**NFC Divisional Round - Washington at Detroit** (-9, 55) 8:15 on FOX (1 Viewer)

They could still have had a lot of turnovers even if they ran it a ton

Yeah, but the probability of that is much, much lower. Forget what’s said in here tonight. People like me would love Campbell as their coach and leader. One night doesn’t change that, although I can’t figure out for the life of me what putting the game on Jameson Williams’s arm was supposed to do.

Lions have a lot to be proud of this year. 2025 gonna be the team to beat again in the NFC.

Gibbs, Williams, ARSB, LaPorta, Monty

Long as that core is healthy they’re the best offense in the NFC.

The game was over when Amik Robinson left the game. He was the last bandaid holding the defense together. We had no one left on the OL who could get to the QB, and without the ability to man cover the blitz were a disaster too. The secondary had too many players who should not be on the field.
This. That's when I knew it was over.
Bucs had multiple players out last week.

Washington missing several on defense as well this week.

There are no excuses. Now that your team is a contender don’t do this stuff. It’s true for everyone.

There are no trophies for what could have been.

He definitely would have made a difference preventing Goff from turning the ball over 4 times.

The INT in the end zone at the end of the half was just a killer.

Interception at the end of the game was fitting.

If Washington was facing anybody besides Philly or DET, I'd be rooting for them. Would be pretty cool to see a star rookie QB in the SB. But I have a soft spot for those teams.
You serious? Eff Philly.
Lol I've had Hurts and DeVonta on my dynasty since they were rookies. Hurts is my team's engine. I'm just used to rooting for em.
I hope they die of gonorrhea and rot in hell.
EDIT: nm. carry on

Somebody reported me for telling another dude his pokemon name was Pricklepuss and I got suspended.

I have no issue with your post, except ur a butthurt Bucs fan, but it’s hard to see this being ok, and I got a suspension.

Just saying.
I thought it was just an Ace Ventura reference/joke, where the Dolphins are playing in the Super Bowl against the Eagles. I would assume he doesn't actually feel that way.

Just looking ahead. Rookie QBs in Championship games are 0-7 with an average losing margin of 14.5 points.
I don't imagine any of those rookie QBs were the best QB in their conference, like Daniels is.

Brock Purdy
Mark Sanchez
Joe Flacco
Ben Roethlisberger
Shaun King
Dieter Brock
Pat Haden
Probably not fair to count Purdy, as he played like 2 series. But yeah, not exactly a who's who other than maybe Big Ben.

He's great, but the lights will be too bright and I don't think the rest of the team is up to snuff just yet.

But we'll find out. He's about to enter the Lion's den against (if he makes it) maybe the 2 best defenses in the NFL between PHI and I'm just going to pencil in KC.

I'm not analyzing a game next week against WAS until I know who they're playing.

I got banned during the Eagles 2022 Super Bowl run for calling someone a rick with a p in front of the rick. 30 days.

Ridiculously entertaining game. Sad for the Lions after their great season.
as a Raiders fan, I can only be hopeful seeing a team like the Commanders turn it around so quickly, especially if the Raiders somehow land a coach like Ben Johnson.

Congrats Commanders fans. Hope you make it to the Super Bowl.

I would normally agree but the Lions had a historically-bad rash of injuries. "Multiple players out" doesn't tell the story of what Detroit has had to endure. I think their fans deserve to lean on that storyline a little. It's definitely true.

By the way Lions fans, you have a very good team and great fans, and I think if these 2 teams played 17 times the Lions would win 9 or more.

I'm just unexpectedly ecstatic for Washington right now. It's been so long.

You guys earned that W

Daniels is amazing, such a poised QB, super accurate - Lions actually did OKish containing him but could not generate any pressure even when blitzing

Loved that Quinn stayed aggressive

GL next week

Expect nothing less from Campbell. If anyone can rouse the troops for next year it’s him.

The thing that impresses me most about Daniels is how calm he looks at all times. No wasted motion when passing, which looks incredibly accurate at every level, and doesn’t start scrambling early. When he does he is controlled.

Large part of this is scheme as he’s had something that works for him from day one, but he already looks on the level of year 4+ Lamar and has already left the likes of Fields ( lol ) and Hurts in the dust as an all round QB. Let’s see how this plays out, and then next year if there’s any form of sophomore slump.

Dan Quinn's a very good coach this year (I don't know about other years). He's got a team that regularly plays over their heads and is more interested [next game] than in the game they just finished.

I loved the pregame interview with him. He acknowledged the Lions were very good and had several players who could change the course of the game, and said his team would need to do a good job all day. And he was completely relaxed and confident.
That **** is contagious.

A
It came down to coaching, and in the end, Dan was simply the better coach.
It wasn't coaching, it wasn't play calling, it wasn't the trick play that didn't work. Those and many other things contributed to the loss but they weren't the reason we lost.

The two main reasons the Lions lost is because of turnovers and a defense that could not stop the Washington offense. They matched up and down the field for most of the game. We stopped them one time. You will not win giving up 45 points. You will not win with a minus 5 turnover differentials. That's the ballgame right there.

Bottom line: The Commanders played great and we played bad. They deserved to win.

Also, Washington was good all game.
Washington played great and deserved to win. But what @jon_mx said is true. It was going to be tough enough with Amik Robertson but when he went out the defense had no chance at all.

When we lost Carlton Davis, Amik moved from slot to the outside and he played the best football of his life. He was sticky in coverage so he could play press man, which is a must given that the Lions had to blitz so much. Amik also was physical, could tackle, and was very good in run defense. He was replaced by Kindle Vildor, who can't cover so he can't play man, and he can't tackle. I think most Lions fans knew we were done but we always hold out some hope.

The Lions had so many injuries to their defensive line that they pretty much had to blitz. Given that, you need corners that can cover or you are doomed. The blitz rarely got there and part of it was the greatness of Daniels and part was because receivers were wide open.

Even if Amik wasn't hurt, we still might have lost but we would have had a chance, might have gotten an extra stop or two, maybe made a play or two. But once he got hurt, we had no chance.

I give Washington all the credit in the world. They did what you're supposed to do: take advantage of opponents weaknesses. They played great and we played bad.

7 out of 11 starters on defense is crippling and virtually impossible to overcome in the post season.

It caught up to them.

Great season for the Lions and they will be back.

Washingtons Cinderella season march's onward. Jayden Daniels is the new darling of football. And deservedly so. Kid is playing lights out football on the biggest stage.

It was a bad throw (Goff should have led Williams further left). But I also hate when the WR doesn't try to high point the ball. Williams gave the defender a free chance to catch the ball. He should have slammed on the brakes and gone through the defender trying to catch the under thrown ball. PI or a catch or incomplete most likely if Wilkiams does that. Almost zero chance at an interception.

Detroit turned it over 5 times. That’s why they lost.

Absolutely, and there are a lot of WRs at this level that do that. They just refuse to make the requisite adjustment on the ball to make a play! But the ball was easily stripped from Goff on the fumble. He wasn't under duress when he decided to throw into coverage on the pick-six. To me, Goff's play had way more to do with this loss than them losing Robertson. Football, very much like basketball, there's a hot-hand approach that's proven itself beyond any doubt. I suppose Gibbs did get enough run but from what I saw, the guy Washington had NO answer for was him!! If it were me, he'd of gotten 30 touches if need be!

I’ve never seen so many brutal injuries for a 1 seed. It’s simply amazing what the Lions accomplished this year under such adversity. That speaks to phenomenal coaching. Honestly I think Lions fans have every right to play the excuse game. Has any former 1 seed had 6-7 starters on D out? But still gotta give credit to Washington. They were awesome.

Goff shouldn’t have even been dropping back there. It was 3rd and 1 in opponents territory. They’re running the ball at something like 8 ypc. Run the stupid ball. Johnson was way too cute there. And all game for that matter.

It was the quite the contest between Johnson and Glenn to see who could look worse.
