Football-related. Didn’t know if this was right for the mange forum or what - @FBG Moderator, please feel free to move if necessary.

Apparently the NYC shooting that resulted in 4 dead (+ suicide by shooter) was at NFL HQ, and the shooter had a grievance with how the NFL handles CTE.
An NFL employee was seriously injured in the mass shooting that took place in the New York City building where the league has its headquarters, and the shooter reportedly had grievances with the NFL over its handling of CTE.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to league staff hours after the shooting.

“One of our employees was seriously injured in this attack. He is currently in the hospital and in stable condition. NFL staff are at the hospital and we are supporting his family,” Goodell wrote. “We believe that all of our employees are otherwise safe and accounted for, and the building has nearly been cleared.”

A law enforcement official told CNN that the shooter, Shane Devon Tamura, was carrying papers indicating he had grievances with the NFL and its handling of CTE. Officials say Tamura had a documented mental health history and they are still investigating what motivated the attack.

Police say Tamura killed four people, including a police officer, before killing himself with a gunshot to the chest.

worth noting, the shooter’s method of suicide is consistent with Junior Saeu, and can’t possibly be a coincidence.

Well, except Junior Saeu didn't grab a gun and kill 4 other people. Also, no confirmation that the shooter actually had CTE. He claimed it in his suicide letter but he also claimed he played in the NFL, which obviously he didn't. He played High School football so I guess it's possible.

To kill innocent people, he obviously had mental health issues, but to say it's CTE is a reach. A lot of people commit suicide and have mental health issues. Doesn't mean they have CTE.

The fact that I can't stop reading about these "politics" sorta posts on ESPN/Sports site, while I"m trying my best to get away from it all - literally not watching or reading "News" these days, and yet it still is creeping into my "escape" From it all is starting to really bum me out.

I only pointed out Seau because of the method of suicide being consistent with what people with CTE do.

I have no idea if this dude had CTE, and I never said he did. Just pointed out that his method was highly unusual and was likely a statement.

Nor do I condone his actions in any way.

Sheesh.

This isn’t a political post at all. It’s a shooting that happened at NFL HQ, so it seemed relevant. What “politics” are you seeing here? Not one word was written about the shooter’s politics.

And where did I suggest you condone his actions? :ponder:

You did say that his method of suicide was the same as Seau's and that method is consistent with CTE so it probably wasn't a coincidence. So you kind of did suggest he had CTE

You're a good guy and all, but you seem to stick political jabs into football posts quite often. Eventually someone will bring up gun control laws in this post. Agree with Terpman here. Just want to talk football on this forum.

We have a thread for it here. Let's keep it to there please.
