Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (7 Viewers)

Lou Dobbs. Let's see what the deep end looks like
Lou used to be a normal guy and then he went to Fox and just lost it. Fox lets their talking heads espouse personal opinions more than the other networks and Lou has been waiting for that opportunity for years.

Thought Rand was best, Karsich right there. Cruz appealed to his loony followers, Trump and Carson were empty suits like the ones they complain about in DC.

Rubio did well as usual but he came off as a bit scary with his hawkish foreign policy perspective. Jeb and Carly are just awful.
Honestly think Kasich did the least when you consider he might have had the most talk time

He's just too moderate for this race.

It is part of the leading candidates' strategy to let him use up some air time.

I think you are over-selling Kasich on his performance but the rest of your analysis is spot on. Trump was terrible and it was by far his worst performance. Carson was awful, but he did nothing different from the previous debates, so he loses no ground and may pick up some of the people bailing on Trump. Cruz was creepy as a mother####er, but appealed to his base. Rubio came off as polished, but scary when it comes to foreign policy. Jeb was a dope and Carly was atrocious. I thought Rand was by far the strongest, but I am a extreme Marxist, leftist, fascist, commie, Nazi, so my opinion probably does not align with the GOP voters.

Carson on the post-debate interview is high as #### and telling people to "jump in a lake"

I like how Ted Cruz who has been central to sequestration and the dissolution of military readiness, wants a really strong military.

Ted Cruz argues a True conservative wins in the general instead of the Republican moderate - so if that's the case how is it that he's only drawing 10%(generous polling)?

Not sure I see massive #s of Independents saying Teds True Conservative brand is where they will vote.

Just can't see myself voting for Cruz under any circumstances.

Not even if rolls out his 'Motley Cruz' ads featuring 'Shout at the Donald'?

I would, if it were to determine who leaves the island. That is one creepy ### mofo.

Agree with most of this. My conclusion, however, is that these are all terrible candidates for president. Save Kasich, each would be their own varying degree of utter disaster. It's scary.

Could some one explain to me Carson's answer about not raising the minimum wage? He mumbled something about it being bad for the black youths looking for work.

He quoted some stats about unemployed teens, especially black teens, but got the numbers wrong according to MSNBC. He mixed up some numbers. To paraphrase them, its not good when you're the black candidate and you get the black teen unemployment numbers wrong.

I kindof got that but how does that matter in regards to black unemployment and minimum wage? Seems random

I believe the theory is if minimum wage is increased, unemployment increases. Of course that theory has been found to be not so true. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/nov/10/ben-carson/ben-carson-said-raising-minimum-wage-will-increase/

The Obama economy is a disaster?
I don't believe in "______'s economy" but for the average American, it's not good. Wages have stagnated big time over the last 10 years and the prices of things just keep going up. When was the last time there was a significant hike in the interest rates? Would I call it a "disaster"? Probably not, but it's not all rainbows and unicorns either....well, except for Wall Street.

As someone who tries to keep a small Business afloat - Heard some great things in this debate....

All this #### needs to be simplified - Tax code, Healthcare, regulations!!!!! !(#*@#!@_&^!~!~~~~~!!!!!!

As it stands, as a small business owner we are now in the HealthCare business...

Only Business' that can afford to run and hire experts that understand Tax, Regulations and Healthcare are the largest of corporations With $$$

No longer the case where you work hard, deliver the best Service and Product and you make money - That's only a small percentage now..

But, seems like some ppl would rather not have small biz and have everything Govt run directly or thru large corps Who in essence become Govt run.

Seriously now - Why would anyone want Tax, regulations and Healthcare so freaking Complex and massive that the only ppl who can figure it out need to have teams of accountants and lawyers... WHY WHY WHY??? I don't know how anyone of any political party could be for this UNLESS< they had no freaking clue, worked for the Govt or in some Bubble where they just don't have to deal with any of this....Maybe they ARE Lawyers????

BLOWS MY MIND that ppl would fight for and defend their party that promotes Super Complex Bull #### just for the sake of tricking the little ppl,

All under the pretense of "Helping the little Guy".... what a crock - But, it Buys votes - congrats - You win at politics Hillary and LBJ.

And you fix this by hiking interest rates?

One highlight was Rand blowing through the go-to-commercial music to rip Trump on the TPP. Fox finally just stopped the music to let him finish. Very well done I thought.

Of course not  That tax rates haven't been allowed to go up is the flag here....thought that was obvious.

So what would you do? The surging dollar is primarily responsible for top line stagnation (among other things like oil prices). The situation is a global one, and one that a single executive in one country can easily alter with policy.

One could argue easily that this country needs inflation, or could afford it now more than ever.

There's nothing that I can do, so I don't really understand where you're going. I simply pointed out the economy wasn't all that great. I think our taxes need to be looked at. I think our health insurance needs to be looked at and I think government's relationship with big business needs to be looked at. Those are three areas that could use a good amount of tweaking, but I also know it won't happen.

Totally agree. The fact that any business in any line of work essentially has to become an expert in heathcare instead of whatever they do best is insane. We need to get healthcare out of the employers hands in any way possible. What a drag on the economy that we have to worry about this crap. Why in the world is it a business's responsibility to provide healthcare? It doesn't make sense.

Any system that gets healthcare insurance out of the private business sector altogether is ideal. No idea how we got in this mess to begin with? Why doesn't my employer give me group auto insurance?

So everyone posting here seems to agree that Obamacare is causing lots of headaches for small businesses. But conservatives would repeal it and replace it with some sort of market based system closer to what we had before, while progressives would replace it with single payer universal health care. How do we solve this divide?
