NHL Season Thread: TB wins and Kucherov loves beer (3 Viewers)

Woke up early this morning, made my coffee and turned on my dvr’d version of overtime...and it was over before I had a sip.

No OT game should be allowed to end that early.

That’s a lot of money for a subpar backup goalie, and they can’t really buy him out, because the cap hits will hit each year for about the next decade. They might be able to get Seattle to bite, but nobody else will.
That worked out well for PGH and MAF

Fan posts video of Lightning employees telling him and his 11-year-old son to remove their Panthers jerseys..........

What an incredibly successful franchise with such an embarrassingly lame policy

The results so far have brought a little sharper focus on the possibilities for the Stanley Cup Semifinals.

We now know that the East Division winner will start on the road as the #3 or #4 seed.  If Toronto comes out of the North then the Bruins/Islanders winner is the #4 seed - otherwise #3.

If Minnesota makes it out of the West then they will be either the #2 or #3 seed.  If Toronto comes out of the North then they will be #3.  If Montreal or Winnipeg win the North then Minnesota would be #2.

Colorado or Vegas will of course be the #1 Semifinalist if they win the West.  Similarly Winnipeg or Montreal will be #4 if they get to the sems.

Put more simple if Vegas wins tonight and Montreal can complete the comeback over Toronto then the semi-final bracket would be set with West vs North in one semi and Central vs East in the other.

One last interesting thing.  Right now there are 37 possible Stanley Cup Final Matchups (I love that somehow it's a prime number of combos left but sure enough it is, anyway....).  33 out of the 37 combos can still happen!  Only Colorado vs Winnipeg, Colorado vs Montreal, Vegas vs Winnipeg, and Vegas vs Montreal cannot be the Stanley Cup Final matchup.

Obviously Bettman will move heaven and earth for there to be a Jets/Canes grudge match in the Final ;)

They’re apparently changing it, which I didn’t know the rule was a thing, and shouldn’t have been in the first place. That’s part of the fun of the game, seeing opposing fans lose hope as the Lightning beat their team.

Also, Tampa/Colorado can’t play till the Cup Final. I hope we get that series.

Minnesota cannot meet Carolina, Winnipeg or Montreal in the semis

Damn you up earlier.  How is Vegas going?
####ty thanks to you.  Cried myself to sleep at 9pm. Now wide awake at 3 30 am.

Picking up a cava doodle puppy at 9 30am with the wife at a breeder an hour away and then off to the airport to ship them both home.

I'm then staying for a week of om8 tourneys.  Lol.

For those not from Boston, the Bruins have an honorary fan banner captain before every home playoff game ... usually an athlete from another pro team in town or some sort of celebrity.

Tonight it was AJ Quetta, a local high school hockey player (senior) who suffered a several spinal cord injury when he stumbled into the boards awkwardly during a game in January. He's already back home after spending some time at Shepherd in Atlanta.

Mitch Marner is complete dog####. How can you be a PP specialist and not score a PP goal all season and also go 17 consecutive playoff games without a goal.

He sucks. $11 million! Garbage player.

You know who's actually good? William Nylander.

This Storm Series(my name for it, anyway) is interesting to me, because this is a series where I don’t really feel animosity towards the Canes. Their fans are fun, the team is fun to watch, and they have fun playing, much like the Lightning, but I like this matchup.

I agree almost word for word being a Canes fan towards Tampa.  Just glad we got a team that can compete with Tampa's talent even those your is above ours clearly at goal and forwards.

Bolts take Game 1, 2-1, but some sloppy play by them. They can’t give Carolina extra chances when they're dangerous enough on their own.

Nino Niederreiter is "very, very doubtful" for returning this series per Brind'Amour

Pretty big loss for the Canes
