I don't understand this pick at all. At all. Are the Lions really drafting a KR in the third round?The first 5 picks and NO lineman on either side of the ball.

I am not one to question the Patriots, but that seems early for Tate. Bum knee and some drug issues. Seemed like he would fall further than that.

He's yapping just to yap.You do understand the difference between "working in space" like a LT and working as an "interior linemen"?In drills you work by yourself in space. He should be a good possession receiver opposite of Ginn and great size for the red zone.

He was expected to be another Dwayne Jarrett or Mike Williams for USC, but was a slow developer as a WR and he dropped a lot of passes. He improved a lot his senior year. He's large and atheletic, but as with those other two guys the questions about him will be his quickness and ability to gain separation, and how disciplined his route running will be.My impression was that he was expected to drop into the ~5th round or so.

Coming in to college, he was not only the #1 WR, but the #1 player in the entire nation. But he didn't work hard his first couple years at USC; he sucked at route running, didn't pay attention to catching balls. In his junior year he got better, and his senior year he shined.I see him as similar in the NFL to that big receiver from the Chargers- can't think of his name at the moment.

You have to think they are looking at their roster and assessing the plausibility of how many rookies can make their squad. Picking up a couple extra 2nd rounders next year is an excellent move.

They drafted a TE last year that couldn't crack the Scaife and Alge lineup plus they had that guy(can't think of his name now) that was Alge's backup in Atlanta. They must love Cook to trade up for him despite all their depth.

I love the Patriots draft philosophy, how are they able to do this every year?
I don't mind the Titans trading to get Cook, he'll be a force in their offense, but how is it that New England is the team that constantly makes these trades to get higher picks next year? Are no other teams willing to do it - instead they all focus on this year?
