A show like Stranger Things, the most highly watched series on Netflix in the English language, boasts huge cultural cachet: if the Duffers are doing it, who's to say that other creators won't? One day patches might become as commonplace in screen media as they are in video games, and that is a truly worrying precedent for consumers and the integrity of art alike.

OMG we can't have creators go back and change their work to fix errors they discovered!!! Think about the children!!!!

The article I read stated that they went back and removed the shot where Will's brother was taking photos of Nancy as she undressed.  It wasn't done to correct an error, it was done to retcon the character.

Well that didn't actually happen but they did fix other issues:

In an interview with Variety in early June, the sibling directorial duo confirmed plans to “George Lucas” — ie. retrospectively edit, as has been the Star Wars progenitor's unpopular bent with later editions of the original franchise trilogy — a moment in Stranger Things season two, owing to a fan-identified plot hole. It's a simple mistake of an expansive series costing $30 million an episode, really: the creative team set an episode of Stranger Things 4 on March 22, forgetting that it had been established as Will Byers' (Noah Schnapp) birthday in the earlier season.

This article says that is not true.

(a longstanding rumour, that a shot of Jonathan photographing Nancy from the bushes outside Steve's house had been removed, has proven to be false)

I mean, if they leave that in, did Nantz already know before romancing the stone (Jon)?  I hope so. If not, that is a HUGE trespass.  I had forgotten all about it, but Jonathan might as well be Deshaun Watson at this point.  

Plus Steve got all hairy and stuff.

Assuming they leave in the part where Jonathon was taking pictures of her changing her clothes, in the storyline was Nancy aware of that at any point?  Before her and J became romantic, or after?  I can't remember, but it seems awfully creepy if she didn't know.  And kind of weird if she did and just brushed it aside as no big deal.

Did she find the pictures at some point?  I feel like I remember that vaguely.  Or did Steve and his evil 80s friends find them?

Yes in season one. They were harassing him and the pictures fell on the ground. They all saw them then Steve grabbed his camera and smashed it on the ground. Then at the end of the season Steve and Nancy gave him a new camera for Christmas.

They have grown up on screen but its not like the old days of 30 year old's playing teenagers on TV. They have been pretty close to their on screen age

Just got back from the Broadway play of Stranger Things.

Basically an origin story with all the adults as teenagers. Staging and effects were technically insane, even if it felt like we were watching a movie a lot of the time. We actually had a 15 minute streaming/technical issue delay in the 2nd act, so it felt just like watching Netflix. But if you're reading this, you're already a fan- if you're a big fan of the series, I'd recommend the show if you get to NYC.
 
Believe it was just announced recently the air dates for the final season:

Volume 1: November 26th at 5pm PT / 8pm ET
Volume 2: Christmas, 5pm PT / 8pm ET
The Finale: New Year’s Eve, 5pm PT / 8pm ET

No kidding. Love this show but man, these breaks between seasons just kills it for me. I'm glad they are wrapping it up and it looks like it will be solid but damn they shoulda done this a year ago.
 
Season 1 was just epic. Just great. Season 2 was solid. I think season 3 started to really waiver. Season 4 got dark and more interesting. I feel season 5 is gonna be bad. Hell. It's been 15 years since I watched the show so I could be way off on my comments.

I uad forgotten that S4 ends with the world in immediate danger, not in a resolved situation. 16 years later, with the kids all grandparents by now, how does that "next day" play out?

They recast Holly to be older.

Holly is the baby sister of Mike and Nancy. Like Erica (Lucas's younger sister) before her, Holly will be taking on a bigger role this season.
 
I really love this show even with the weak sauce of season 2.

Seasons 1,3,4 are excellent.

I think season 5 obviously has a lot of hype and I expect a great finish. Season 1 and 4 are my absolute favorites hands down.

Kid and I just rewatched the whole series. Forgot how much fun it was. Hope they end it well.


As a side note, the kid and I thought about it ending with a time jump as a where are they all now type thing. We realized, being set in the 80s, they are basically my generation. I was 9 in 83 when it started. The 5 main kids in the show were 12, with the older group 16-17. The parents in the show would be the same age as my parents now.
 
Definitely need to watch a recap to know what’s going on. I read somebody say something ties back to an event in season 1 and it’s like come on…that was 10 years ago.
 
I’ve been trying to get my youngest daughter (19) to watch Game of Thrones and she agreed to if I will watch stranger things.

I enjoy the sets and it’s not a bad show but it’s a kids show to me. I’m sure I would have adored this if I was 12.

About to finish season 1. Let’s see if I still feel the same way a few seasons from now.
