Regardless, if you're in the NFL substance abuse program and you smoke weed DURING THE SEASON, you're a ####### dope. No pun intended.
Normally I agree with you but here I do not.Regardless, if you're in the NFL substance abuse program and you smoke weed DURING THE SEASON, you're a ####### dope. No pun intended.
Absolutely. No question there. The question is what punishment the ####### dope deserves.Regardless, if you're in the NFL substance abuse program and you smoke weed DURING THE SEASON, you're a ####### dope. No pun intended.
How so? I mean I understand many, many players smoke during the season but those guys aren't subject to drug testing for weed. Right?Normally I agree with you but here I do not.Regardless, if you're in the NFL substance abuse program and you smoke weed DURING THE SEASON, you're a ####### dope. No pun intended.
It's available at more than a few places. This is a horrible excuse. It doesn't matter what substance it is - it's called discipline. Alcohol is readily available too, yet there is no excuse for using it at inopportune times. I live in Denver where they sell bud in stores seemingly on every corner, yet there is no city-wide sentiment of empathy when someone gets caught using here. We just think "What a moron. Smoke in the offseason"It wouldn't surprise me at all if he Seahawks continue to see increased failed tests for substance abuse until the league eases up on MJ; it's just too readily available up here. And the #### is good to boot.Let's not let that get in the way of a good rant. These aren't PED suspensions...
Actually, I know that, but having a previous one pretty much ruins the "damaging my reputation" aspect of the incorrect initial story or for it having any bearing on his appeal for this one or a potential lawsuit for libel.Actually, the previous PED suspension has no influence on the current potential suspension. This article is a great primer for where everything currently stands for Browner:I don't see it happening. It's black and white, not a judgment call like head shots. Plus he's already got the PED suspension. Even if the rule about absentee tests is exceptionally unfair, the nflpa agreed to it and therefore he did. He knew what the consequences would be and that he was getting tested often and he still got high. No reason whatsoever to give him leniency and he certainly doesn't deserve it. If he has a serious problem then I hope he gets help because sitting out a year and knowing he pissed away ten million dollars is certainly enough to think about doing drastic things.I don't think he will or necessarily that he should. I would *like* for that to be the case since it helps the team but the guy knew what he was doing and got caught. Whether it is the first offense or not, the idea that he figured he could just do it and not face consequences was extremely selfish. If another Seattle player gets off or a reduced sentence again, people's heads will blow up.![]()

It's amazing how doltish you are and how you easily get things wrong so often. The NFL is a national organization. Unless it's legal across the country, it can't be legal for the league. Individual teams with different rules isn't possible. It's really, really simple. Idiots know the rules and they get caught, they are utter morons and the people making excuses for them are almost worseNormally I agree with you but here I do not.Regardless, if you're in the NFL substance abuse program and you smoke weed DURING THE SEASON, you're a ####### dope. Thanks...but I understand the rules....unlike you. Re- read what I wrote, then read it again. You mean not being able to pull his head from his rear and actually comprehend English? That kind of Packer fan ?Stop acting like Packers fans!!!!!!!!!!
It's Thanksgiving!!!!!!!
I merely made the statement which I believe to be true; there was no defense of anyone nor protestation of the rule (which does suck, by the bye). If you are looking to preach to someone you should hop on twitter and address the players directly. It's available at more than a few places. This is a horrible excuse. It doesn't matter what substance it is - it's called discipline. Alcohol is readily available too, yet there is no excuse for using it at inopportune times. Sure, many laws and rules are silly - in the NFL and society as a whole. But if you can't stop smoking weed during the season when you're being paid millions of dollars on that stipulation; if you can't stop smoking when your entire team is depending on you to be there; if you can't stop smoking when it's jeopardizing your career - then you have a problem. The problem is not the weed or whether you think it's ok or not - the problem is your addiction (not chemically) or your lack of ability to make good decisions.
The excuse and/or defense of these guys is baffling. Here in Denver Von made a mistake and most of us think (and say) he's a fool. Why are Seattle fan's not doing the same (for the 7 (or 8?)) that have been screwing up for their team?
ETA - Some defending the players. Others are not. I don't want to lump any fanbase together.
What he said.I've been following this team since 1978 and I can honestly say this is probably the best team they've had (That '84 team if Warner had not gotten hurt was at least as good if not better though). I worry about the talent we have at WR but that would be rectified if Harvin can ever get healthy. Baldwin is solid, Kearse isn't bad either but this unit without Rice and Harvin is just meh. Makes what Wilson has done even more amazing, and the guy played without his starting tackles for most of the season.
Defense is crazy when they want to be. I thought the injury to Browner and the Thurmond suspension were overrated, and I was right (maxwell played great). They had to stop the run tonight and then all of a sudden it was 17-0, so there went any chance the Saints had to establish the run. Once this team gets ahead they just hunt and gather hits, fumbles and interceptions. Very aggressive, very hard to play against from behind.
I think they lose one of the next two, but they can't sleep walk thinking they have homefield. I would count the 49ers game as a loss next week and the Giants have played a lot better of late, so that isn't a gimme. Then the Rams and Cards in Seattle, so hopefully they can split the next two weeks to give themselves a cushion. I'm not as confident as some other fans, I think in the NFL you can lose any road game you play so they can't sleep on the Giants if they lose next week.
Anyway, great win tonight. I almost wished it had been closer, then I remember that a blowout win gives me a lot less stress.

What a level-headed, well worded post. If only all fans of any team (myself included) could post in kind. Two game lead for home field with 4 games to play. And the Hawks have the h2h tiebreaker with both teams who are two games behind them because they've beat them both. Also, this 2nd half thing looks like it's happening again. And we've clinched a playoff spot already![]()

That is interesting. Thanks for posting.Interesting...
Although the Seahawks are decisively rated as the best team at home, their homefield advantage rating was only bumped up to #9 in the NFL after last night's game, because they are also decisively the best team on the road, which renders the difference between Home v. Road (homefield advantage) only marginal.

Do you mean one year is off the table?Per John Clayton on local radio (reading this on twitter, so it's like fourth-hand info), a 1 game suspension is off the table, and Browner is pushing for no suspension. Clayton thinks it's a possibility.

That's cool. At least you didn't say it was a 1 year PED suspension and post it as breaking news on the NFL's official website, or something.I do. Yeah he said this on Saturday as well, giving the entire backstory. Here is the whole audio clip, Browner stuff starts at around 8:00 to about 13:00.Per John Clayton on local radio (reading this on twitter, so it's like fourth-hand info), a 1 year suspension is off the table, and Browner is pushing for no suspension. Clayton thinks it's a possibility.
Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner is believed to have turned down a deal offered by the NFL as he seeks a fine and no lost games, John Clayton reported on 710 ESPN on Tuesday, and Clayton says Browner is unlikely to face the yearlong suspension the NFL originally planned to levy for what appears to be his first positive test for substance abuse.
"I think he has been offered one deal and has turned it down," said Clayton, who checked for an update on the case Tuesday. "The one year I think is going to be off the table. But I don’t think he settles for anything less than a four-paycheck, no-suspension type of arrangement. If not, I think he takes it to federal court. I think he feels very good about his case."
Clayton also said there was no timetable at this point.
"He had three days of hearings last week, all done by phone, and he's still awaiting a verdict," Clayton said. "He's still not anticipating anything very quickly."
Browner is facing a full year's suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, reportedly for testing positive for a small amount of marijuana.
A group consisting of 100 contributors have pooled together $1,809 to fly the banner that will read, "GO HAWKS-12" for 15 minutes. The airplane towing the banner is expected to reach Candlestick Park 10 minutes prior to kickoff of the Seahawks-49ers game. Seahawks fans Cedric James Morris and Travis Platt created a FundRazr account to come up with the resources and already have made $509 more than their initial goal.

Yeah right, you're an icon of class. Cedric runs a Southern Califirnia Seahawks fan club with events and signings and game days at a bar in Culver City (next to Santa Monica). If you fight the NFL, you better be darn sure you've dotted every "i" and crossed every "t", because if you haven't and you're proven to be lying, then it only gets worse.Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner is believed to have turned down a deal offered by the NFL as he seeks a fine and no lost games, John Clayton reported on 710 ESPN on Tuesday, and Clayton says Browner is unlikely to face the yearlong suspension the NFL originally planned to levy for what appears to be his first positive test for substance abuse.

I think you'll be fine. Carroll was just saying on the radio how one issue he had thought about is wanting to be sharp going into the postseason, and past teams had faltered with having nothing to play for the last week or 2 of the regular season.Question for y'all. In my local league, I have Seattle's defense. And we have a week 17 championship game!
:gunshot: ... wasn't my idea.
Anyway, Seattle is on the verge of locking up the #1 seed pretty soon here. I'm wondering what you guys think the odds are of Pete sitting many of his defensive starters in the final week? My GUT tells me he's not that kind of coach. He'll want to keep the momentum going. And the fact they'll have a bye week helps my cause, I think. I can maybe see him giving Lynch and some of the older veterans most of the final week off, but he would never realistically sit half of his defense, right?
It's such a juicy damn matchup, too. Home to the Rams. That will be a mauling if they are inspired enough.
I concur. Dr., do you concur?I think you'll be fine. I don't have the exact quote but I remember him saying he finds more value in playing his guys and keeping their edge rather than resting them. I'd start with confidence, especially at home.
I say they swarm the next two weeks and ease up a bit in week 17. They aren't gonna lose that game though meaning the Rams will be behind, meaning vulture opportunities. Even with some guys resting I think they hold the Rams in check. Even for week 17, I would think you'd have trouble finding a better D/ST.I concur. Dr., do you concur?I think you'll be fine. Saints fans.... I'm guessing their mouths are still swollen from the beat down the hawks laid on them.Remember when the collective was making fun of Seahawks fans who were pointing out that there were some good backups, and that this secondary would still be very good even without two of their top 3 corners?
Remember how everyone said the only reason we were saying that is because we were a bunch of dumb bandwagon jumping homers, and there's no way we had 5 CB's who could start for most NFL teams?
I don't actually remember who was saying that, because they've been so quiet lately.

and I always thought Lane was the weak link but he had a hell of a game today. He might be the best tackler in the secondary. He does this weird thing, I think it's called "wrapping up" instead of just going for the hit. BTW, another bs penalty on Kam for hitting "in the head" despite rocking the shoulder.
