Let's try this again, third time's a charm hopefully:
1. Vick's extension is close. In fact, I would expect it to be announced very soon. DeSean's will get done, but it's not nearly as close.
My opinion is that one is tied to another. No way Vick's cap number will be as high as it is now for this year and a lot of that money saved will go to Jackson.
2. Expect some LBs in here sooner than later as 'they're not happy with the depth at the position' (my retort was 'yeah, no kidding. I couldn't name three LB on the team much less three starting ones'

).
3. You know what they said about Samuel not going anywhere. Yeah....don't believe it. If they get the right deal, he's gone. They've talked to three teams already (he was hush, hush on the teams).
4. Look for MJG to be back soon for some O-line depth. I'm frankly shocked it hasn't happened yet.

DH.1) Vick's extension is obvious, glad to hear from the horse's mouth though it's looming
2) We all know DJax isn't going anywhere, and as Pasquino noted, the new rules make it impossible for a lengthy holdout. He'll show up, pout a bit, and then play. If he produces and stays on the field, they'll make the numbers work. We all know that.
3) LB is looking ROUGH right now. Playing Casey Matthews at MLB?

Chaney and Clayton have potential, but it's just
potential for now. Beyond that we're talking about rookies Lloyd and Rolle. Not. A. Good. Look.
4) I'm of mixed mind on Samuel. I get that trading him helps in many ways. We'll get more picks. We'll free up cap space. And we'll keep him from being a locker room problem. But I would LOVE in an ideal world to keep him and have DRC in the nickel. Wow that would be tremendous.
5) I was wondering about Jean-Gilles. The Mathis signing was solid IMHO and with he and Vandervelde in the fold (and obviously Danny Watkins), wasn't sure there was a place for Big Max anymore.
Thanks to DH for the updates. Makes perfect sense re: Vick / DeSean.
By the way - DeSean HAS TO REPORT BY 8/9. According to the new CBA, you don't get an accrued season unless you're in camp by then - so he won't risk missing that date.
Heard Mike Missanelli on ESPN this AM shedding light on Maclin. That concerns me quite a bit as I have Maclin worth more to Philly than DeSean as a steady contributor (and a great compliment to DeSean's big play abilities). I hope that works itself out.
As for LB - obviously the biggest issue now on defense. Who can they bring in? IIRC Tulloch and Ruud signed, is that right (not that Ruud's a good fit).
What about this idea - Asante for D. Levy in Detroit.....
Ruud signed a one-year deal with Tennessee. Not that the Eagles would be interested in any or all of these guys, but here are the best FA linebackers left on the market:
[*]Manny Lawson (OLB) -- Probably not a good fit as he's more of a 3-4 rush OLB
[*]Stephen Cooper (ILB) -- I love Cooper, but he's another 3-4 guy (inside though) and wants big dough
[*]Channing Crowder (ILB) -- The Fins seemed to be high on Crowder, but then released him unceremoniously. He's young and tough, could see trying him at MLB but I'm not holding my breath
[*]Ben Leber (OLB) -- A 4-3 weakside LB in Minny. Never made a ton of plays, but would be a clear upgrade over what we have on the roster
[*]Rocky McIntosh (ILB) -- McIntosh had a productive season inside as a 3-4 guy last year, but I think he could play OLB for us
[*]Kirk Morrison (ILB) -- Morrison is my personal top choice in terms of need and yet someone I could see the Eagles grabbing. He's a tackling machine and can play the 4-3 MLB spot for us immediately. He's not as old as I thought either (29)
[*]Lofa Tatupu (ILB) -- I know Tatupu is going to be a guy lots of people hope we sign, but his injuries give me pause. I would rather have someone like Morrison
Incidentally, we have a rocking and rolling (and up to date) Free Agent Tracker that I'm keeping updated:

It also includes trades, released players, etc...
