NFL Performance Pay - Back in 2012? (1 Viewer)

I know I've read about NFL players being eligible from variable sources, but I can't find specifics. Players from 2000 to 2009 ( I might be off on my years ) were compensated with bonus performance pay at the end of the year if they out-performed their contracts. This performance pay went away during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.Am I off base here? Is it not back? If it is back, anyone got a link to details? I've did some searching, but couldn't find details. TIA.

I found this on PFT

As we’ve been told, unexpected increases in benefits held the cap down. Another factor is the return of the performance-based pay system, which sets aside $3.46 million per team that otherwise would boost the salary cap. Some league insiders believe that this specific payment, which gives significant payment to players with low salaries but extensive playing time, was omitted in 2011 in order to keep the cap on the right side of $120 million.
Pretty sure I just answered my own question.
