Jeb is bordering on a deer-in-the-headlights look.

He's certainly looking doe-y these days.

Huh, I didn't know that Jeb is just a nickname, though I guess I'm oddly relieved that the elder Bushes didn't name their son Jebediah. Jeb is a nickname based on his initials - John Ellis Bush. Maybe everyone already knew that, but somehow I missed it.

He is the ATM machine of candidates.

What he does in his bedroom is his own busniess...
I would have thought it would have been Santorum

Wait he did not just invoke Baltimore and then try to contrast it with stand your ground Florida?!?

Anyway carry on guys.

Jeb addresses immigration:

"The next president of the United States will pass meaningful immigration reform so that that will be solved—not by executive order," Bush said, going off-script and addressing immigration activists in the audience who shouted questions at the lectern.

I don't think this response is going to placate them...or the conservative base in his own party, either.

Its like saying JFK Kennedy, LBJ Johnson, or FDR Roosevelt!

Seems like if ever there was a time to ignore "the base" (that keeps shrinking and getting smaller and smaller) it's now.
The problem is...supporters still see the gains they made in the House...Governors...and such and think everything is ok.
Yeah I get that. I guess I was thinking from a candidate perspective. With the way things are today, "the base" on either side is going to vote the letter, not the candidate. However, that number is shrinking. Are you suggesting that the base is pretty much all that comes out for the primaries? If so, I see where you're coming from. Would be nice, for the good of that party, if all the candidates got together and made a commitment to turning this thing around. It's never gonna happen, but it's be fun to watch if it did.

Technically, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, either. You know, what with that whole thing where POTUS can't actually pass laws, but can issue executive orders thing...

It hasn't been mentioned but Hillary's announcement that she would somehow do more than Obama via Executive Order (specious in its own right, because he's already being knocked back by the courts for what he has done, so far) does maybe create an issue about how the people want this and other things done. I think it's a nice point, it would be good if we got back to passing laws and solving problems as a country again, regardless of the outcome. I think this was en effective theme for Obama back in 2008 even if it did not come to fruition I do think people wanted it.

Bush mirrors Hillary in a lot of ways, though not this one. One is that he has a base that is probably not buying for a second that he's going to out-Cruz a Cruz no matter what he says (just like Hillary's base is resistant when she tries to out-Warren Warren), so maybe it's refreshing that he says he is going to do what they suspect and that he will say what they don't want to hear.

Bush's speech had some problems, especially tone, but one was - why does he want to be president? He and Hillary both just seem to have this presumptuous quality, like 'here I am, let's go to the next rung...' Good presidential candidates need a cause or motivating factor for their candidacy, what's his?

A better point from that article:

His refusal to pander to the party's base—or "fake anger to placate people's angst," as he put it in March—represents a direct challenge to traditional campaigning, one that Bush hopes will help him win the general election and attract legions of new voters to the GOP, including voters in the nation's fast-growing Hispanic population. The Spanish-speaking former governor from Miami with a Mexican-American wife could be a bridge to Latinos, who have left the GOP over past nominees' harsh rhetoric on immigration. Arguing that a candidate needs to be willing to "lose the primary to win the general," Bush and his campaign will determine whether future presidential contenders reach beyond the base—or play to it.

Bush has a pile of money for his run; hope he doesn't get the nomination though. He reminds me of status quo, whereas things go along as they have went along. At this point I would prefer Rubio, Paul, Carson. I just think they would make some needed changes & shake things up for the better.

:lmao: I've got him in the #1 spot just so I can hear him say how everything he does is 'tremendously successful'.

The guy is a blowhard moron. Trump: 'we spent billions on an obamacare website'. 'I spent $3 dollars to have websites built'. Boy, the guys you paid to build that website that were paid well. He just doesn't know what is coming out of his mouth.

Then he talks common sense about Bergdall and not trading him for 5 terrorists and free trade.

Donald is running, and based on the rules Fox News set down, he WILL be in the first debate at least.

This is...awesome.

I need to listen to this guy a little bit I guess...need a good pick-me-up....he's not wrong on the billions spent on healthcare.gov though....that's just embarrassing. But is it as embarrassing as following that up with paying $3 to have websites built? Not sure

People say I don't like China. I love China. I got Em in the Trump Tower!

Next year Obamacare is going to kick in. Obama will be out playing golf. He can play on one of my courses if he wants. I own the best golf courses in the world.

If Jeb Bush is going to run for president as something other than a Bush, it will take a transformation worthy of Rachel Dolezal.

And yet the former Florida governor, who once accidentally checked Hispanic on a voter registration form, is doing everything but change his appearance to de-emphasize his inheritance. His presidential campaign logo, introduced over the weekend, is a simple exclamation: Jeb! His brother, the 43rd president, and his father, the 41st president, were not in attendance for his presidential announcement speech in Miami on Monday. He didnt even mention them until nearly the end.[...] His name is the reason he is a leading contender on the presidential stage, the reason he has an enormous campaign war chest, and the reason he became Floridas governor in the first place. Yet he is pointlessly running from it.
