what happened to Adrian Gonzalez? This guy could rake in Petco and put up a near MVP year last year with a shoulder injury. Now, supposedly healthy, he's not hitting.

It always looks to me like his uniform is bugging him. He tugs on it after every pitch. It's Carlos Zambrano-esque. Maybe he should quit worrying about how he looks and swing the effing bat.
 
Yadier IS the best defensive catcher in the game - but his deal had more to do with the fact they didn't resign Pujols. There would have been riots in the streets if they lost both.

Wieters won a gold glove last year and also won the Fielding Bible award as the best defensive catcher in baseball. :shrug: Molina is tremendous, he and Wieters are probably close but Wieters is younger and probably the leader of the golden age of catchers. Guess he'll get a 10 year $1 billion at this rate.

All that being true - I follow the Cards a lot closer. I think Molina calls an excellent game in addition to his defense. He just seems to be the heart and soul of that team. Not sure if that is a HUGE compliment - because I used to think Eckstein was the heart and soul of the Crds back when he played there. So there, I just compared Molina to Eckstein. I feel dirty.

I get to watch Wieters quite a bit here (and don't see the Cards alot) so this is understandable. Wieters really is one of the best defensive catchers I've ever seen though, he gets to everything and you just assume a baserunner is out when he takes off running. Very fun watching a catcher with that type of ability, I have to go back to Lance Parrish to find a good comparison as far as a guy I see a lot.

The umpire ejecting Henderson Alvarez just now is a far worse call than the strikes on Lawrie last week. 1-2 count with 2 outs, inside pitch, doesn't even hit Kinsler and he's tossed, no warnings, nothing.

Was Hamels even ejected when he deliberately nailed Harper?

No but Zimmermann was warned when he hit Hamels

Was that the first batter you saw in that game?The previous three Ranger batters had just gone back-back-back with home runs off the guy

Didn't see the game but as described, this is horrible. Maybe if that was the first pitch then you say OK, the guy was ticked off and went after it but on a 1-2 count when he can finally end the inning and it didn't even plunk the guy that is a horrible call. So because 3 jacks are hit the guy can't set up a strike out pitch outside by going inside? Unless the pitcher is straight smirking about it afterwards that is pathetic.
 
Watching the Met game, and announcers just reported that Halladay was pinch hit for in the Philly game in the 2nd inning. Anybody know what's happening there? Injury?

yeah, he's been pretty disappointing. not sure why he's not hitting, either. he's supposedly healthy. plays in a hitter's park. the rest of the offense doesn't seem to be struggling.

Exactly, if he was going to hit him, it would have happened on the first pitch. You don't get a guy 1-2 then plunk him.Also for people in leagues with 1 game eligibility, Brett Lawrie is currently at SS and Bautista at 3B for the Jays (Kelly Johnson injured and unavailable and Yunel Escobar came out due to injury as well).

It certainly is scary ####, he hasnt been the usual Doc since ST. Lost some velocity from last year. And knowing him he's probably been pitching through the pain for awhile. Crossing fingers that it's nothing serious.Roy Oswalt to the courteous phone, paging Mr. Roy Oswalt.
