Chung or Henery should have sewn that one up.I stopped reading when they called Billy Davis the LVP for 2013.

He was absolutely mediocre in Oakland. The guy couldn't even start in Oakland. I think he had like 9 or 10 starts in 4 years. He became a FA and was signed to a 1 year deal with Carolina and had a career year. IMO, the guy is a product of the really strong front 7 of Carolina and will be Patrick Chung exposed here.Is he that bad?I also can't believe the Eagles are interested in Mike Mitchell. They could have had the guy last offseason. If they give him a multi-year deal with guaranteed money, I will throw up.
@SheilKapadia: Three Eagles numbers that matter (free agency edition): On Mike Mitchell's tackling, Cole's future and the WR market. http://t.co/usbAKU45kwHe was absolutely mediocre in Oakland. 18 The number of missed tackles last year for Panthers safety Mike Mitchell, according to Pro Football Focus. That was tied for most among safeties.
As we've mentioned in this space, the Eagles are one of the teams that has looked into signing Mitchell. But it seems like many of you would be against the move based solely on the missed tackles number. And that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Regular Birds 24/7 readers know I like incorporating stats when they make sense. But statistical analysis is extremely difficult with safeties, who oftentimes aren't even in the TV shot. Take Mitchell, for example. He played 920 total snaps. Let's assume for a second that his missed tackles came on 18 different plays. That is still a limited sample that accounts for less than 2 percent of his overall snaps. In other words, roughly 98 percent of the time, he was on the field for a play where he didn't miss a tackle. How did he perform in those instances?
Missed tackles are subjective. The number can vary depending on who's doing the charting, and a difference of two missed tackles can make a world of difference when using terms like tackling efficiency. Also, most safeties are going to have high numbers (14 of them missed at least 14 tackles, per PFF, including Earl Thomas). And three, tackling is something a player can improve on. We saw that last year with Nate Allen.
Tackling is obviously an important part of playing defense for any NFL player. But it is still only a part of the big picture. Mitchell (6 feet, 210) has good size and can run, plus he's only 26-years-old. Granted, he played on a team with a talented front seven last year, but Mitchell did a good job on the back end.
Given the market, I still think he's a decent mid-tier option for the Eagles.
What about a Dexter McCluster? He can still play.Per Schefter, Saints are shopping RB Pierre Thomas, RB Darren Sproles, and WR Lance Moore. I would have loved to see Sproles in this offense 4-5 years ago. Don't want to give up picks, though.
Buyer at 7.5@evansilva: Seems free agent FS Jairus Byrd's price is already coming down. Initially said to be seeking $9M per year, now reports say $8M annually.
I think if the Eagles can move him and/or Curry, they will. Just not good fits. If you remember, there were rumors at the trade deadline that Curry was on the block.Whats the word on Brandon Graham. I read earlier that he was on the trading block or likely to be cut. Any movement on this?
I don't follow them, but I don't think they're known to post a bunch of garbage. Now that's a few stories now about DJax being gone. I don't think it's a production thing. I think it's 100% character. How reputable are these guys to be reporting this?
IF that were to happen the #3 would be the rookie we pick with one or first two picks.DeSean would be out, WOW. Guess if that occurs we would have Maclin move into the DeSean spot. Quickness and speed lost at the position, although Maclin's knee being what it was post injury puts him close to as quick as Jackson. Deep speed it's a loss at WR, no question. Very few guys in the league stretch a defense deep like DeSean Jackson.
Who would be the #3 with Avant also gone? Benn, D. Johnson not going to start there. Vet or rookie wide receiver becomes a huge need. And, might definitely mean many more two TE sets.
I don't think it happens. There's thinking about it and then there's actually doing it. It's unprecedented for a player to have a career year while still under contract and get cut. He's producing, he's still here. Probably means he's gone after 2015 though and I guarantee one of the first 3 picks is a WR with all these rumblings.Man I can't believe this will happen. I don't see how his attitude is THAT bad. And it's not like he's not producing.
Is Revis healthy? If yes then yes. If questionable, then no way.I saw this:

Would YOU deal Jackson straight up for Revis?
Secondary fixed!!We'll sign Revis, Byrd, Talib and Ward. #DreamTeam2.0 #Championship
Anyone else on the shopping list? I'm feeling like Oprah tonight.Secondary fixed!!We'll sign Revis, Byrd, Talib and Ward. #DreamTeam2.0 #Championship
No. You wait for him to be released then sign him to a friendlier cap number. Regardless of their intention with Jackson, you don't burn an asset needlessly for a CB making QB money. And what a joke some of these franchises are, it's stories like this that make me appreciate what we have at the top.I saw this:

the way Revis' contract is structured, you can pay him his salary upfront and it drastically reduces his cap number. His contract was written so Bucs could get rid of him with no penaltyNo. You wait for him to be released then sign him to a friendlier cap number. Curious to see where coveted safety TJ Ward lands. Lions interested and have the $$. Dolphins, Redskins? Not Eagles, though. Not in the mix
Adam Caplan@caplannfl1 min
#Eagles have not spoken to the agent for T.J. Ward, per source. Ward just doesn't fit what they need. Teams see him more as a box safety.
This is countered somewhat by the Eagles being probably the most attractive franchise of those 4.According to former Jets front office exec Ari Nissim, Jets, Browns, Raiders, and Eagles are all interested in Revis. Believe Eagles have the smallest cap room of all four teams.
He's a lock to get 10 IMO. I know I'm the minority here but to me he comes off as a high priced cancer. I don't want him at all.Adam Schefter said the two most likely teams to sign Revis after he's released are the Patriots and Eagles. Wouldnt mind having him at a more reasonable price than $16mil.
I think he will be 29 by the time the season starts. Not sure how I feel about him at even at 12MAdam Schefter said the two most likely teams to sign Revis after he's released are the Patriots and Eagles. Wouldnt mind having him at a more reasonable price than $16mil.
Was going to post the same thing. We wanted top trade for him just last season so the interest is there. Also, I think they have been putting up a smokescreen on Byrd. I really think he's an Eagle today.
I understand the reluctance but he has talent. If he's healthy, then he's worth it.He's a lock to get 10 IMO. I know I'm the minority here but to me he comes off as a high priced cancer. I dont want the mouth part though. I get the talent but as soon as Chip does something he doesnt care for it will be all over the place.I understand the reluctance but he has talent. Wishful thinking or are you hearing something?Revis and Byrd?

Joe Banner?@Jeff_McLane: Got this from an NFL executive not in the Jairus Byrd sweepstakes: "Good player, but not clean health. I would not give him a ton of money."
