Another great *5 minute drill* show

Suprised three staff members on that latest show and not one wearing a GET JOE STICKER

"You know the drill"

Good stuff as always - the Lammey/Faletti face off was very nice indeed. And the Bloom draft strategy segment to finish it off is :goodposting:

great stuff guys. Very entertaining. How is it doing hit wise on itunes, etc.? Is it catching on outside of FBG's?

Seriously?

Lammy is Hammy. I get it... it's shtick... but if you guys want this to do anything other than perpetuate the perception of the geekiness of the hobby then you guys gotta keep lammy on the Audible.... guys got a face for podcasts. Sorry.. but just being honest here.

If you guys ARE stuck with him as a host then he needs to quit talkingt hrough his teeth and someone needs to beat that rat off his chin with a broom.... did he play minor league baseball in a past life? Must've been a pitcher. Also... the rock star finger gestures are very amateur hour.. reeks of trying wayyy too hard. Reminds me of a Computer programmer doing his best Johnny Bravo impersonation.

Bloom was entertaining and has a much more professional appearance. Loved Faletti breaking in an frankly he's a better on screen persona than Lammey by a good margin.

Content wise.. great piece. Liked the comments. On screen graphics are top rate. Kudos on those. Production values overall are fantastic. Very good piece that is one host away from being great. :scared:

Sorry, but couldn't disagree more. Cecil is great. May not be what you from Footballguys on a video podcast. But he's exactly what I want.J

Fair enough Joe. It's your ste and your vision. Sorry if the criticsm isn't welcome but if you've got nothing but people patting you on the back then things never improve. I have nothing against the guy and I enjoy the Podcasts and enjoy his posts on the forum.... but if you're looking to take this thing bigtime I just don't know if he's your guy.

I guess it just depends on what you're shooting for here. I think he's entertaining within the micocosm of goofy FBG shtick.. but I think if you're shooting for a broader appeal he will turn a lot of people off. Again.. this is not an attack on Lammey as a whole... great guy. Hell I don't have the looks/personality for TV either... not everyone does.

That said, the piece, overall, is one of the best I've seen. Good solid content (without getting mired down in details).. I like the 5 minute format. Long enough that it doesn't just gloss over the details.. short enough that you can watch it at worth without getting busted :goodposting: As stated before, production values are top shelf... excellent look/feel.

Overall I'd give it a B+ borderline A-. Very well done. (and that's judging it against Cable Network Channel stuff like G4TV, etc)

Got to say, I agree with Icon here. First thought that ran through my head on was a couple of high school guys trying to do a home video (the whole look, "you know the drill" with the rockstar hand sign, etc..)

Hell, I think Lammey is great on the podcasts. I really like how he presents himself. Kind of colorful, not boring, and not outlandish. He speaks well to the audience and comes across as believable, yet not too serious. I think Bloom is a contrast to Lammey, which is good for the group as a whole. I'm not saying Bloom is boring, quite the contrary, but he does come across as more serious. Like I said, I like the contrast, it works well together.

I want to re-iterate that my comments are in context of FBGs attempting to take this thing outside the FBG arena. If they're building this show to eventually be a nationally syndicated segment (which I think it has the potential to be) then I think that it needs some polish.

If they're content with where it is... a entertaining video bit for FBGs and perhaps some outsiders who might happen across it via iTunes and draw a little additional traffic to FBG.... then it's likely okay as is.

 I guess I just see big potential with the quality of production they've got going on with this.

1) I don't think Cec, Marc and Bloom are trying to be ESPN here; it's meant to be funny, quick-hitting but legitimately insightful

2) Having recorded a bunch of Audible episodes and done some radio, I can attest to just how fluid Cecil is as a host. The guy enunciates, never stutters or rambles, and is always moving the show along at a perfect pace

3) Now I realize that with the 5-Minute drill, since it's produced, those assets aren't necessarily as important as live radio (Cec' day job); however, I think it speaks to why he IS a good host for something that's quick hitting and pertinent

4) Does Cec "look" corporate? No, and I've told him that he has a face made for radio (as I do myself, as do most of us), but one of the great things about the podcasting world is it's a long-tail experience; the boundaries of how things are supposed to look no longer matter as much

5) Cec, to me, looks a LOT more like the guys who would be digging on a fantasy podcast/vidcast than what you see elsewhere; there's something to be said for looking and acting like your target audience

Also, I think it's important to explain that Marc, Sigmund and Cecil are doing this with On Networks, a well-funded internet video production venture. FBG is affiliated with it, obviously, but ON is the driving force behind this and really calls the shots along with the trio of talent.

again.. just throwing out some constructive criticism guys

I guess next time I'll join in the chorus of backslapping and "GREAT JOB GUYS!" reviews :fishing:

gllllll peas!

ICON,I don't think anyone has a problem with you or anyone else offering constructive criticism. But you also shouldn't be surprised when a goodly number of folks come back at you with why they disagree.

Don't worry Jason... been here long enough that I'm not at all surprised :lmao:

Keep up the good work guys!

I agree with your praise of the 5 minute format being a brilliant concept. Short attention span is the way to go, keeps it tight and small enough to put on your iPod/iPhone and not enough info given away that it becomes stale. Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised at how well this is being done. Lammy is very good, entertaining and watchable. I think he's the hook at this point. Bloom is may have the face for video but he needs to kick up the enthusiasm a little bit or he'll fall asleep. Bloom's content however, it spot on. Graphics are very well done. The gag with the producer cutting in was fun but seemed a little like high school film class fun to me instead of having the professionalism of the first two episodes. All in all I do have to say that I'm loving it and find myself looking to see if there is a new one out yet. The 5 Minute Drill is the future of video podcasts and you guys are riding a really nice wave right now. Excellent work!

Seems great to me. At least they know what they are talking about. Very unlike ESPN's live fantasy draft.
:goodposting: no wait,,,great postI couldn't agree more that the local and national media (radio, print and TV) journalists and former pro's are 95% ignorant when it comes to the strategy of fantasy football as well as the value fantasy football has to the growth in popularity of the NFL. All these guys will need to step up their knowledge of fantasy football in the very near future just to be able to speak to a large segment of their audience that is watching, reading and listening to the NFL because of fantasy football. Who would add more to MNF at this point, a fantasy football expert or Tony Kornhiser/Dennis Miller/etc...?

I too think its great and getting better each time..if we judge people on how they look on the (5 minute drill) Joe and David will increase our 2008 subscription fee so they can hire a makeup artist..I like it just the way it is..regular guys talking FF news to regular guys who want that info.

Good job on the video. I must give props to the graphics. The graphics are mostly very cool. Nice production values.

While the producer breaking in and stopping the action has been done before, it worked for me. And besides the silliness, it gives the impression that this is always a matter of debate - and that while people should look to experts for advice, they should remember that experts don't always agree.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, as always! I figured the cut-in wouldn't be everyone's thing, but we like to keep folks on their toes. You never know what we're going to do next. :link:

And I'm obviously deeply partial, but I love what Lammey brings to the show. Forget the stuffy commentator drone who's afraid to take a stand -- this is a real guy with real energy giving you his knowledgeable football opinion with no holds barred. Not only is he unlike any other football host on camera, but he brings a ton of knowledge to the content side of things. We would lose a lot more than his big personality if we didn't have Cecil.
