****Official 2015 Chicago Bears Offseason Thread **** (4 Viewers)

Kubiac had a minor stroke in Houston because he couldn't handle the pressure. There is no way he could handle the fans, media and pressure of the Chicago market.

LoL the Chicago Texans?
Get back to that salad.
Serving salad with Texas toast ohhh the irony
Basic house salad or did you fancy it up? Hope you included radish. Criminally underrated salad ingredient.
Radish, radish greens, cherry tomato, chopped medley of grilled veg, power greens, black lentils, evo, lemon juice, pinch of oregano, sea salt and cracked pepper. Goodness!

Disturbing. Makes zero sense.
Why not? He's worth a look. Been in a lot of successful defenses. Players love him
1 year as a coordinator of an ok D. Good but nothing special.

And Im sick of guys with no HC experience. We are 0-4 on them since our last championship coach.

Same can be said about the GM job. Chicago is a huge market and charter NFL club they city and the fans deserve better. It would be nice for once to bring in a proven commodity. I wish they would stop experimenting with guys that have never held the job before. Bears have a long convincing track record of hiring losers

Detroit D was great this year. Who's out there with HC experience? Shanny and Marrone? No thanks. Leaves coordinators left.

I would not use great to describe any D this year.

Not even a look at Rex who had success as a head coach.

Hue Jackson did a very good job as HC and has been a coordinator many times.

Even Jack Del Rio had some success as a HC. In Jacksonville of all places.

Why not Marrone? He had an average Buffalo team a game away from the playoffs this year.

I'm always intrigued with 2nd chance head coaches, especially if they flashed a hint of credibility the first time out. Getting fired is humbling. You get to go soak up more knowledge as an assistant and think about the things you can do different the next time you get a shot.

I'm confused on no Hue mentions either, not by any teams that I can recall. Marrone has pissed off everyone he's been around. Too much drama considering what we just went through.

Honestly, thinking about what a team of wimps we became under Emery/Trestman, I think my top choice right now is Marrone. Like him even more if he brings Schwartz along with him.

I'm fine with not everyone thinking he's a saint.

Bowles expected to take the Atlanta spot, Quinn to the Jets. and Del Rio to the Raiders. Are the Bears really doing the due diligence with the hire, or are other coaches scared away from our front office and the Cutler situation?

Would not be surprised at all if we are viewed as a bad spot because of Cutler. He could be the biggest coach killer in the league.

I don't know if it is just Cutler. I think the roster is sort of thin. In addition you have to believe that Pace is actually going to have the autonomy to make the football decisions. Will you be able to hire your own coaches and coordinators? That has not always been the case in the past. And I wonder if they are willing to pay a solid salary? The Bears have been fairly cheap in the past when it comes to coaches salaries, and they are paying for Emery and Trestman already. All and all there are a number of things that detract from this situation being ideal.

Yeah, flap, just saw the report that Fox is out of Denver... Wouldn't mind seeing him here.

John Fox with career record 12696 (8 playoff wins) 2 SB trips unemployed. Joe Philbin 2325 never been to the playoffs..given an extension

Copied tweet

:bs: :wall:
Trestman's salary was $4.25 million. The average coaches salary is $4.85 million. Trestman was listed 21st as far as head coach salaries go. The highest is Sean Payton making $8 million a year. But there are 11 coaches making a lower salary than Trestman was. And some good coaches on the list, Ron Rivera and Mike McCoy are both making $4 million a year.

My point was the number being floated around about Jim Harbaugh was $8 million a year. The Bears were never going to pay that. There are 17 coaches listed making $5 million a year or more, John Fox and Jim Harbaugh are on that list. I think the Bears are going to be reluctant to pay anyone more than $4 million a year, considering that they are going to be paying Trestman $4.25 million for a couple of more years. I think John Fox would want more. I think Doug Marrone would want more. I just don't think the Bears would be willing to pay John Fox what he would want in salary to coach the Bears.

So our first time HC from the CFL made less than average? Weird

How about Lovie Smith being the highest paid at time of his extension, and the 5th highest by the time his time was up here

Nah...its Cutler. Nobody wants to start their coaching tenure stuck with some malcontent loser that's not even very good at the most important position.

Per shefty

John Fox declined HC interview with Jets, per NFL source. Hard to imagine turning down one HC chance unless there's real chance for another.

Interesting. Maybe he's done?
think he said today he's not done

edit:

"I am eager to continue my coaching career and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead," said Fox.

Haven't heard much more about Toub since Pace was hired. Got the feeling Toub and Ballard were a tied together.

If Schwartz is leaving Buffalo, where are his likely landing spots? I was reading that he runs a 4-3, and Rex likes a 3-4. Not sure this was the main factor. Wondering what other open DC spots are running 4-3?

May not matter, by the time the Bears hire a coach.
