Poor GOP?
Trump is the result of their own failures to live up to the promises made to the GOP. When you betray the people who work in the trenches for your party and actually view the party as a means to achieve certain political goals and you stab them in the back repeatedly, this is the result.
Maybe you meant poor GOP in a sarcastic sense like...look at that poor sob who broke into that house and got their head blown off by the homeowner.
Im still somewhat baffled by this argument, which I'm hearing all over the place, because what the conservative base wanted was not politically possible. You guys wanted the government shut down permanently in order to defund Obamacare. You wanted to refuse to raise the debt ceiling, which would have sent us into economic chaos. And because the GOP leadership acted in the only sane way they could and didn't give in to these laughable demands, you put up Donald Trump and it's THEIR fault?
First...I have said this repeatedly. It is so amusing to hear you and other lefties who have no intention of ever voting in a GOP primary pontificate and play political analysts in these threads. One of the reasons why I say that you guys just don't get it and I am laughed at.
You don't get it. You are not a Republican...I don't care what you say about being one in a past life. You are an open borders extremist who has never been aligned with the base of this party like I have been. So...your opinions, your framing of the issues, etc. is off and not really worth all that much.
You are baffled because you refuse to actually listen and understand what other people are telling you. You are not really here for discussion and debate. You are just here to spew your opinions...then change your opinion so that you look thoughtful...and then go back to having the same opinion that you started with...assuming you ever "change" your opinion at all.
Second, and to illustrate the above, I told you and everyone in this thread REPEATEDLY...COUNTLESS TIMES...that the base is pissed off and angry with the leadership of its party. I have expressed in great detail as to why.
But, what the #### do I know. I just happen to have spent my entire adult life running in these circles and working in politics and have a strong connection to the grassroots of this party. Of course, you clowns on the left have a great grasp of what is going on on my side of the aisle. I mean...when you aren't admitting that you were wrong...er...I mean...underestimating how dumb and racist the GOP voters were.
Your opinion and the opinion of most other lefties in these threads about the state of the GOP primary race is worth less than nothing. You guys have no ####### clue what you are talking about.
In August I wrote in response to one of your comments:
The real answer is that Republicans are tired of the GOP establishment. They are tired of electing politicians who say they are for X, but vote the opposite. They are tired of being lied to. They are tired of feeling like they are a powerless voice.
I can go down the line and tell you that they are tired of open borders, etc.
But at the end of the day, it is sort of how the Democrats take black voters for granted. The GOP basically spits in the faces of Republican voters and assumes that they will follow in lockstep like black voters loyally vote Democrat each year.
It ain't going to happen.
Ultimately, what this all comes down to is the following:
A lot of people are looking for a way to say "Go #### Yourself" to the establishment and to the machinations of D.C.
If you are a Republican you are constantly told, we just need to win the house, then its we just need to win the senate, too. And then it is...if we can get the presidency and both chambers, were golden.
But, it never changes. In fact, the people who do the heavy lifting in the grassroots to actually give the power back to the leaders of the GOP must then stand around like cuckholds and let the party leaders piss on them and tell them that they are right wing nuts, unreasonable, etc.
If ever there was a time to tell a bunch of political whores to go eff themselves...this is it.
I don't know many Republicans who are really worried that a vote for Trump might cost them the opportunity to elect some other windbag GOPer who is going to grow government, allow the borders to remain open, etc.
But knowing you, you probably didn't read it.A day later in response to a conversation between you and TommyGunZ where Tommy made a similar reference (see above) about "chickens coming how to roost" where you guys basically mocked the GOP base for actually believing in GOP principles and lampooned the GOP leaders for talking that crazy talk and getting the base all riled up,
I wrote:
Maybe that it what you want to believe...but that is not the case, especially in the context of why GOP voters are feeling the way they are about Trump and other candidates.
You guys laugh and criticize his recent comments about firing a gun and not losing votes. I was on this months ago
when I wrote in the latter part of August:
It doesn't matter what Trump stood for last year. It doesn't matter if he was supporting Democrats in years past, etc.
There is a reason why Trump is doing well with Republicans in polling and leading the way right now. Do you think it is really because they believe Trump is a true blue conservative? Do you think it is because he has been carrying the banner on conservative causes his entire life?
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HE DID BEFORE. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HE SAID BEFORE.
It matters what he is saying now and he is saying things that nobody else is saying in a way that many Americans have longed to hear.
And it isn't even that that is the big reason he is doing well.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Whether you believe Trump or even Trump believes Trump...the issue is that he represents with his words a position and attitude that many pissed off Republicans have been feeling for a while.
He could be exposed for having an illegal alien nanny tomorrow and it won't matter.
All that matters is that he is communicating and positioning himself on issues that many of us have been angry about and frustrated about for years and years.
This is the classic case of all the guys who think they are the smartest in the room trying to lecture the peasants about what is going on as if the peasants are too stupid to understand what is happening.
and I wrote in September as a follow up:
Because this election is not about conservative vs liberals or Republicans vs Democrats. It is about the people and their government.
And their government sucks.
I feel like I can keep repeating myself over and over and some of you are still going to continue to wonder how it is that Trump is doing so well.
I have said it time and time again and I guess I will continue to attempt to do so in different ways.
Most republicans are not supporting Donald Trump because they think he is a true blue conservative. They are not supporting a man. They are supporting an idea. They are supporting a wish or a desire. And Trump is the only vehicle they feel that they have a chance of effectively communicating that idea or desire.
Earlier in this thread or the other, many many pages ago, I said it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what Trump says (for the most part). It doesn't matter what he did in the past (for the most part).
What matters is that many people have been wanting to figuratively burn Washington and the establishment to the ground for a long time. Short of the average person literally saying "#### you", grabbing a gun and shooting their piece of #### Congressman in the head at a town hall meeting, what is it exactly that you think the average American who feels this degree of anger should do?
Who is the one that doesn't understand what the #### is going on this election cycle. Me? Or the ones who are repeatedly saying they are "baffled" or "underappreciated" or "underestimated"...
Me...the guy who has been right throughout these threads for months...
Or the lefties and their big brains who think they are the smartest guys in the room...
