*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

brohans the bucks just beat the heat which last year would never have happened at five wins they are almost half way to all of last years wins it is prety crazy to watch them not horribly suck at basketball so bam the old swcer is happy take that to the bank bromigos
Brandon Knight is playing shockingly well thus far.

Paul Gasol is 1 of 6 players to go for

16K+ points

8K+ rebounds

3K+ assists

1.5K+ assists

in their career.

Jabbar

Olajuon

Chamberlein

Duncan

Garnett

If anyone has any doubt Pau belongs in the HoF especially adding in his International play they are nuts.
What is the assist/ assist record? Should the bottom one be steals?
blocks
Out of curiosity I used steals rather than blocks, Hakeem and Garnett made that last as well, along with Barkley, Karl Malone, Bird and Kidd.

I really think Garnett has become the most underrated player of my lifetime.
Definitely underrated. The team around the stars is such a huge factor in how they are perceived. Our Wolves were pretty bad back then.

10-24. Good grief.
Don't forget the 9 FTs. W/o going back thru the play by play, let's assume 1 FT was an and-one, meaning the other 8 were the result of fouls on 4 additional shot attempts. I'm the biggest Laker homer on this board, and due to the lack of play making on this Laker team, a healthy Kobe should lead the NBA on FGA's this season. But 28 shots in 19 minutes in one half is absolutely absurd, unless a player is in the zone. Clearly he isn't.

If I was out there in the 2nd half, I'd freeze him out.

Agreed. I've bagged on him a lot the last few years but he is no doubt a special player. Seeing him jam it towards the rim every time down the floor is absurd.

Game 7 of the 2003 western conference semis was one of the best performances I've seen from a player. Peak Garnett. I'd take that KG, at his ceiling, over Duncan at any point in his career, though Duncan certainly had the better career.

Rockets game was darn near unwatchable. But a road win against a western team is a good thing.
Never thought I could say this, but MEM v HOU showdown for best record in NBA tonight.

Grizz putting 19 game* home winning streak on the line... haven't lost* in the Grindhouse since Feb 5th.

Lotta chirping between Thunder and Rockets right now. Kevin Durant repeatedly to Dwight Howard: "You're a P####"
So injured guys on the bench talk trash?

Calling Dwight a ##### seems to be the in thing now. Not sure really what that accomplishes but whatever.
I think Durant has earned the right to talk trash whether he is injured or not.

There seems to be a common theme in these.

I think Durant is completely justified to hate the Rockets. They have had a very small window to win a championship in OKC, and Pat Beverly ruined a whole year's work with a single cheap shot.

Mitch got Kobe in on the tanking by just telling him to shoot whenever and how much he wants. He can chase scoring records and such, it gives all the haters things to laugh at. As a Lakers fan, IDGAF. They need to be as bad as possible this year.

Losing their pick this year would be a horrible outcome as, in all likelihood, they would lose their 2017 as well.

And it doesn't matter if he alienates the whole team, because nobody is going to be left after next season, other than Swaggy P (who understands reckless gunning) and Randle (who is out all year anyway).

Why is it a small window? As long as Durant is playing on the team with himself he has a chance to win.

An article on why the Nuggets suck so bad.

Kevin Arnovitz basically says that the management is a mess, from owner to head coach, and nobody really knows what they are doing. Arnovitz seems to be especially critical of Connelly (the GM), who I think has been the least of their problems between him, Kroenke, and Shaw.

"I'm not sure Tim can do the job," a league power broker, who has known Connelly for years, said. "He's the nicest guy you'll meet, but he's out of his depths, and you saw it with the Kenneth Faried mess."

The mess in question refers to the odd sequence of events during the finalization of Faried's four-year, $50 million extension completed in early October, a deal that was initially leaked by Denver, according to several sources, at five years and $60 million, only the terms of that deal didn't conform to the current collective bargaining agreement, which stipulates a team's "designated player" for a five-year extension must receive the maximum money. Connelly and Ben Tenzer, the Nuggets' young director of team operations and de facto salary-cap guy, jumped the gun while the rest of the NBA, including the league office, scratched their heads at the report.
More than one source close to the league's infrastructure has confirmed Faried wasn't the only proposed transaction by Denver that violated CBA 101 basics. One rival team executive said the Nuggets called to propose a trade that was obviously unkosher under league rules, something that rarely, if ever, happens because no general manager wants to betray ignorance of such a rudimentary part of the gig. Most have the good sense to call the league to fact-check potential acquisitions.
He definitely makes it sound like Connelly is wholly incompetent.

ETA: This once again points to my argument that there are some of us in this thread that could GM an NBA team. These guys just aren't smart people.

It's hard to see how Connelly is the problem when the roster is still largely the same at the core as the one that won 57 games in Karl's last season.

Personally I think the root of the problem is that the system Shaw wants to run is completely at odds with his roster, and he knows it. They need to either gut the roster and acquire players who can work with what Shaw wants, i.e., a reliable low-post scoring threat and better perimeter shooters, or admit the Shaw hire was a mistake and try to move on quickly with a coach that either more adaptable or comfortable coaching an open-court game.

Fox Sports Detroit has this commercial with Stan Van Gundy talking about how he wants to build the Pistons... "The type of team nobody wants to play... tough physically, tough mentally... tremendous desire to win" and a bunch of clichés like that.

So Luke Ridnour blows through the Pistons defense, five guys just stand around and watch him do it, SVG comes flying off the bench to call timeout and scream at people, and we go to break and play that commercial.

my favorite coach is bo ryan you turn it over he sits you down you take a dumb shot he sits you down you make a foul he sits you down i know that would probably not fly in the nba where every kobe thinks they are bigger then the game but man would it be nice to see a team buy in and make it work it would make this old boy happy that is for sure take that to the bank brohans
