Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Rubio/Kasich have my attention.

Kasich in particular.

Would love to give my Independent vote to somebody not named Hillary.

Very entertaining. Loved it.

I thought Rubio was the big winner. Predicting a Rubio/Kasich ticket coming out of all this.
When Kasich decided to run, I didn't figure he was well known enough to get the nomination and always envisioned him potentially rounding out someone's ticket as a VP. I think overall he has done well for Ohio during his years of service except, perhaps, in the realm of education

Rubio is not getting elected by the heartland...

I think Trump opened the most eyes tonight... his demeanor is going to play well and it seemed like the mods were actively trying to hatchet him and they didn't wound him... he bought himself 3 months last night

and I think Paul raised his profile effectively tonight

everyone else is basically an empty suit or limp words

and I think Paul raised his profile effectively tonight
I'll be shocked if his numbers go up. He looked like he was gonna cry when Christie talked about him blowing hot air in the Senate.
I think he stands out by mixing it up... the issue is the rank and file repubs support the patriot act stuff despite that being a room service republican concept, and I think the take away was bringing up Christie hugging Obama, a damning snap shot

Trump is such a clown. He didn't have a substantive answer to any question. Every answer was things are bad, politicians are bad and he'll make everything more awesome. No specifics. He seemed like my drunk uncle. Complains about everything but never had any answers.

I did enjoy the part about his past companies bankruptcies and when he was talking about America's debt and how he is the right guy to fix it. How? By having America declare bankruptcy?

The split screen of the focus group saying Trump is a narcissist juxtaposed with the taped shot of Trump waving and mouthing "thank you" was priceles

This has been my wife's contention all along:

Trump is still not serious about running and is only doing this to bring up issues and energize the party.

I think he might have thought that in the beginning but now thinks he could actually win. She still thinks he's going to drop out and he doesn't really want to win.

In my opinion, I'm sticking with Rubio and Kasich as the clear winners of this particular debate. I would seriously consider that combination over Hillary any day of the week.

There's a long way to go and anything, of course, can happen.

I'll tell ya what though, that was one of the most entertaining debates that I have ever watched!

Hammer is nailing it in his analysis, as usual. Very crisp debate. Well moderated. Good sharp questions. Says the big story of the debate is the collapse of Trump. Says winners were Cruz, Rubio, Huckabee and Cristie.

They did railroad Trump with those loaded questions. Seemed like every question they asked him focused on something he did or said in the past that would embarrass him when they brought it up. A couple others were asked one tough question about their record but every question Trump got asked was meant to put him on the defensive. I almost felt bad for him.
