What a poorly run team.

Mismanaged Crawford injury.

Mismanaged Bard.

Playing a clearly hurt/ineffective Youk trying to boost trade value at the expense of the future at the position who was raking before becoming a part time player.

Playing Pedroia despite a torn muscle, his production since returning shows he can't play through it.

What's next?

Maybe their fans turn fair-weather?

LOL @ Buck and McCarver hammering Ortiz for dogging it around the bases (causing him to get thrown out at the plate when Cecil Fielder carrying Prince on his back would have scored on the same play). When has Ortiz EVER hustled? When has David Ortiz ever cared about anyone except David Ortiz? That play encapsulated everything that's wrong with this bunch of morons.

So yesterday, Youk pinch hits, he triples, he's removed for a pinch runner, he gets a standing ovation from the crowd, he goes into the dugout, comes back out for a loud curtain call, then runs down the tunnel because he's just been traded.

My question is, how did the people in attendance know this? I wouldn't think that's the kind of thing they'd announce to the crowd.

He didn't pinch hit, he started.

And to answer the question, most reports said a deal for him was imminent. Boston fans are obnoxious but they aren't necessarily stupid.

Ahhh, so he did. I didn't see the game, but thought I heard that.

Yeah, still odd to me though when I was watching highlights of it this morning:
Youkilis, a subject of recent trade rumors, was lifted for a pinch-runner after hitting a triple in the seventh inning. After the game, it was announced that he was traded to the Chicago White Sox for utilityman Brent Lillibridge and right-hander Zach Stewart.

Youkilis was greeted with a hug from Nick Punto, who pinch-ran for him, and many of his teammates on the top step of the dugout.

The burley infielder, in his ninth season with the Red Sox, took his helmet off and waved to the crowd, blew a kiss and was urged to come out for a curtain call by his teammates before heading down the steps. He was given a lengthy standing ovation and the fans chanted, "Yook."
It wasn't a typical "good job, good effort" fan reaction. It was clearly goodbye.I was just wondering how the fans were so certain of it. Just the fact V sent in a pinch-runner?

My guess would be when his teammate greeted him with a hug at 3rd base. That's, umm, not normal.

Considering Youkilis is probably the biggest homo in baseball, I'm not sure that was strange at all.

Did a quick search ... no discussion in this thread with Adrian Gonzalez's lack of production?
I think his shoulder is still bothering him. I thought my infield was set for the long term with him + Kipnis + Starlin + Longo but am beginning to think I may be mining for 1B's next year.

:lmao:Remember Porcello vs. Youk? Classic.
 I didn't think it was possible but that move made Youk look even more like an idiot than ever before. He runs out all puffed up, he throws his helmet at Porcello like a sissy, then proceeds to get himself into a headlock and get whipped to the ground by a 21 year old kid. Youkilis will always be one of the bigger d-bags in the sport.

sorry to see youk go. i always liked him.

the team's playing pretty friggen well recently.... yanks at the end of the week

Youk is tearing it up with the ChiSox. How are things going with you guys?
####ty west coast swing.....you?And 2 games is a great sample size.
Think he's been with CHW just a couple more than 2 games, but thanks for pretending to pay attention.
If my numbers are right, he was 6/26, .231 with 3 RBI before he started tearing it up. So unless RN thinks .230 is tearing it up, and I dont think he does. I tend to think he was referencing the same two games I was, July 3rd and 4th 5/10 .500 with 5 RBI. But thanks for being a ####.

So your small sample size is OK, but RN's isn't.got it.

Say hi to Brent Lillibridge for us.

Youk with an RBI in 8 consecutive games. The guys been huge for the White So........oh ####! Wrong Sox thread.

Sorry. Never mind me.

As much as I hate to say it, you got yourselves a future superstar there in Middlebrooks. Now if they would just give him a real jersey number.

Bill James, senior advisory for the sox, with some embarrassing comments regarding Paterno and Penn St. Many in the Boston area are looking for him to be fired. Sure sox management is thrilled.

It has been tough to be enthusiastic about this team because I think there are a lot of unlikeable players. But Middlebrooks is a bright spot.

Is Pedro Ciriaco gonna see some good playing time or will he be sent to the bench once Pedrioa comes back? How long do you think Ciriaco is gonna get regular at bats?

And is he legit? And chance he can keep this up?

Thanks.

Where do to think he plays when Pedroia comes back?

I don't know. I'm not really a baseball guy so I don't know much. I'm a football guy that got dragged into fantasy baseball and am trying to find guys who can steal bases.

1) Yes legit - he hit just over .300 for Pirates in limited appearances last year2) BUT headed to the bench if not the minors when Pedroia returns

I never realized Ross had this kinda power until I watched him every night.

He hits some moon shots completely out of Fenway.

I came in to ponder whether Ross could keep up this level of performance. At his current rate of production, he would have 118 runs scored, 41 HR, and 129 RBI when projected to 600 at bats.
