NFL -It's ok to punch someone in the face (1 Viewer)

I don't blame Pittman for slapping him but it's still a penalty/ I think the correct action by the refs would have been to have off setting personal fouls called and Taylor kicked out. If never seen the rules or any ref say it is okay to punch/slap someone as long as they did something first. A foul is a foul.

Any player who spits in another player's face should be ejected, then suspended for another game regardless who the player is.  Pittman's reaction to Taylor spitting on him was a slap to the helmet.  He should have kicked him in the balls.  I'm no fan of the wife-beater, Pittman, but it doesn't matter who the players are, spitting on someone is as low as it gets.
you honestly think he should be suspended for next game? getting kicked out midway through a playoff game was not a severe enough penalty? wow...way to overreact.
No, I don't think I'm over-reacting. Spitting in someone's face is downright low. Ask any football player (or any player in any sport), and the majority will agree. The NFL should incorporate a rule on an automatic game suspension. That way, the pu$$ies will think twice about doing it. I agree, he'll only get fined since they're in the playoffs. I hope he tears his ACL, MCL, and PCL the next game, however
no, you're not overreacting... :lmao:
Maybe he is, but it's no worse than you marginalizing a player spitting on another one.
i think the jury is still out on wether taylor really did intend to spit on the wife beater...did anyone actually see this magic luggie?
I didn't see the magic loogie, but there was probably a 2nd spitter. Might have been Roger McDowell.

Taylor, the fifth overall pick from Miami who has had repeated off-field incidents since being drafted -- including an arrest for driving under the influence last month -- could face another fine for unsportsmanlike conduct if the league determines he spat on Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.
 Last month alone, Taylor did things more despicable than Pittman has done since he's been in the league.

you may have something here...i think the league should look into this. :D

:lmao: @ a Redskins fan complaining about something a ref did in that game yesterday after a quick whistle allowed them to retain possession on Arrington's interception (which resulted in a touchdown - the difference in the game).
the refs owed us one after bending us over last time we were in tampa.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
:lmao: Apperantly they do... Pittman hitting Taylor is a worse action than Taylor spitting, but the blow to the head has been accepted and dismissed because it was the 2nd of 2 wrongs... making it right not just by the refs on the field but by nearly every single person in this thread.

wow, i'm classless and yet you try to "marginalize" pittman beating his wife.

The NFL should impliment an "instigating" rule. IIRC, Pittman had NOTHING to do with the play, but went over to the pile to engage Taylor. I agree with the penalty and ejection, but Pittman getting off scot free shouldn't have happened.Maybe this was a strategy the Bucs planned on using against the Skins. Like Simms taunting the defenders while running out of bounds, trying to draw the late hit. Personally, I thought he should have been flagged for taunting..............how is that any different from looking back a jawwing with a defender who's chasing you into the endzone?

Nope, Pittman is a grade A jerk. I'm willing to acknowledge that. It's just that endangering innocent lives because you don't want to spring for a cab is worse, and that's just last month for Taylor. You might want to list his rapsheet with his name each time you invoke it from this point forward though, Mr Classless Double Standard. I guess is he's a Redskin, he's above the law.

only steven segal is above the law...taylor is a great football player and i'm glad he's redskin even if he might be a bit of a punk. btw, way to miss the whole point of the thread. "double standard" spitting vs. hitting.

I agree that nearly everyone did miss the point. You did however instigate that with your tone IMO. Both players should have been punished, simple as that.

You pretty much derailed the thread from the start, acting like Taylor was some sort of victim. And if Pittman it worth of you calling him "that wifebeater Pittman" every time you mention him, Taylor is a lot more than "a bit of a punk". He's a complete and total piece of trash - and you should recognize him accordingly.

ok, next time i start a thread i'll PM you to get your perspective on the proper tone to use :lmao: ...this might avoid you getting your panties all in a bunch.

You know I was worried about playing Was before the game but after watching it, I'm no longer worried. A bonked FG and a HORRIBLE PI call in the first half are the only reasons why you pulled off a win in DC. Your boys are on their last legs and dropping like flies. Anything can happen of course, but 17 points (which you won't get off turnovers from us) ain't gonna do it. 120 yards? Lucky you were playing TB and not team with an offense.

Tampa had the #1 D in the league. I would say that Wash is lucky they are now facing Sea's #16 D and not the TB one.

you do realize the bucs had the #1 defense in the league right? also, the skins were pretty much just trying to sit on lead. you guys don't have any shot of shutting down the skins O like that. it should be a good game but i wouldn't put all my eggs in the, "our defense is going to play like tampa's", basket.

Horrible call. The referee's were HORRIBLE in this game. The Arrington Fumble... and it was a fumble. The Washington fumble return when he was tangled in Williams leg... even NFL network picked up on this one, we counted 10 or more holds whether it was Redskins or Bucs... and a few other calls too... and this one. If he spit... ok fine, no problem, boot him. But swinging at a player should at least get a 15 yard call too. That was a bad call too. Spitting at another player should result in an ejection. As good as Taylor is, he is nothing more then a immature punk. If he wasn't in football he would be in jail.

Maybe I need to go back and look at it again, but from what I've seen I don't think what Pittman did could be construed as a "punch" or a "swing." He pushed Taylor with an open hand. Granted, it was a push to the face. But if it occurred during play, it would have been a perfectly legal stiff-arm.
