McCoys value just dropped! Big time. No way they trade for a guy who is exclusively a pass catcher and they are not going to throw him the ball. As a Sproles owner I love him being in this offense and think he loses little to no value since he never ran much anyways.

Guess this means Bryce Brown is likely moving on.

Record setting offense keeps the OLine intact, brings back all 11 starters, then adds Maclin and Sproles.

ST's resigns the quality P and adds a lethal returner, as well as a LB and S who are ST's standouts

D upgrades S from Chung to Jenkins.

Want to see what pick they gave up, but if cheap what a weapon Sproles is!

@AlbertBreer: Trade done ... RT @RapSheet: Its the #Eagles for Darren Sproles

**eta**

I'm late to the party :lmao:

How do you figure? McCoy is still going to get plenty of use. I hope people are scared off from Shady so he drops to late first round again. Ridiculous value.

I'd guess 4th or 5th since they most likely were cutting him.

The knee jerk reactions need to stop though. We just have a lesser Shady to put in when Shady needs a rest. I want to see what they gave up but this seems like a steal on the surface IMO

Yeah I can't see the best weapon on the team being devalued. Sproles is a nice addition, but will clearly be 2nd fiddle. Good signing!

@MikeClayNFL: A reminder that 50 of Sproles' 95 targets came while lined up at wide receiver last season. #Eagles

@MikeClayNFL: Sproles caught an incredible 43 of 50 targets at wideout. aDOT on those was 4.5. #Eagles

This. Shady cannot have 400 touches a year...Sproles does what McCoy does out of the backfield and is really a deathknell to the value of Polk and Brown is out the door JMO.

@JasonLaCanfora: Several GMs I spoke to over past week believed Saints could get a 5th round pick for Sproles. Would imagine trade compensation in that range

Wow, this offense is going to be impossible to stop. We're talking Madden-like points per game here most likely.

@MikeClayNFL: This hurts McCoy a little, Ertz a bit, and the Eagles WRs will all lose a target or 5 over a full season. Polk/Brown buried.

@ProFootballTalk: Per league source, Saints get fifth-round pick for Darren Sproles from Eagles.

@FieldYates: Source: the Saints receive the 2014 5th round pick New England sent for Isaac Sopoaga in exchange for RB Darren Sproles.

@adamlevitan: Sproles turns 31 in June, but is entering the final year of his contract. Eagles are a contender, so no downside in giving up a 5th-rd pick.

Agreed! Resigning Peters, Kelce, and Cooper. Adding playmakers like Maclin and Sproles

Year two of this offense could be huge as Foles and Ertz improve.

Just stay healthy!

Special teams and offense MUCH improved, focus on D on the draft. Pass rushers!

I would think this really hurts Riley Cooper. Somebody tweeted that a bunch of Sproles' receptions last year came lined up as a WR.

I could see Kelly trying to get Sproles and Shady out there together.

If Maclin / DJax are your top 2 WR, then your 5th skill position player comes down to Riley Cooper / Ertz.

I'll be honest, unless someone on offense drops way too low so that you'd be crazy not to take him, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if their draft is completely defensive players.

I don't give a damn about Cooper's value. Dude just got paid the most $ ever for having an 800/8 season. This, however, totally boosts the offense. Should truly be a "pick your poison" offense to stop.

OL, was exactly the position I was thinking of when I mentioned a player who may 'drop lower than expected' since this draft is pretty deep in talent there. Maybe WR too since it seems they are having problems with DeSean.

@BenVolin: #WheelRoutes RT @RLiuNFL: Since 2011, only 2 @NFL RBs have 150+ catches & 8+ rec TDs: Darren Sproles & LeSean McCoy. #Eagles

no idea how any team would cover a backfield showing sproles and mccoy. Love this move and I fully expect the eagles to now score around 50% of the time vs 37% last year

I'm almost certain no one cares that you own Darren Sproles. You don't technically "own" him anyway. It's refreshing to have a coach/GM putting an emphasis on special teams players. Sproles easily fields every kick and punt return. He also replaces some of the scrubs we have beyond the top receivers. He's a really versatile player that can be used at RB/WR/KR, not just "exclusively a pass catcher." That seems to be a CK theme when it comes to player evaluations. Cool signing.

Foles is the biggest winner this offseason. 16 starts into his career, 33/7 TD-INT ratio and they add Maclin, Sproles, and a 2yr Ertz while subtracting only Avant. If he can take even a small step forward in his growth, the projected numbers are difficult to fathom.

CB Nolan Carroll in the fold.

RT @AdamSchefter: And now the Eagles have reached agreement with former Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll. Philly moving and shaking.

9:55am - 13 Mar 14

Confirming @MikeGarafolo: Nolan Carroll signed a two-year contract worth $5.2 million plus incentives, per an NFL source.

10:08am - 13 Mar 14

@Jeff_McLane: Again, Nolan Carroll fits mold of what the #Eagles want at CB. Long guys that are versatile and can tackle. Had 18th-best tackle efficiency.

@Jeff_McLane: Some are pointing out that Carroll measured in at a shade under 6-0 at the combine. But has 31-inch arms - above avg for CB.

@Jeff_McLane: Nolan Carroll -- started in 12 of 16 games played last season and recorded 3 INTs. Started 10 in '12, 3 in '11, 1 in '10.

Howie must have eaten his Wheaties this morning. Primed for a very productive day... how about a pass rusher, a QB and a kicker?

NY is about to lose Nicks. They ran out and sign Jennings lol. The Cowboys lose Ware and Austin. I know they've all been hurt, but now you don't even have to game plan or consider a bounce back season for for either.

This is just great.

Carroll's advanced coverage numbers in 2013 were indeed rather impressive, and he has been incredibly consistent throughout the past three seasons. In 451 coverage snaps, the fourth year corner allowed just 43 receptions, or 10.5 coverage snaps per reception. To provide some context to that, Chris Harris allowed a reception every 11.6 coverage snaps, while DRC was third in the entire league, allowing a reception every 15.7 coverage snaps (advanced stats courtesy of Pro Football Focus).

Opposing quarterbacks did not fare well when throwing at Carroll, with just a 65.0 quarterback rating when targeting receivers who were covered by the Dolphins corner. This number is identical to the rating that opposing QBs had when

throwing at Chris Harris; DRC registered a 67.8 QBR against in 2013.

This is why I dislike the big signings. Quality volume. Go into the draft NEEDING nothing. Draft BPA. Awesome.

:goodposting:

I get the mentality that Sproles will eat into Shady's workload. With the volume of plays this offense will run, I don't think there's any reason they're both not valuable at where their respective ADP's fall. I agree completely with insein, I want the "market" to fear monger people into passing on Shady until late 1st so that I can grab him there. I don't see his value dropping much if at all for fantasy.

For reality, this is freaking unreal. Two (debatably) top talent RB's in the stable that can be used at will, possibly even in 2 RB sets if that makes sense. Everyone back + additions. Whew, is it week 1 yet?

There's no pass rushers out there....maybe Woodley?

Im starting to think Vick has zero interest from any team now and eventually ends up back here

And is there any good kickers out there?

Imagine McCoy, DJax & Sproles lined up in the backfield. Ertz and Maclin wide. In a fast-paced offense.

Wonder if this is because DeSean is getting moved and they want him in the return game...
Desean barely returned punts. Sproles would have zero impact on whether desean got moved or not.
Ehhh... DeSean is a decent draft pick (*crosses fingers* Jordan Matthews) from really looking like an even more ridiculous contract. He's getting top-5 WR money! If you believe in Foles and Chip's system then there is a strong case for not paying him 36M+ over the next few years. I'll say that much.

I'd guess 4th or 5th since they most likely were cutting him.
Darren Sproles only netted a 5th round pick so Brown won't fetch a 4th.

Right now with Shady and Sproles as the #1 and #2 RBs it devalues Polk and Brown so if they can get anything for Bryce they should try.

This is a very-deep draft and even a 5fh rounder holds value so if they can get a 5th or even a 6th for Brown they should pull the trigger since so few teams need RBs.

You can tell they're putting an emphasis on special teams, this Sproles addition should be a great boost to our return units.

In addition, prepare for a lot of two back sets, it was prolific at Oregon, I expected it to be here with Brown and McCoy, but Brown turned out not to fit the skill set. You're going to see McCoy and Sproles on the field together a lot. Last year you would constantly see McCoy and Desean running to different sides of the field, as they were the focal points. This year, you're going to see McCoy and Sproles to opposite sides, putting even more pressure on a defense, not to mention Maclin back in the fold. Just picture it:

McCoy

DeSean

Sproles

Maclin

Cooper

All on the field. Have fun. Then, when you roll out the next series, you'll get no Sproles / Cooper, and Ertz / Celek instead.

You're going to see the Eagles gameplan week to week, some weeks will feature 2TE heavy attacks, others a 2RB heavy attack, what ever exploits the weakness of the D. From a fantasy perspective, I'd stay away from Sproles / Cooper / Maclin, I think in a roto format they'd be fine, but for H2H they have the potential to be wildly inconsistent.

You have to factor into that, that that contract will look less and less like a big deal as the cap rises.
