I don't see any reason to get excited about the unofficial times. Why even talk about them until we know what the official times are? You can almost always add .1 to those unofficial NFL Network times.
Exactly.

I just measured Evans' second run, here are my splits:

10: 1.67

20: 2.70

40: 4.60
How are you measuring them?
Frame count using video. No stopwatches here.
What is the error on the framerate?

As god intended.

Would be nice if NFL Network actually improved their production quality.

Sound is dropping out intermittently, just as it has on most of their live telecasts (for me anyways).

Just went over Evans' 1st run, ran a lot better:

10: 1.67

20: 2.67

40: 4.49
Were you surprised by the time, better than expected?

I thought 4.55, looked like he had build up speed.

At 29.97 +/- .03. Would be nice to have 59.94.

Yeah, he picked it up at the end. The 2nd run, showed less intensity.

Only 34" vert for Watkins, surprising.
10'6" broad jump. I thought he would be more explosive, too. Can't wait for the 40!
Almost identical numbers to A.J. green though. 34.5" vert and 126" broad for AJG. Of course he has the elite height on his side.
Good information, thanks.
Green had a 4.48 40, 4.21 shuttle and 6.91 3 cone for future reference.

Recent combine comparisons: 40yd/VJ/BJ/SS/3C using 40 time and ht/wt:

Torrey Smith 4.41, 41, 126, 4.13, 6.72

Pierre Garcon 4.42, 36.5, 125, 4.19, 6.90

Cordarrelle Patterson 4.42, 37, 128

Still nice. Thanks for your work.

Thanks, good research.

Sammy the fastest. I see the Smith and Garcon comps a lot (also Roddy White) for size, so well chosen.

I think Watkins is a more natural football player than Smith, a more complete WR, more physical RAC.

I'm really high on Patterson, I think he is in the top 5 conversation in a few years.

Jeff Janis. 4.30 you gatta be kidding me. Fastest white WR ever?
They just showed his run superimposed with the other 4.30 times today along with Marquis Goodwin from last year and Janis was clearly behind the others, no way his official time is 4.30.

I think I've said it before, but Watkins reminds me of R. White.
Roddy is a bit thicker, not sure about stronger or more physical, because that describes Watkins, too.

White was a state wrestling champ, which is more of a lineman skill set, it must help with an intuitive sense of leverage on things like defeating press coverage.

We don't know if Sammy is the fastest. We don't have an official time. Patterson had a hand time similar to Sammy.

They will have to take the average of his 2 runs and his 2nd run was a tenth slower.

Wrestling isn't really more of a lineman skillset, the weight classes in the bottom half of the range are almost always the more skilled, athletic, technical athletes. It almost becomes a different sport entirely when you talk about lineman-sized guys wrestling, different type of competition.

@evansilva: Vincent Brown's Combine measurables: 5'11 1/4, 187. 4.68 forty. Jarvis Landry's Combine measurables: 5'11 1/2, 205. 4.65 forty.

WR's that improved:

Brandin Cooks 4.3- I've always liked Cooks and this solidifies himself as a 1st/2nd round grade. He plays bigger than his size.

Jordan Mathews 4.4- Mathews isn't great at any one thing and I thought he was an underrated athlete. This proves that.

Mike Evans 4.47- He broke 4.5(probably will go up when it's official) but that's all some people needed to see. However, I think his 3 cone/short shuttle will be more useful in his assessment.

Brandon Coleman 4.5- Here's a forgotten 6'6 220 WR that put up 21 reps in the bench and ran a 4.5. He had a down year at Rutgers and he helped himself today.

Odell Beckham 4.31- He was my #4 WR pre-combine and showed exactly what popped off of tape...explosiveness.

Jared Abbrederis 4.44- I'm sorry Jared, I didn't watch enough of you. I'll go back and watch more tape.

Martavis Bryant 4.34- at 6.3 and 4.34....the football world will all increase his stock.

Donte Moncrief 4.4- Moncrief is smooth so it doesn't look like he works hard on the field...but he was an underrated athlete.

WR's that hurt their stock:

Jarvis Landry 4.65- I didn't think Landry was a good athlete and this proved it. He has good hands and now may be a NFL WR3

Allen Robinson 4.6- He didn't look like a great athlete on film and this proves it. He has more work to his game than people thought.

That's all for now.

@Ken_Laird: NT Louis Nix says he lost 23 lbs down to 331. "If teams want me to stay there I'll stay. If teams want me to get sexier I got it"

:lmao:

Brandin Cooks with an Official 4.33. Wow better than my measurement. Though mine was just based on one run.

Manziel with an official 4.68
That's a pretty disappointing time. I know he's more quick than fast but still, that's surprising.
I thought Manziel would try to bulk up. I guess he's going for a faster 40x. He'll make more money running a 4.4 for sure.

He did have 9 7/8ths inch hand-size, which is good, but not the gigantic 10.5″ some predicted.

And he measured under 6". The legend is being torn down piece by piece.
Keep it coming...

This a why you need to wait for the official times. Not anything close to the hand times on most of them.

Official Top 10 WR 40 Times

Brandin Cooks 4.33

John Brown 4.34

Donte Moncrief 4.40

Paul Richardson 4.40

Jeff Janis 4.42

Martavis Bryant 4.42

Odell Beckham 4.43

Sammy Watkins 4.43

Albert Wilson 4.43

Jalen Saunders 4.44

I think Quentin Patton or Kendall Wright would be a better comps:

Patton: 6-0, 204, 4.52

Wright: 5-10, 196, 4.61
