Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (4 Viewers)

I can't give Cruz crap about that pic with his daughter.

Anyway after tonight I'm thinking Gilmore can zoom all the way up to 8th

Huck and Santorum are sure to drop out after tonight. Carly might - I don't have the impression that she bet more on NH than Iowa (though I could be wrong). If Carson flops - well below 10% - I cam see him dropping too.

Gilmore should rum forever! :excited:

Fiorina is more invested in NH than Iowa, I think she'll wait a week to drop out. Agree that tonight is the end for Santorum and Huckabee.

After NH I think Fiorina and Christie pack it in. Probably Carson and Rand Paul and Gilmore too.

That would leave just Trump/Cruz/Rubio/Bush/Kasich to continue to South Carolina and the other states.

I can. Not about his daughter "hating him" or pulling away/being bratty, but about using his kids as props in the first place. "Hey look, there's a camera rolling, give me a kiss."

Even worse, you can see the look on his face where he realizes there are cameras rolling and it looked bad, so he grabs her tighter and moved in again. I can just imagine him whispering" you're making me look like a fool, let me kiss you, damnit! "I'd rather have president Trump than Cruz, and that's saying a lot.

Bob Dole weighs in on "his guy"

Bob Dole: Ted Cruz Is a RINO — He’s a Republican in Name Only’Sunday on a special edition of Fox News Channel’s “Your World,” former Sen. Bob Dole (R-KS), the 1996 Republican presidential nominee, criticized , a candidate for the 2016 Republican nomination, on the eve of the Iowa Caucuses.

Dole ripped Cruz for being “an extreme conservative” and argued Cruz would shut down the government given the opportunity.

“My candidate is Jeb Bush and I wish I could see him more on Fox today. But I think we have a number of good candidates who are Republicans and we have Cruz, who I don’t think is a Republican,” Dole said. “He is an extreme conservative. There is no one like him in the Senate. No one likes him in the Senate. All he’s done is shut down the government twice. Cost millions of dollars and put federal workers out of work for a few days. I don’t really believe the people in Iowa are extreme conservatives. They’re Grassley conservatives. They’re Sen. Ernst conservatives. They’re Gov. Branstad conservatives.”

“I doubt that he’s a Republican,” Dole added. “He can’t run as an extreme conservative. He’s a RINO — he’s a Republican in name only.”

Trump coming in second in Iowa means very little. It means more that Cruz still has life - if Cruz lost Iowa, he's done. Trump coming in second is meh.

Ask Huckabee and Santorum what the Iowa steam did for their campaign.

Looks like he might come in 3rd.

I agree about Huck and Santorum, but Trump's entire campaign is based on his poll numbers and being a winner. If he cannot talk about that, then he's screwed.

Kasich can win NH and then we have a game, especially if Trump gets annoyed at the party and goes independent.

Trump is far from screwed, there are few worse states for Trump than Iowa...evangelical farmers...just not his crowd and he still placed second.

If he doesn't win New Hampshire or South Carolina I think he'll have problems.

That's actually really, really funny. Dole inverting the RINO label.

Only in the last few days did Trump surge closer to Cruz. Ted was ahead in Iowa for weeks. New Hampshire, should Trump stumble there, then its trouble for him.

Trump should be ecstatic to leave 2nd in Iowa. Not sure if you guys just started following politics or trolling...
Guy lead polls for weeks and he took on water finishing second and having third nip at his heels... gonna struggle with bluster fighting a two front war
It's Iowa dude.
Agreed but this opens up major fundraising for Rubio. He didn't need Rubio in this fight. A clear alternative for a "sane" GOP choice has galvanized early. If Rubio was a weak 3rd, 17 percent or so, I would say no harm no foul. This heard will be down to 5 by the time we get to Carolina.

. . . he can always win New Hampshire?

Now we're talking. Yes, I agree that Rubio gaining ground will basically split Trump's votes and lean to Cruz. I think Cruz though doesn't resonate with coastal states - at all.

Rubio is the wildcard now; he's great on his feet and can continue to speak and garner support while Cruz and Trump will rely on their same talking points.

Rubio to make a real push here.

Right to Rise has been pounding Rubio & Kasich on the radio the past week. Both were polling 2 & 3 in NH. Its like Jeb's pac is working for Trump now

Transformer is a top 10 album for me

I think the real story for the GOP is how vulnerable the Clinton machine is. Obama was a patsy and so is Sanders now; it's a silent finger in the ### of all of the money/bullying the Clinton's have done over the years.
