***OFFICIAL 2009 NFL DRAFT*** (1 Viewer)

Seriously, WTF was Denver thinking with that trade? 37th overall for a 1st rounder. I call shenanigans on that transaction, that shouldn't have even been allowed.
2nd this year = 1st next year. happens all the time.
People always freak out when these trades happen too. They laughed at the Panthers when they went and traded a 1st for Jeff Otah, and he was an excellent player for them.

I wish the Pats had traded #34 for Denver's first next year. I think Denver is going to be mediocre at best this year. I dont see any way they make the playoffs this year. That makes the 1st a top 20 pick next year.

Bengals take Rey.

I think a lot of teams are going to regret this. Whoever wrote that Rey was the third best LB on USC is dead wrong, IMO. He's going to be a star in this league. People will be shaking their heads about this for years.

Here’s what New England has coming up in the top 100 picks now:2(34)2(41)2(47)2(58)3(73)3(83)3(89)3(97)

Holy crap!!They are putting on a clinic the last decade on how to maintain a dynasty in the modern NFL. Perfect blend of building picks in the draft, drafting well, while ALSO making trades and signing FAs at key spots. As a phin fan, I am obligated to hate them, but I respect the hell out of that organization.

If NE takes E. Brown @ 41...well he's someone I wanted at 23, soo yeah, getting two 3rd's for nothing would be good.

Then again, they never do what I think they're going to do so you should probably just ignore this post. The smart $ is on a TE that I've never heard of.

Easily looking ahead they need a QB and could get Sam Bradford next year with all of their 1st round picks, if they are not drafting first anyway.

Don't get me wrong, the kid is a great value there but if we don't get Caldwell in round 3 I really will not be optimistic about improving this year.

Not to pile on but how do you go from a near playoff team that just missed with a great offense to a team with a bad offense without a good QB and still a bad defense AND give up what should be a high #1 all in one offseason? Not to mention the downgrade at HC and apparantly GM? Things are looking up for the Chiefs if only based on what Denver and Oakland are doing ... although they reached too and should have traded down.
 I've been watching this stuff for 20+ yrs and I think the Broncos are having the worst offseason by a franchise I've ever seen.

Pats have cleaned up once again in picks... WOW...

As for the Denver trading up and giving up their first next year... another WOW. Alphonso Smith is good though and they definitely needed to address their defense some more...

Any chance E Brown, Butler, or Ebon Britton last until 49ers pick? If they get one of those guys, or even Rey, they HAVE to get an A for Day 1.
I am shocked Butler has dropped this far. He is an unbelievable corner. Plays very well against the run too.
I don't think he makes it passed NE's next pick - they're supposed to be high on him.
I think you are right, Belicheck came down to UCONN's pro day. I am a UCONN season ticket holder, so I have seen him play alot. He is unbelievable. Just a great cover corner and he makes plays in the running game too.

While I am struggling with the Moreno pick - and on the surface this trade for the 2nd looks wacky - Alphonso Smith was a 1st team All American and they did get rid(THANK GOD!!!!) of Dre Bly. Sooner or later with Baileys age (and he was banged up a lot last year) they were going to have to address CB. Personally IMO we need pass rushers and tacklers. Going into this draft the Broncos only had 3-4 starters on the defensive side. So if we get the parts of the puzzle now so be it. We have several 3's to start plugging up the middle on D and it looks like some decent Defensive guys are dropping here in the second.

I wrote that, and I stand by my opinion. Cushing stood out to me when watching film, and Matthews surprised me. I was shocked at the skills Rey showed. Here is a guy who was supposed to be a ferocious linebacker, and he was getting pancaked regularly, and taking horrible false steps.

Actually WTF was Seattle thinking. They are trading 37 this year for something in the 17-23 range. That is moving up like only 15 picks for next year. Too many good players left on the board.

Anyone know if Seattle gets Denvers 1st next year, or the one they get from the Bears?

UPDATE: The pick appears to be the Broncos 2010 pick, not the Bears.

I don't think Brown is a NE pick. Very poor against the run. I guess if they want him as a situational rusher.

Great pick for the Jags at #40 overall. Solid O-line upgrade.

ESPN talking up Pat White to the Raiders. "He's Seneca Wallace type..." Boomer says. Just what I want at #41!

you think the Broncos pick will be in the 17-23 range next year? It could be top-10.

Surprised Caldwell is not off the board. I think he is the best center in this draft.

Wow, Jags take two tackles. Pretty good value there.

Looking like 49ers might have to hold out hope for E. Brown. At this point I'd be happy with the S from Missouri, Moore, if SF can't snag Brown or Butler.

Patriots trade up 1 spot. I hope it's Buttler or Brown.

Pick out of Nowhere that Would Surprise the Hell out of Me: Shady or a TE.
