Nate Silver deals with probability projections, so he didn't say and would never say that Trump had "zero chance" to win the nomination. He thought it was rather unlikely and he still may turn out to be right (although I doubt it). Anyway, let's see how this plays out.

News alert - for the first time ever a Latino has won a US presidential primary.

And he's a Republican.

Has anyone heard this mentioned on tv once?

Okaaayyyy... Cruz's dad was Cuban, Obama's dad was Kenyan. Cruz is Hispanic, Obama is AA.

 
Lawrence O'Donnell just played the Arnie Vinick ethanol scene from the The West Wing and praised Ted Cruz for coming out against ethanol. And I agree with him. Despite my distaste for nearly everything about Cruz, he showed great courage for defying the conventional wisdom from both sides of the aisle- he was against more ethanol spending and he won. As O'Donnell suggests, perhaps this will allow future Presidential candidates to buck the powers that be. Ethanol is wasteful, should no longer be funded, and politicians have known this for years.

So thank you Ted Cruz, and you deserve credit for this. :thumbup:

During a bus tour stop in Sioux Center, Iowa last night, Senator Ted Cruz expressed support for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) through 2022.
Responding to a question from an ethanol investor from Iowa about whether he would allow the landmark energy program to continue through its current expiration in 2022, Sen. Cruz responded by expressing support for the RFS through 2022.

Well that's disappointing. I could have sworn I heard him call for an end to it, and O'Donnell said the same thing. Maybe we're missing something?

LOD is referring to Cruz's longstanding arguments against ethanol subsidies....... before he got to Iowa. It's a reflection on LOD's reportorial skills or lack thereof that he doesn't bother to research this aspect or tell his viewers about this.

Of course LOD complaining about subsidies at all is maybe more hypocritical than Cruz's hillaryesque pandering, which in truth probably helped bump him up at the end.

It also shows a weakness of Trump's, because in the end his lack of positions do matter. People do want to hear positions, even if they're being lied to, they want to know where politicians stand on things that matter to them.

Trump was fun and interesting but he is done. Cruz is what the conservatives want but Rubio will win the nomination because he is the only one of the three that will beat Clinton.

Rubio will be the Republican candidate.

Aside from some hits by cruz on immigration and Jeb whining about the kid jumping in front of him, there hasn't been much.

Rubio will get schlonged from all comers now...especially the other establishment track candidates who realize that NH is their last shot to remain viable.

If "a politician lied to voters" were grounds to redo an election, we'd still be voting on 1776 today.

ETA: I do enjoy how Trump ends every tweet with something like "Bad!" or "Sad!", just in case his followers aren't sure how they ought to feel.

Yeah...I think he needs to place third in NH though...and even if he does there is a risk that if Rubio finishes 2nd that Big Mo' will be on his side given the media's love for him.
