According to Jason La Canfora, Dolphins are gauging the value of a trade for Dion Jordan. What about Brandon Graham and our 2nd rounder?
As many of you know this is the top guy I wanted last year. If he truely is being shopped I would do Graham and a 2 in a heart beat. I'd even do the 1 straight up for him. Everyone knew he was coming off of the shoulder surgery and wouldnt be 100% until this year anyway.

I guess Miami is swicthing schemes?
No, the problem is they're NOT switching schemes. They tried making him a 4-3 DE last year and that flopped. He needs to be a 3-4 OLB and the Dolphins don't run that.
Still a mind boggling pick. I'd have bet my life savings they were going to take Lane Johnson.

Dion's reaction at like :25 says it all. He was shocked.

Dear Jeffrey, Howie, and Chip,

I want to make you all aware of my combine numbers. Would love to sit and meet with you.

40 - 5.3 (hand timed)

Bench - 17

Broad - 8'7"

Vertical - 31"

3 cone - 9.2

Wonderlic - 35

I'd also like to point out that I am a season ticket holder, section 209, row 19, seat 8. I could be ready at the drop of a hat. Great motor, intangibles.

Thank you for your consideration,

MM
Are you older than 25 AND are you a firefighter? If you answered "yes" to both questions, Kansas City is definitely interested.
LOL

Yes, and no.

I admit I loved the pick at the time. Oof!

For some reason I thought they already ran a 3-4, thanks!

@evansilva: #Eagles O ranked No. 2 in total yards last season & No. 4 in points. Will return all 5 OL starters & add Maclin. Foles & Ertz ascending.

God I hope this offense stays healthier next season, I'm pumped to see what Chip can do with Maclinlikely now (re)added to the mix, plus a full season with Foles, and Lane Johnson likely improving his consistency. I think it's given that a high pick or a free agent signing will go towards safety. I would like to see another pas rusher added one way or another and also a corner drafted.
Me too. And in addition to your points I think Ertz will improve greatly in year 2. Weapons galore. Foles with a full offseason and camp, more comfortable in year 2 of Chip's offense.

Just stay healthy!

@ZBerm: The Chip-Howie dynamic is interesting. Howie said they need to be "tied at the hip." Cooper was a guy that Chip really valued.
Something tells me we won't be seeing any more games being played like the Dawkins debacle. Joe Banner that ####### weasel. #### fat Andy Reid too.
Harsh, Andy Reid did what for your franchise again? I would love those four straight NFC Championship games and a trip to the Super Bowl. A little respect for that is deserved. I hope that type of comment with the "who can compete with us" post above does not sum up all Eagles fans.
Yea sure, it was a fun ride. But for the way they treated one of the greatest Eagles ever, not harsh at all.

Not much noteworthy stuff during his press conference other than Maclin saying he wants to be here long term and hopes that during the season they can work out a long term deal. He was offered a 5 year deal, but the money wasn't right. So if they can agree on a price, Maclin wants to be here for the long haul.

Wonder how much the deal he was offered differed from the Cooper deal?

@JasonLaCanfora: NFL just sent the memo out to teams: 2014 cap is $133M on the dot

@jeffphowe: The NFLPA announced the 2014 salary cap is $133 million, a $10M increase from 2013.

I am 100% convinced Dion Jordon was who the Eagles wanted badly! I'd love to see them get him.
@JasonLaCanfora: Just to reiterate, Dion Jordan absolutely was made available to NFL teams by the Dolphins. Um, and why would they ever "confirm" it. Please

Last year in the draft? Unlikely over Johnson. OT was the target. Jordan would have been the consolation.

Even with Maclin back and hopefully healthy, would still like to see them draft a WR.
I think with the Cooper and Maclin signings, there is no way they go wr in the first even with the deep talent level in this draft. Pass rusher or DB is almost a certainty.

Yeah if a top guy is there and he is truly BPA, then take the WR. The more weapons the better. We still got FA and possible trades before the draft still. With that said, Keenan Allen went in the 3rd last year. And this class is much deeper, so we could easily nab a good talent there this year.

I thought there was no way they would draft a TE last season.
Ertz had his best game of the season against Oregon and was a bit of a homer pick imo, but his emergence is another reason why they have to go d. It's hard to get all the current playmakers on the field.

I disagree. I think they wanted Jordan. Pretty sure guys in the know have said as much on Twitter.

So with the entire offense locked up and $20M in cap room still to play with, I'm very curious to see what the Birds' free agent priorities will be. I fully expect that they will pursue a safety - I don't think it will be a top dollar guy like Byrd or Ward, more likely a second-tier one like Jenkins or Clemons. (Probably draft one too of course) But beyond that... will they want to spend on another OLB when they've already got significant money invested in Cole and Barwin? I know they need depth at the position, but it seems more likely to be addressed on draft day. Ditto for CB, makes sense to draft one but I don't see it as a FA priority. That leaves the defensive line - will they look to add a true nose tackle? Logan played well last season, but he certainly doesn't have prototypical size. Linval Joseph would look good in midnight green... and it would be nice to pick the Giants' pocket too.

Its not all Eagles fans to me its mostly the ones that listen to the local morning radio station here that promotes negativity towards everything. I never understood with all the info you can get now that people still listen to them. I understand wanting Reid to go at the end and he was a hard guy to like but why such hate for a guy that did we he did I will never get. As for Banner he gets what he deserves he was a pure weasel to everyone

I think they will get a Wr somewhere in this draft especially if they release Avant I just hope they don't do a Banner and reach for any position. I actually want a lineman in the middle rounds also because to me Herramans took a big step back last year and odds are he will get worse not better

Oh I'm not advocating using their first on a WR, would much rather help the D there as well. (depending on what they do in FA too) Just thinking a top WR somewhere in the earlier rounds.

Maclin's on a 1 yr deal, DeSean's got what, 2 more years? Wouldn't mind seeing a good young WR drafted. Trade down might be good, depends who they like. They've had solid drafts the past two years, so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of a doubt.

Ray Diddy today on WIP was asked by glen what he though of Jordan. Ray was really, really down on him. Wow...said he was down in him last year and the the was definitely "against the stream" on that. Said he was good against mid-level competition but eaten up by good teams. Only one good burst and a "one trick pony." Would rather Vinny Curry. Damn....

It’s hard not to take offense to this. I didn’t even catch this post. I didn’t read it because I know you don’t frequent Eagles threads to my knowledge. You got a few pats on the head and I finally realized what was said. Don't peak your head in here to see what locals have to say about recent contracts and make wild assumptions. Do you think we are dumb enough not to remember what Andy Reid accomplished?

I didn’t elaborate when I asked “who can compete with us in the division,” but thanks for giving me the energy to do so. The Eagles have one of the most innovative coaches (coaching staffs) in the league. The Eagles have one of the best and most athletic offensive lines in the league signed for a few years now. The run game is dominant and the QB is coming off of one of the most efficient passing seasons ever in the history of the league. Since last offseason I’ve said the defense was a few pieces in the secondary from being above average. Most of the players want to be here and I think FA's will flock here as well. They are quietly building a championship caliber team under everyone’s noses while everyone is cought up in Johnny Manziel and Clowney talk.

The Giants look like us during the end of Andy Reid’s tenure. Romo is coming off of back surgery at the age of 32. Snyder and Jerry Jones are competing for the worse Owner/GM position annually. This is lining up to be a Patriots-like dominance over the division. I wanted to see what everyone else thought so I didn’t add my 2 cents. Bigboy, one of the better posters here (he’s like having Faust as Birds fan), agreed with me pretty much.

I wouldn’t mind speaking for all Eagles fans btw…

Even with Howie's stated BPA draft philosophy, I don't expect the Eagles to take a WR any earlier than the 3rd, given their need for defensive playmakers. Hopefully they can unearth a late-round gem. Looking over the combine results, two players who stand out to me are Cody Latimer and Quincy Enunwa. Apparently they're considered Day 3 prospects. Both have an impressive size/speed combo, but I know nothing about their skill level. Can anyone offer an opinion?

I dunno, I think many many eagles fans, even ones in here, have forgotten about Andy's triumphs and success here. You can go back through every post and struggle to find anything positive at all, but there are plenty of jabs at him and every player that hasn't worked out for us is "oh remember when Andy drafted this guy" or "We are still stung by Andy's terrible drafts". If we are all positive and happy about the future (I'm sure we are), then I think we can end the Andy hate/bitterness once and for all.

As for the team, I think all of us in here agree that we are in the best position of anyone in the division for next year and maybe going forward. But you'd be hard pressed to find many that use the word 'dominance" or comparing us to The Patriots where we're a lock to win the division many more years. It's an up and down league and you never know who will win the NFC east any given year. I think it's very possible that 1 of the other 3 teams can and will compete with us next year, and any year going forward even if it does look like we are in the best position right now of all of them.

Lost the locker room*, poor draft picks that the team is still trying to recover from, poor player personnel decisions and even poorer coaching personnel decisions - all marred the final years of Andy's tenure. Who can forget coaches fighting each other on the sidelines? Other than the national media.

And when it became obvious what needed to be done, all we fans heard from the national talking heads is how much we'd regret it. That we were impatient (!) and couldn't be satisfied. After all, we only gave him 14 years and us greedy fans really want a Championship. The gall.

Any body in here ever been divorced? I have. I'm pretty sure that all of us divorcees don't spend much time thinking about the beginning good years. We only remember the bitterness of the end--especially if you were really raked over. I know it's a stretch but it's how I felt after Reid was gone. Like the end of a bad divorce. And just like I don't wish my ex ill will, I certainly wouldn't want to find out she just hit the lotto for 10 million. This was why I was joyous when Reid blew that KC playoff game. Joyous I say!

You know though pretty much everything you said about Chip Kelly was also said about Reid early in his tenure. Reid looked like he was ahead of the game with his pass happy attack. Reid was building a top young Offensive line with good young rb. Reid also had some very good coaches on his staff. I also think Reid always struggled with clock management and I think Kelly does and challenges. They both had a young Qb who was very good at not turning the ball over. Outside of maybe Wr which Kelly inherited I don't that much of a difference in the two teams and this is why I'm not as gaga over Kelly as some others seem to be. I think Reid biggest problem was getting to much power because once Modrak got the boot the Eagles really went down hill with the drafts

It's the truth. It wasn't a happy ending...

Ya that makes sense actually. I've never been divorced so can't speak for that, but for those who have been, and have found a better girl afterwards, I wouldn't think they'd bring up their ex all the time and still be bitter. We shouldn't need to bring up and bash our ex in order to feel better about ourselves and our current situation. If we truely are happy with Chip now (I sure as heck am), then that's all that matters now. Maybe if Andy hadn't made poor decisions the last couple years then he'd still be here and we never would have gotten Chip. So right now in this moment, I'm happy for how things went and where we are right now.

I don't really think we've heard a lot of people saying we'd regret it if we let Andy go when we did. I think everybody and their dog knew it was time and a good decision for both sides.
