*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (7 Viewers)

So glad I got to come see the Cavs of the previous 4 yrs tonight.

Still like this Giannis cat. Could have a nice one there in a few yrs swc.

Never should have traded Wiggins. Trade for Love, cool, but don't use Wiggins. If Minnesota said Wiggins or no deal then walk away.
I dunno about that. It's not like Wiggins has been an instant superstar. He's got a lot of work to do.

Love has been disappointing but I think Cleveland's got a better chance of keeping LeBron and building a title contender now than they would have if they didn't make that trade.
This team needs defense. Something Wiggins does and Love does not. His issues on offense would be easier to mask with this supporting cast.
Isn't Wiggins one of the worst odefensive players?

cant say I've watched a second of him in Minnesota, but I saw enough in Kansas to think he is a great defender.

I thought they were trending in the right direction by getting lucky on the Wiggins thing. They had a nice young foundation with some serious upside between him and Irving. Not an instant title contender or anything, but a team that had some future potential if they developed the right way. Yeah he needs some work, but he's freakishly athletic, seems to have a good attitude, and presumably understands that he needs to put in the work to get to where he wants to be.

Now the situation they're in: If Lebron walks, Love will almost certainly jump ship as well and then they're going to be worse off than they were before Lebron came. A LOT worse off. That's my problem with it. Putting all of their eggs into the Lebron basket when he wasn't even committing to them long term except orally - supposedly for financial reasons. Oral commitments aren't really worth a heck of a lot and aren't baskets you really want to be putting all of your eggs into.

The Cavs will be back to square one and have squandered all of the luck that brought them a prospect like Wiggins if Lebron walks. A completely TERRIBLE outcome if it goes that way. A move that could set the franchise back an enormous amount. It seems like most wanted to give this about a 0 percent chance of happening when this whole Lebron/Love thing went down, and it's looking like they might have been a bit foolish to buy into Lebron's schpele.

Exactly - he's fine defensively and has potential to be great. And effort is a big part of defense. When you see a guy willing to put in the effort on the defensive side of the fence, I'd presume he's willing to work and can develop an offensive game on that basis (along with his freakish athleticism). Like Jimmy Buckets.

nuts brohans the bucks just lost to indy at home the bucks have a run of eastern teams here and they need to win these and they just blew it nuts take that to the bank

Kobe just passed the ball rather than take the last shot. I don't think he's done that since Mark Madsen was one of his teammates.

Battle of conference titans coming up

Warriors by 10
Fantastic game so far.
I was worried a bit after the first quarter. Raptors were playing good d. I really don't get why teams try to play small against us.Casey isn't too bright sometimes. Their biggest advantage was inside and he played JV 10 minutes. Terrible overreaction to GS's hot shooting in the 1st Q.

The GS announcers were getting a little carried away with it though. Toronto plays Amir and Patterson with 3 guards quite a bit. Even 3 guards with James Johnson at 4. When Ross was at the 4 was the only time they really went small and that was when they were down big already.

I think it had more to do with JV playing so little rather than the other bigs on the court.

Dubs won by 20 but the game was a lot closer.

Casey has jerked around his minutes a ton this year. Just baffling at times.

A 14-0 run to close the game certainly makes it look worse than it was... though it was pretty clear the Warriors are a far better team. The rematch in Toronto, with Derozan back, will be a heck of a lot closer.

sporster fan that is one heckk of a video and it takes me back take that to the bank bromigo thanks for posting

After the game last night Kerr was asked if in the moment he could appreciate the matchup between Curry and Lowry. He replied, "Not really. I prefer the matchups where Steph has a huge advantage."

That is a Popovich-level performance right there.

The game was in doubt for awhile, but the Knicks hung on to lose.
This team is unbelievably bad.
Losing by 25 tonight, at home, to an 8-23 team.
With all due respect to the crappiness of the knicks, the Pistons haven't lost since cutting Josh Smith.
Damn right. No shame in getting blown out by the Pistons. That's just what happens now.

(We'll see if I'm still saying this after their upcoming back-to-backs @SA and @DAL).

Hawks (for today) have the best record in the East. Another measuring stick game tonight @Portland. 2nd game of a back to back doesn't seem to give us much of a chance. Excited to watch Teague vs. Lilliard.

Any reason why the Nugs and Griz game line so close?
2nd part of a back to back is always tough and top that with the thin air in Denver is why it is only -1.
I'm not sure that's enough for - 1 but that's why folks bet.
 Denver is always good at home. Even this year they are +.500 there while being horrific on the road. Memphis doesn't blow teams out so it should be a close one. I wouldn't touch it.

Well they found out quick didn't they....

Josh Smith to the bench for the Rockets. Best served off the bench to 'lead' 2nd unit (if going to roster him). The guy is poison if using for significant minutes on a consistent basis. He's simply not a role player & isn't going to change his game at 29.

Now let's see how he handles the demotion.....

The Bucks at the moment:

17-17 on the season

13-13 in non-division games

11-11 against the East

10-10 on the road

7-7 at home

6-6 against the West

5-5 in their last 10 games

4-4 against the Central

one thing that sticks out to me is that they have also generally been in all of there games they have only been blown out a few times that is quite a difference from last year thanks for the cool stats take that to the bank bromigo

Kerr is awesome.
When Kerr was at U of Arizona, he once told the student newspaper the basketball team's New Year's Resolution was to help Lute Olson kick his heroin habit. Kerr got to visit a couple of bureaucrats' offices after that story ran.
