Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

You've made this argument all along and its never been true.
Prove it...you want to go "true" vs "false" go for it.  There isn't a single position that I can think of where Trump is right of Cruz and Cruz has the political savvy to get closer to getting things done.  Cruz is by far the more dangerous, mainly because we know and have a track record of his positions.  All we have with Trump is his words.  Now, I know for whatever reason you put a ton of stock in the political :hophead:  that comes out of politician's mouths, but I see no reason to do that with Trump.  I have no reason to believe a word he says.

The Cruz campaign will make a "major" announcement at 4pm eastern today. The Twitters seem to think he might announce Carly Fiorina as his VP pick, which would be great for those who like seeing two people whose attempts at smiling make it seem like the very act will rip their faces in half.

The good news is that we're inching closer to not having to hear or see any more from Lyin' Ted.

It is dumbfounding that this man even got the delegates that he did.

Have a nice offseason, Ted.

In case you guys missed Trumps speech, he kind touched on everything with the generic spew. The thing he said that made me recoil was that we needed to modernize our nuclear arsenal.

Let that sink in.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Wednesday was expected to announce that former business executive Carly Fiorina will be his vice presidential running mate if he wins his party's nomination.

:lmao:

In other words, 'since I've now had my ### handed to me by the Great Trumpster, I'll make sure I sink like a stone by pairing myself with a horsefaced loser.'

Trump: ISIS will be destroyed very very quickly. He won't say how because we need to be unpredictable.

This was his "serious" foreign policy speech.

Donald Trump today repudiated 70 years of Republican (and American) foreign policy.
I appreciate his commitment to pointing out to anyone paying attention that he has zero intellectual curiosity.

Faced with the limitations of a teleprompter- a device that would keep a run of the mill idiot from looking stupid- Trump persevered and found a way to look stupid anyway, by mispronouncing Tanzania.  Did he not even bother to read the speech beforehand?  Was he too lazy to bother looking up or asking how to pronounce a word he was unsure about?  Did he actually think you pronounce it like Albania for some reason?  Gotta be one of those three, right? I'm not sure which is more ridiculous.

It's truly surreal -- I have a hard time believing that this entire run didn't start off as schtick to promote his brand, and that the people around Trump aren't every bit as surprised as the rest of us that he's actually going to be the nominee.  Trump, however, is dim enough, and enough of an arrogant d-bag, to probably actually believe his own rhetoric.

Well, we do know that war and aggression will not be his first instinct.  So this plan to destroy ISIS very very quickly must be a doozy. Maybe he's gonna buy them with a bunch of high-interest debt and then run them into the ground?

Should he reveal how? Seriously should he lay his plans out as to how to solve this problem??

Maybe tweet them out
You really believe the guy with NO FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE has some super-effective plan up his sleeve?

It honestly amazes me that people can't see right through this guy.

He knows nothing about the job he is applying for.

Hmm. The article on CNN doesn't mention this. Unless you were mixing his words to get a narrative you want.
But they’re going to be gone. ISIS will be gone if I’m elected president. And they’ll be gone quickly. They will be gone very, very quickly.

The whole thing is frequently contradictory, both with itself and with his previous statements (I like that he leads with "tear down this wall" seemingly without a hint of irony or self-awareness).

But it's just run of the mill stupid until you realize that unlike most of his speeches it was prepared in advance and read off a teleprompter.  Then it becomes impossibly, mind-bogglingly stupid.

You should vote for me instead of Trump. I actually have a secret plan to destroy not just ISIS but also the Cardinals, the Patriots and the Lakers. I will also make your and your family incredibly wealthy.  I'll tell you how it all works after I win.

Maybe we should just stick to career politicians

In other words, people qualified for the job?

Yeah, that's probably a good idea.

Remember when the biggest problem GOPers had with Obama in 2008 was lack of experience? And he was a US Senator?

Good times.

If you can come up with a secret plan to help the Lions win a Super Bowl, you have my vote. Hell, I'll even vote you in for life.

It won't help Cruz, but if Trump responds with some sexist comment about Fiorina it  could help Hillary.

Carly's one shining moment in her failed political career came when she treated Trump's comments on stage with the contempt they deserved.
