Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

If the Trump lead in Missouri holds, this is a bad night for Ted Cruz.  Not only could he not win a state, but Kasich staying alive isn't the best of news for him either.

If Trump comes up 50 or 100 delegates short and the rest are 400-500 behind him, it would explode the party to rip it from him.  Which of course would be great TV.

But Kasich isn't going to be the nominee based off of winning Ohio.  He's gonna have to follow it up with more wins.

Sure. But let give you the what if scenario? 

What if: Kasich takes this win, people are turned off by Trump's rallies, and Kasich wins California, Pennsylvania, New York? Suddenly we go into Cleveland. Kasich is still far behind, but has incredible momentum. First ballot, nobody has enough votes to win. Second ballot, Kasich. 

It's not impossible. 

 
Second ballot could be literally anyone.  The delegates are no longer pledged at that point, as I understand it.

It's not impossible that Hillary coughs herself out of the race. I am convinced she is hiding a major health problem.

Liberals would have no problem voting for this guy and, in my opinion, he has the best shot at beating Hillary.

From a policy standpoint, I have significant disagreements with Kasich.  Probably enough that I couldn't vote for him.  That said, against Hillary, it would give me pause, and I'd have to reconcile a lot of cognitive dissonance voting one way or another.  So, it's not like Kasich is completely out of the question for me.

 
Ohio held. Thank sweet baby Jesus and the orphans that we held.  If we went Trump too, I might've had to burn all my Buckeye trees all the #### down.  Pride: intact.  For now....

Maybe not full on liberals.

But will get plenty of the votes from people  happy to not have to choose Trump or Hillary

Can't believe the losers in Ohio failed so miserably. You had a great shot at legal marijuana and the massive economic benefit of it and you blew that too.

They wouldn't.  Just like I might like Bernie from a standpoint of believing he's honest and fights for what he believes.  However, I could never vote for someone that far left because I don't believe in the policy.  So I'd vote for someone more dishonest if their policies more aligned with what I believed.

I'm only speaking for myself here, having voted for W in 2000, then Kerry and Obama twice, but I much prefer Kasich's message and personality to Hillary's.  I feel absolutely nothing when I hear Clinton speak except for perhaps mild irritation from that voice.  To be honest, I don't really know what her campaign is other than "if you like Obama, I won't rock the boat".

Both conservatives and liberals seen to be stuck in this " the government needs to fix this " chant. Kasich's message that we can do this piece by piece, person by person, town by town really resonates with me.  It's up to us to fix stuff... Not the government.  We just need the leadership to rally us.  I don't feel like HRC is that person.

I finally found out today how his combover works. The hair on top of his head is actually from the back that he combs forward that intersects with hair from the side. The miracle of it is how he makes it appear that the hair up top is combed front to back. A true optical illusion. There are four basic moves but the everything is done to make that hair up top appear as if it's combed back when it's actually combed toward the front. Very impressive.

I didn't realize he was running against Obama, because those other two probably would've had a pretty good shot to beat this version of Hillary.

Rubio team filed the challenge in PA. Rubio has dropped out. Good chance they'll drop the challenge. Even if for whatever bizarre reason they do not, the deadline was 5pm, they did not file until after 6pm. The PA judge involved said:

Judge Bonnie Leadbetter, however, noting the 1970s-era Election Code was written long before the implementation of electronic filing, said "it's probably a good bet the Legislature assumed it (the office) would be closed at 5 o'clock."
