Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Bernie's big win over Hillary in Michigan puts Michigan in play for Trump. I think Michigan has voted Democrat in the last 6 elections. Not a given for Hillary in the general election with her weak showing tonight. This has to worry Tim and the rest of the Dems. No wonder he is spending more time here then in the Hillary thread.

First of all he hasn't won yet. Second, if he does, it won't be a big win.

But most of all I don't understand your logic here. Despite what you may read in this forum, the vast majority of Bernie supporters will vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination and vice versa.

Can't wait to hear how Rubio spins getting less than 10% in both Michigan and Mississippi.  :lmao:

CNN had donald on forever. Not even showing Clinton.
He probably could have talked for two hours and they would have kept him on.  I really think he'll give Hillary problems in the general election despite what some people think.

My response was to the text in bold, not your claim that Cruz is not a libertarian. If taken literally, you stated that Christians are disqualified from being POTUS, since a Christian always puts God first, even before country. But, I think you were really voicing concern that Cruz would legislate morality, so I was noting that you can be both Christian and a constitutionalist/ lean libertarian on constitutional issues. IMO, we just disagree on the extent to which Cruz would impose his faith on others, i.e., I don't/ you do.

Btw, I apologize for my harsh tone. I got fired up, since I initially thought you were against Cruz due to his faith.
No need for apologies. Im against anyone running for President who thinks that their religion is more important than this country. He isnt running for pastor in chief, he is running for President. And Cruz is a nutbird, too.

I have to assume you are ok with a US President who says "I am a Muslim first, an American second." I am not. We are different.

It's not that Rubio just came in a distant last place  - it's that it happened after the GOP rallied around him. What a total collapse. A true Jeb protege - he got all the endorsements, robo calls, super pacs, everything and he just comes up empty handed. 2 or 3 more contests and then Florida.

What do they do up there?  Seriously never met anyone from there
BSU football is huge. Hunting, camping, snow skiing, boating, hiking, biking and everything outside is huge here. Not many people move away from here. Cost of living and crime are very low. People love their own space here. Very common to have at least 0.25 acre home. Many places where everyone has 1-5 acres. Very few places where homes are stacked on top of each other.

Thanks for clearing that up GB. Always had you pegged for a tea party member.

All I know about Idaho is some of the men can throw footballs over the mountains and their elections are often heavily influenced by talent competitions.

I'm sure Rubio will say the map only gets better for him here on out.
The map is immaterial for him.  He's doing exactly what the establishment Republicans want him to do.  He'll stay in until they deem it best for him to drop out.  And he'll be awarded with job security within the party for life.

Donald dominating and Bern right on Hilary's heels is killing Tim inside.
Dominating?  Per CNN, Trump is estimated to win 58 of 131 delegates from Michigan, Mississippi and Idaho.  I know math is hard, but 50%+ of the delegates would be 66+.  Trump still needs to win Ohio and Florida to have any chance to lock this up before the convention.

Despite being the front runner for quite some time, he's not coalescing support at this point like a normal front runner would.

I'm over the Trump schtick.  It used to be funny and entertaining.  Now it's just annoying.  These last few months have only crystalized my notion that the average American is a stupid idiot.

Rubio getting 0 delegates last night is just a Democrat dream. Trump and Cruz have so many more electability issues than him. It's a beautiful thing.

Yeah, I don't like that.  He needs to get more focused in these things.  Not sure if he can do it - so many years of it all being about him...
He is the definition of Narcissism so there is no way he ever becomes "Presidential" as many seem to think he will become IF he wins the nomination..

It is part of who he is, and I don't see winning the nomination changing that.

You already see him trying to follow his strategist's advice to be more presidential.  That lasts all of five minutes before the real guy comes out again.  I wouldn't be surprised if he gets into a fist fight with a reporter before this is all said and done.

I think it has more to do with a lot of people no longer trusting the establishment. Either do something different or keep electing the same lying, crooked, career politicians.

I know a lot of people, myself included, who are sick of the establishment.  That doesn't mean we vote for someone who has zero substance behind what they say, let alone acts like he's running for class president.

He does Jeb! better than Jeb!
