to a proposal for a newer arena quick? Any chance of this happening?

Let's all pretend that I never posted this.

Paul Gasol is 1 of 6 players to go for

16K+ points

8K+ rebounds

3K+ assists

1.5K+ blocks

in their career.

Jabbar

Olajuon

Chamberlein

Duncan

Garnett

If anyone has any doubt Pau belongs in the HoF especially adding in his International play they are nuts.

Edited to change the bottom to blocks instead of assists again. :bag:

This is the height of how good the Cav's can be.

Hawks still look good.

Your just ran into a team on a hot run.

19 3's was a Cavs franchise record and hitting their 1st 11 attempts is just ridiculous.

They were scary. I never doubted that they would get it together and they'll still have some growing pains but they are too talented to not be there at the end. Todem's head might explode.

What is the assist/ assist record? Should the bottom one be steals?

Played extremely well last night. Tough stretch this week though...Denver on Monday...Spurs on Wednesday...at Washington Friday and home to Toronto Saturday.

blocks
Out of curiosity I used steals rather than blocks, Hakeem and Garnett made that last as well, along with Barkley, Karl Malone, Bird and Kidd.

I really think Garnett has become the most underrated player of my lifetime.

3/40 for gay is really not that bad of a deal.
If he continues to play like he has since he joined the Kings, its a bargain.

Over the past two years with the Kings he has something like a 21 PER and a .568 TS% while averaging 21/6/3. He has been a top 5 SF over the last year. Nobody would be surprised to see him slip and get into his bad habits again though, so its a bit of a risk.

brohans the bucks just beat the heat which last year would never have happened at five wins they are almost half way to all of last years wins it is prety crazy to watch them not horribly suck at basketball so bam the old swcer is happy take that to the bank bromigos
