The base of the GOP does not like Trump, if that is what you were implying. The base of the GOP is holding the party and the country hostage. It's ####### embarrassing. They disparage anyone who works with the other side, their rhetoric is of anger and fear, doom and gloom, and they get their rocks off on nominating a charlatan cause, you know, 'merica. Rubio is getting crucified for the immigration bill which he and others actually almost got #### done. Imagine that, getting #### done.
Obstructionism may win an election or 2 but it sure as #### can't govern.
Trump certainly has the support of a large piece of the GOP base. The base of the GOP does not like Trump, if that is what you were implying.
Sorry, I mean the right wing populists. 3 years ago they were Tea Partiers. Cruz' supporters too.Trump certainly has the support of a large piece of the GOP base.
We are disagreeing a lot todayTrump certainly has the support of a large piece of the GOP base.
No. That's the establishment. The base is the group of voters who comprise the floor of the party. The ones who wouldn't flip their vote to D (but may stay home if an uninspiring candidate is nominated). We are disagreeing a lot today![]()
i guess it boils down to what you consider the GOP base. I view it as the foundational power structure, and include power brokers like the Koch brothers, Fox News, the pundits, and the party insiders.
I do not mean the money base, I mean the voting base.We are disagreeing a lot today![]()

At least they get to maintain some semblance of dignity by kicking things in private as opposed to very publicly embarrassing themselves and the nation like the remainingI wonder if the other candidates who've dropped out can even stand to watch the news. They must be just kicking things.
Except, that's a part of his platform. It really is. At minimum he should have said that he doesn't support any form of racism or segregation. This is one of those instances where what the person doesn't say speaks volumes. Not good.
Sorry I was talking about the GOP candidates, not Webb and Chaffee. At least they get to maintain some semblance of dignity
Sorry I was talking about the GOP candidates, not Webb and Chaffee.
good pointIt looks like it didn't help. On MTP this morning they announced poll results conducted after the debate showing that Rubio didn't gain any ground at all.Rubio going with the insults just doesn't work for him. Sure a few of the Trump haters love it, but most people see it as disingenuous and desperate. The guy's a phony and will do anything to get elected. I think it will end up hurting him imo.
Because he doesn't have much going for him. The 'not Trump or Cruz' label isn't that inspiring. It looks like it didn't help. On MTP this morning they announced poll results conducted after the debate showing that Rubio didn't gain any ground at all.
It's probably much too late. I think most people have already taken sides. How many people even watched the debate? How many of them even care what happens? Most of the Trump supporters I know aren't really open to voting for anyone else.It looks like it didn't help. On MTP this morning they announced poll results conducted after the debate showing that Rubio didn't gain any ground at all.
And most non-trump voters aren't open to voting for him which makes a disaster in the general. It's probably much too late. I think most people have already taken sides. Any time.Thank you.In case anyone was wondering, ####=d'i'ck
The Trump supporters in this forum seem positive he will win in November. And most non-trump voters aren't open to voting for him which makes a disaster in the general.
That's because they're delusional. The Trump supporters in this forum seem positive he will win in November.
Are you under the impression that the conservative movement consists of the well-to-do, skilled/educated?Rubio's bill would have doomed the conservative movement. If you give citizenship to illegal immigrants, most of whom are poor, unskilled/ uneducated, etc., then you are effectively registering millions of new Democratic voters. What happens to the GOP after Texas, Arizona, etc., all turn blue?
Surely this will be what finally dooms him. Nobody's going to vote for a guy who won't condemn the KK...2 hours ago, SaintsInDome2006 said:
IIRC Farrakhan endorsed Obama in 08, Chavez endorsed him 2012. and I think Castro has endorsed Sanders, but it's not like NOI or communists were/are out there working for their campaigns or they were retweeting their followers' messages.
Here's Trump:
I'm sorry. I couldn't type that with a straight face. Won't cost him a vote. Same could be said about Bush (except for the "4th" part).Because he doesn't have much going for him. The 'not Trump or Cruz' label isn't that inspiring.
How pissed is Kasich at this point? Substantive, experienced, not a #### head, 4th in this race.
So the difference between the conservative movement and Democrats is race then? Sounds about right.bolzano said:Clearly I'm implying that poor/ uneducated Hispanics lean Democratic, not Republican.
He sounds ignorantOof. That is terrible. Really disppointed in the way he handled that.![]()
Not to mention the media continuing to count him out when so few delegates have been distributed.Because he doesn't have much going for him. The 'not Trump or Cruz' label isn't that inspiring.

Jesus. So bad. He'll somehow gain 2 points in the polls...3 hours ago, SaintsInDome2006 said:

We will likely be seeing more of the same if Trump gets he nomination. It seems very fitting for the current state of the party.Fantastic ad...good acting job...
If that's not William Bogert I'll eat raw corn!Fantastic ad...good acting job...
Trump. The whole KKK and other groups getting behind the candidate etc.I don't' get it - is Trump supposed to be Goldwater? Or is this a comment on the party "uniting" behind Rubio and the fear that something odd will happen at the convention to give him the nomination?
OK I thought everyone was getting behind Rubio. Marco keeps saying he's going to unite the party - I'm not saying he's courting the KKK but I haven't heard him come straight out and disavow them like Trump has. His silence on the KKK just seems to say so much to me. I'm sure The General feels the same way.Trump. The whole KKK and other groups getting behind the candidate etc.
I haven't heard any prominent Klan members are declaring their support for Rubio. With him being Hispanic, I am not expecting them to come any time soon.OK I thought everyone was getting behind Rubio. Cruz:Rubio: "We cannot be a party that nominates someone who refuses to condemn white supremacists and the Ku Klux Klan."
That not good enough for ya?

"Vote for me...cause i will hire smart people"
How about we vote for the smart people who have a clue and cut out the blowhard unqualified jackbag.
If he were asked I'm sure he would do better than "I don't know who this group is".OK I thought everyone was getting behind Rubio. Well, what were his big qualifications and accomplishments going in??
Kasich. Lots of experience balancing budgets and stimulating the economy at multiple levels of government.Find us some
I can't believe this guy isn't getting more tractionKasich. Lots of experience balancing budgets and stimulating the economy at multiple levels of government.
It seems like he was never given a chance by media or almost anyone really. All the people I talk to that follow really like him and even my wife who is a hardcore Dem said she mostly likes Kasich. However, he can't get anything going in the polls and just gets lost in the Trump circus.I can't believe this guy isn't getting more traction
Not impossible. I could easily see s scenario in which on March 15 Rubio loses Florida and Kasich wins Ohio. Rubio drops out and Kasich becomes the establishment darling. At that point the momentum could turn. It's unlikely but possible.I can't believe this guy isn't getting more traction
That's Kasich's dream but even if all that happens I think it will be too late for Kasich to catch Trump. Here's a Washington Post piece about how the math shapes up.Not impossible. I could easily see s scenario in which on March 15 Rubio loses Florida and Kasich wins Ohio. Rubio drops out and Kasich becomes the establishment darling. At that point the momentum could turn. It's unlikely but possible.
C. His schtick is running thin at this point.3C's said:Next GOP debate is on Fox and Megyn Kelly is moderating. Trump going to:
A) boycott
B) show up but make an ### of himself (more than usual, as in harassing Kelly)
c) show up and not make a big deal out of Kelly being "mean" or whatever
SEN. TED CRUZ:
You know, he praises Planned Parenthood in the debates over and over again. Maybe he’s been a big financial supporter of that. All of those questions Donald can put to rest. Or you know, maybe it is the case that Donald, there have been multiple media reports about Donald’s business dealings with the mob, with the mafia. Maybe his taxes show those business dealings are a lot more extensive than has been reported. Regardless of what the bombshell is–
CHUCK TODD:
Well, let me stop you. Wait a minute. Senator Cruz, let me stop you there. That’s openly speculative. Do you have any facts to support that Donald Trump has mob ties?
SEN. TED CRUZ:
Oh sure. ABC, CNN, multiple news reports have reported about his some dealings with, for example, S&A Construction, which was owned by “Fat Tony” Salerno, who is a mobster who is in jail. It is owned by two of the major New York crime families. And that has been reported in multiple media outlets. You know, you’re going to have Donald on the show later today, you ought to ask him, “Donald, have you written a check to Planned Parenthood? If so, how much and when?”
