Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (2 Viewers)

There has never been a politician who has regretted his decision quicker than one Chris Christie did when he endorsed Donald J Trump this week. Not only did he look uncomfortable at the original press conference on Friday, he went from balls out defense originally to state appointed defense a few days later on the Sunday morning circuit . It was later reported that minutes after his big endorsement Trump was overheard saying "go back to Jersey" to Big Chris and now today he was seen over the shoulder of Trump looking like he had some bad fish. Poor guy is standing there just hoping for the Navy SEALs to come swarming in to rescue him to rescue him. I can't imagine what he would admit to his rescuers when they bring him back to Ramstein. My captors were horrible people with terrible spray tans and fake hair. I was tortured mercilessly, deprived of basic human necessities like sleep and water, my human rights were violated. please for the love of God and the Dallas Cowboys somebody give me double bacon cheeseburger and large fries

Higgs, pundits are going to go back and forth. But the numbers don't lie. She'll have women, Latinos, blacks, Asians. It's basically the Obama coalition with less blacks a whole lot MORE Latinos. She'll win Colorado, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida. Trump simply has no viable path to victory.

The GOP tried to tell you this in 2013. They said they needed 41% of Hispanics to win the next election. They said that it was the only way to break the Obama coalition. They said that you had to get the immigration issue out of the way before you Republicans could attract Latinos again. You didn't listen. You elected a guy that nearly every Latino hates. He'll be lucky to get 10% of them.

Look, I know I've written this all before and I apologize for repeating myself. But no matter how passionate Trump's supporters are, the formula DOES NOT CHANGE. Short of an economic disaster or horrible act of terrorism, there's no path for Trump to win. And the oddsmakers know it.

Every time I think it can't get worse than what's gone on with the back and forth with Rubio and Trump I listen to Ted Cruz give a speech.

That was also based on the assumption that the GOP had already maxed out its share of the white vote. Romney got ~60% in 2012 I think? Back then I wouldn't have bet on a candidate exceeding that. Now, I think Trump could.

At this point the best outcome for Trump would be Rubio winning the Minnesota caucus.  It would give Rubio a way to blunt the Cruz call for him to get out.

The gender gap in 2012 was the largest in history. In Trump's victory speech tonight he was appealing to women. He's not afraid to support planned parenthood. In key states like Florida, he only needs to keep the status quo from 2012 and gain about 1% more of the electorate. A toned-down more humble Trump will be very persuasive in the general election.

Cruz:  "On my first day of office I will investigate Planned Parenthood"

I'd love to see Cruz go up against Cecile Richards and get his ### handed back to him.

It's over folks. No need to keep posting any further. Tim is very sure about this.

Latinos Latinos Latinos.  How about turnout Tim?  5 times as many Republicans are coming out to vote.  And don't underestimate Donald.  He's smarter than you think, and he's a proven winner.  He will outwork Hillary.

And here comes the neck snapping gear shift.

I have actually been impressed with the analysis of Van Jones. I feel like he gets what is going on and a sense that he wants to be more aggressive in sounding the alarm bells, but doesn't want to alienate or piss off those on the left who just want to hear how HRC will win in a cakewalk.

That was one of the more intense segments I've seen in awhile.
The white guy really blew it when the black guy was going on and on about Trump and the supposed racism regarding the Central Park rape.  The ad Trump put out wasn't racist.  It was anti-crime.  And he should have mentioned that Hillary just jumped to the wrong conclusion before the facts came out on the alleged Albany racial incident on the bus, playing the race card.  All in all a poor showing by both debaters.  Lots of punches thrown but not much landing.

60% is a pretty high number. 65% is almost impossible.

But let's assume it happens. What a catastrophic thing it would be for America if the President was voted in basically by white people and almost all minorities voted against him.

I know. It makes me cry.

I'm not saying it's over but aren't Rubio and/or Cruz supposed to be winning these Southern states to have any chance at all?  Trump won VA, TN, ALA, ARK, and GA and two of them with relative ease.  Trump's gonna do well with the northern hicks and the Ted Kaczynski types out west IMO.

Am I wrong?

It really was an impressive speech.  I didn't really take Trump seriously out of the gate, but Trump/Hillary is going to be closer than I ever imagined.

This makes me think less of you Tim, just so you know. May be one of the most sick minded things you have said.
