NFL Playoff seeding (1 Viewer)

I cannot find a link on how the NFL seeds teams for the playoffs.

Reason I ask is we have 3 divisions and our rules just state top 2 teams from each division make playoffs, and are seeded 1 thru 6.

This year league added rule that we will use NFL way of seeeding for brackets after round 1 ( meaning lower seed left will play #1 seed)

We have a disagreement, if a team that took 2nd place in their division can be a #2 seed over a team with a lesser record that took 1st in their division.

I think NFL states no 2nd place team can be higher than a 4 seed, no matter what your record is.

4 division winners take seeds 1-4. Then you have two wildcard winners 5 and 6.
