What if the Cowboys lose due to that flag? It woulda been a bad call that influenced the game, imo. It wasn't PI, unless you wanna call facemask on Pettigrew. Faceguarding isn't a penalty in the NFL.....duh!

Yup.

I'll just wait for the Cowboys to choke out, and come back and say hi to you then tough guy. :bye:
No problem, yes we likely won't win the Superbowl and if stopping by after we do lose to troll me (in a game that doesn't involve your team) will make you feel better....then by all means feel free to do so. I assure you, I won't be crying and carrying on about 1 call when my team had multiple chances thereafter. I get it, it was a debatable play...it didn't go your way.

Reminds me of the game I went to in Detroit last year. Bunch of us there in Cowboys gear being given a hard for nothing. Guys yelling at kids wearing Romo jersey's

I lived in Texas for four years, don't try and make the Cowboys fans out to be any different. Has to be the whiniest fan base of them all, high as a kite one week and ready to burn down the whole city the next when the Cowboys lose (which they ALWAYS do).
Well....except for those 5 years where we didn't.

Yeah, that only sounds like Cowboys fans. Pats fans were pretty even keeled after losing to KC this year :)

Teams with winning history do not take lightly to losing even despite our current drought.

I'll say it could have been called PI but its close. Pettigrew previous to that pic was pulling the defender's facemask, the defender then tries to knock the hand away and then hits Pettigrew in the shoulder.
I like how that's conveniently disregarded by those ripping the non call.
Call me crazy but I think the former VP of officiating knows a little more about this than you.

Watch closely..

I've often wondered why the winning team fans need to argue that the call didn't effect the game (or it was the right call). Just take the gift, say ####ty call that probably effected the outcome, but we will take it.
I'm a Dallas fan...

The call did effect the game, it was the right call and they shouldn't have picked up the flag. I'm so thankful that we got this gift because it no doubt effected the outcome, but we will take it.

...The Cowboys players themselves deserve no credit at all for anything good that happened, it was 100% the refs winning that game for Dallas. Furthermore, we didn't deserve the dumb decisions by Caldwell, we didn't deserve the shanked punt, we didn't deserve the sack fumble that we gave back to the Lions, We certainly didn't earn the sack/fumble on the final drive... I feel really bad for the Lions playing a perfect game and having the game ripped away from them by the zebras... But we'll take it.
Your sarcasm proves my point.

I'm a Seahawk fan. I have no issue with saying that the Fail Mary gave us the win. We played well enough to benefit from a really bad call.

The Cowboys played well enough to take advantage of a horrendous call.
It literally did you give you win...are you crazy?

There was plenty of Football after this conspiracy was sent into motion.

This playoff victory moves Dallas to first for post season wins as a franchise.

I'm not whining at all, I couldn't care less if the Lions lost. There are people who have been around the NFL 30+ years who said they've never seen anything like that, a flag, a called penalty, then a reversal. It's nonsense and ignoring the video and photographic evidence makes you a dolt more than a homer.

It didn't cost DET the game, they had other opportunities that they didn't capitalize on before and after that. Any good coach will tell you that you can't put yourself in a situation where a bad call can effect the outcome of the game for you and then complain about it when it happens.

Agree with this, but the only thing that I'd add is that it did stop the Lions momentum. They could have gone for it on 4th down, stopped the cowboys, scored more than 3 points in the 2nd half, etc. But the call did affect the game, whether it affected the outcome is unknown.

You are whining.

It was handled poorly by the refs. The flag should never have been thrown, that's why they reversed it. Or, like I said, if there was a penalty, it was on Pettigrew for facemask.

And don't get me wrong, I love Michigan and the people there. Great place. I know they are rabid fans, but their treatment of Matt Stafford is beyond ridiculous. Kid went to my HS so I tend to perk up when he gets attacked. There's not an NFL GM out there that wouldn't be pleased as punch to have Matt Stafford locked up long term. But Lion fans I heard? They don't care for him and they sure as hell don't stand up for him.
I like stafford but its kind of hard to defend him as poorly as he's played this year. And no way I'm taking time out of my way to argue with mouth breathers about it.The lions have lost a lot since stafford was drafted. When a team loses, the QB gets blamed most of the time. Just like the goalie in hockey.
How were they before he got there?
If you think the stafford bashing was bad, you should have heard the Harrington stuff.
Oh, I know. I loved Joey like a son. Would have bought every single share of stock in him if he were a commodity. Broke my heart what happened to him in Detroit. Well earned scorn.

But the Stafford hate is ludicrous, asinine and senseless, yet ubiquitous in the Detroit area.
I fully expect to one day walk into a swanky hotel lounge and see Joey playing the piano for tips.
:lmao:

He'd probably do it for fun and donate the tip money. Guy is killing it in life. Hot wife, great broadcasting career, living in his home state, never has to buy a beer anywhere he goes. I know guys who know him and from what I've learned is that he's just an awesome dude. Funny, down to earth, dorky....like us! Made his money, didn't let his NFL life define him and is beyond comfortable in his own skin. And he will not utter a negative word about Matt Millen. Always takes the high road.
Seems like a great guy from what I've read.

The only mistake made was announcing the penalty while they were still conferring as Morelli has already said. This wasn't a crew that worked together before...these things can happen

If against me and my team, I would be mad about it too! Especially being announced then taken back. They play itself though, we agree to disagree.
This shouldn't happen in an NFL playoff game in the 4th quarter with three points separating the teams. That's not what fans pay to see, it's ridiculous. I would feel the way I do regardless of the team impacted, it was terrible execution by a crew that gets paid very well for doing their jobs on the biggest stage in American sports. It's unforgivable.

You are whining. It was handled poorly by the refs. The flag should never have been thrown, that's why they reversed it. Or, like I said, if there was a penalty, it was on Pettigrew for facemask.
Haha wait you really believe this don't you? Amazing when people have blinders on.

It's only blown up because it was announced as a penalty, then picked up. Had the refs huddled and waived off the flag like they normally do before announcing the penalty, there wouldn't have been near the uproar. Chalk that up to a new crew working together, not communicating well.

It didn't cost DET the game, they had other opportunities that they didn't capitalize on before and after that. Any good coach will tell you that you can't put yourself in a situation where a bad call can effect the outcome of the game for you and then complain about it when it happens.

Wait....2 Cowboys fans?
Wait....an Eagles fan not liking something Cowboys....ya weird. You guys ARE my fav fanbase for SURE.
Haha as long as you lose before the Superbowl it doesn't matter to me.

The excuses to support the play are ridiculous though. There is no scenario of waving it off in a different manner where that's ok. It was a big freebie enjoy it.

I know us losing is your SuperBowl. We don't think about you as much as you guys do.

both sides have blinders on, stop acting like Pettigrew did nothing wrong. Hell, had he been flagged for OPI on that play you couldn't argue against it. He was stif arming the defender while the ball was in the air. But again, it's a big deal because it was announced, then picked up. If not for that (albeit HUGE) piece of the puzzle, it was pretty much a meh play.

BUT WE'LL TAKE IT

Don't flatter yourself, this is the 1st year you have mattered since early 90's....no one thinks about your team anymore. You have 1 week left.

People need to stop. It wasn't a meh play. It was a play that had like 3 penalties followed by Des running on the field without his helmet, yelling right at an official and nothing was called. This was from the NFL's good officials. It was embarrassing.

Also, Dallas hasn't been good in about 20 years. They're like .500 over that span as well with 2 playoff wins. Those teams don't get "hated on"

Take out that it was announced as a penalty then picked up....If that exact play happens week 5 @ Tampa Bay no one ever hears about it, agree?

True fact we have sucked for a bit.

Doesn't stop the fact that you either love or hate the Cowboys and tons love to hate on us. It's all good though.

This is all I'm sayin. I think part of the dismissal of the facemask is due to NFL fans being used to offensive players getting away with this kinda stuff all the time.....This is a whole other discussion, but there should be more OPI calls.

Overall, this was not a great effort by the refs.

I partially agree.

This is a playoff game with the supposed best refs calling the game. You can't have a play with basically 4 penalties and not have one called. Dez is actually yelling right at an official who is no more than 5 feet away with us helmet off. There's NO excuse for that being missed. None. Everything about that play was blatant. A blatant hold, facemask, PI and unsportsmanlike conduct. That can't happen with the supposed best refs.

No one that is not a Cowboys fan agrees with that.

I posted Mike Pereirra breakdown of it....he was a head of officiating. What of his points are wrong?

It's useless to quote in this thread. Is/has anyone been a football ref? I keep trying to bring it up but from the interview from the head of the crew it really sounded like the main problem and what has been going on all weekend is that these are hodge podge crews. The head linesman decided he saw something differently and that's a matter of trust between officials. Sure they want to get it right but that trump card doesn't happen when it's with people you're familiar with and trust. They should be using the regular crews in the post-season and not this politically correct/kiss ### to get in as a playoff ref stuff. Grade and use the crews as a whole its the right way to do it.

I think that's the perception of someone stuck in the past. People don't say stuff bad about the Cowboys because they hate them. They say it cause they've actually been bad...

am I actually understanding this right?

the team that built it's rep on cheapshotting their opponents is crying about not getting a call?

I think santa must be real
