Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

I still think Rubio gets out. If Kasich wins tonight he probably stays in. Kasich winning and staying at the very least hurts Cruz narrative of a two man race.

Who in their right mind would take the VP slot if Trump wins the nomination. Seems like it would be a political death wish.

He's not finding anyone to fill his foreign policy team so this actually may be tougher than people think.

Have to be willing to carry water and loads of sh|t, have zero self respect, betray your beliefs and reputation, be open to being insulted by your own president, and pretty much kill your own political career.

Should be easy.

There goes Rubio, probably the no. 1 candidate that Hillary feared most. Kasich might be in that slot now, if he can survive.

But Rubio appeared decent, passionate, his faith seemed real instead of the stuff they wear on their sleeve in the GOP, nice family and he fought like hell. What could have been.

Sure looks like the GOP will go to the convention without any canidate having the delegates..

Hurray, Kasich gets all of Ohio's delegates.

It will be interesting to see how much of Rubio's vote he gets going forward.

Maybe he can have Carson do this, too. He could be the first ever Secretary of Education/Health/Knocking the Hell out 'Em/Pyramid Silo Engineers.

Pretty positive Cruz will not go along with any contested convention.
What's the theory here? Because he said that?

If Cruz can go to the convention and win the thing why not.

Btw I think Donald walks if it comes to that, he will walk before then. He will either go 3rd Party or sell his leverage [ahem *cough I mean...] "delegates" for the US Virgin Islands or something like that.

You can't win one state and then win the convention.  That's not how it works.  You guys need to read the rules.

If Trump comes up 50 or 100 delegates short and the rest are 400-500 behind him, it would explode the party to rip it from him.  Which of course would be great TV.

But Kasich isn't going to be the nominee based off of winning Ohio.  He's gonna have to follow it up with more wins.

Could get interesting. . The going thought was when Rubio dropped his votes would mainly go to Cruz... But I think Rubio and Kasich align more closely...

You're right he is gonna have to win more than Ohio.  But the rules technically aren't even written yet for the convention.

I think everyone gets that, but if he picks up the majority of Rubio voters he will win more states.

It would explode the party, but it's possible.   You need to read the rules.

It's either Trump vs Hillary or just hand it over to Hillary. We, the people, will not stand for a bunch of elitists telling us that they are nominating someone that the people didn't vote for. It would be akin to saying 'your vote doesn't count'. We will vote Trump as a 3rd part candidate and the Rs will be destroyed permanently.

Kasich just seems like a very fine human being.
Yep.  He's the type of Christian that I can get behind.  Someone who walks the walk and doesn't just label themselves as such.

Liberals would have no problem voting for this guy and, in my opinion, he has the best shot at beating Hillary.
