All the talk about McCaffrey's meteoric rise up the draft board has me wondering - if Fournette falls to 14, would they pull the trigger on him? Should they?
I suppose it all depends on who else is available at the time. Greg Cosell is really big on him, and a few others think he's the real deal. Putting weapons around Wentz has been the strategy, but we all know the defense needs work (secondary) as well. If they think he is the BPA and can still get good defensive contributors after that, I wouldn't be mad about it.All the talk about McCaffrey's meteoric rise up the draft board has me wondering - if Fournette falls to 14, would they pull the trigger on him? I think it would be appropriate for a cigarette as well. Assuming he's British.I'm literally laughing my ### off right now.
He's getting up there in age, had an off year, and the fear of him becoming Nnamdi/Maxwell 2.0 is enough to make me not want to give much of anything up for him. Also only 2 seasons left on his deal before he's looking for his last huge contract somewhere. Don't want to be paying a 31 year old a huge deal in 2 years right when we'll (hopefully) be in the hunt when he likely won't even be our top CB then (I'm assuming we take one first few rounds that develops into a cheap stud in 2 years)I think I would do a 2nd rounder no doubt for Sherman. 1st round swap is a no brainer to me. I don't think I can give up #14 for him though.
Either way I don't know if we could fit him under the cap but hypothetically if we could, yea let's do it.
I've never been a Frank fan to tell you the truth. He makes his opinions sound like the Gospel truth. Have a friend in the media who says he's kind of condescending to his peers if he doesn't agree with them. I do like his Rueb Facts which are interesting but it's really something about him I just don't like. However I do like him on PFT during football Season on Thursday when he basically calls out Spadaro for his butt kissing of the team. Speaking of Spuds my dad did work in Lower Merion for a customer and this customer's son was best friends in school with Dave's Son. Said Dave is Dbag non the less and has issues with parents who are negative towards the team to the point he makes sure his kids aren't friends and don't hang out with their kids. Kind of petty. I've met him a few times in my area as he frequents the bar with his wife. He was pretty nice and all and even bought me a drink. One night I got free Tickets to an Eagles game against The Cowboys. Said the guy he was gonna give them too friend wasn't gonna be able to go and didn't want the tickets to go to waste. Asked if I wanted them because he didn't want the to go to waste. Ended up getting lower level 50 yard line behind the Eagles bench 10 rows back. I mean the dude is as big of a homer to the Eagles as a buddy of mine to every team he likes. He once tried to argue that the 08 PSU team could beat my UF Nat Champion winning team. Argued how Iguadola was the best dunker in Basketball among a few other arguments just as crazy as Spadaro. However I just think my buddy suffers from Sports Talk Radio syndrome because I have a feeling if he hears enough people on an idea he likes he uses it right or not. Dude could give Spuds a run for his money in homerism.FWIW Rueben Frank was on WIP this morning and said he gets the sense they really like Mixon and that's who they're picking on round 2 if e falls to their pick.
You take Fournette. Dude is a monster. I honestly think at this point he's the most underrated Top back as everyone is talking McCaffery who I see as nothing more then a better in-between the tackles runner then Woodhead type, Mixon and Cook. Fournett has become the forgotten man. I guess it also depends who else is on the board. A dream would be to have him Foster and Barnett available at our pick. I've been watching Fournett for a good while. Dude is legit and a pounder. All the talk about McCaffrey's meteoric rise up the draft board has me wondering - if Fournette falls to 14, would they pull the trigger on him? Should they?
I say build through the draft. Too many young good CBs there to waste cap and a pick player on a guy who has two yrs left on his deal. He's getting up there in age, had an off year, and the fear of him becoming Nnamdi/Maxwell 2.0 is enough to make me not want to give much of anything up for him. I don't think that'll happen at all.I also wouldn't be surprised if Mixon wasn't drafted at all. A lot of teams this time a year are pandering saying they aren't interested in this or that guy etc. I'm gonna laugh if no one takes Mixon and he has to go to UDFA route and all this debating by everyone not just Eagles fans but Football and Media fans goes for nothing.
I would think he'd want to get that new deal now if tradedHe's getting up there in age, had an off year, and the fear of him becoming Nnamdi/Maxwell 2.0 is enough to make me not want to give much of anything up for him. What happened to the man crush he had for Cook?FWIW, here are Didinger's 3 top targets in the first 3 rounds:
Round 1
Barnett, DE Tennessee
Conley, CB OSU
Mike Williams
Round 2
Jordan Willis, DE Kansas State
Kamara
Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida
Round 3
Kareem Hunt, RB Toledo
Jourdan Lewis, CB Michigan
Chris Wormley, DT Michigan
came off it a week or 2 ago, basically due to further researching the incidents/character issues. He was staunchly against Mixon from the beginning.JetMaxx said:What happened to the man crush he had for Cook?
So apparently his staunchly argued and HOF credentialed radio show musings regarding Cook were a waste of time. I put about that much stock on his top 3 target list.came off it a week or 2 ago, basically due to further researching the incidents/character issues. Cook is a great talent and would probably be a great fit in the offense.he adapted his opinion once the evaluation was based upon poor test results/character concerns that were easily researched and no longer upon the highlight reel.Cook is a great talent and would probably be a great fit in the offense.
he adapted his opinion based on additional research and information. which is why i am generally interested in his opinions, as i know they are based on reason. not saying they need to be gospel, but more often than not worth considering.
That was me on Mixon I'm just not high on him at all. Nothing stands out to me with him. All I saw in video was a guy who took advantage of very bad defenses in one division. Just don't see the hype surrounding him. Fournett and Cook IMHO played against better competition. The Big12 isn't known for defense at all these days.JuniorNB said:Just a couple random thought since I just caught up from a couple days worth of posts.....
I guess it's the result of the Eagles getting burned badly by the last two top cornerback free agents they signed , but I don't want anything to do with Richard Sherman.
Also, whoever said that mix and might not get drafted at all is crazy. A lot of people think he is the best running back in the entire draft. Greg Cosell said he could be a top-10 pick if he didn't hit a girl when he was 18 years old. I wouldn't want to burn the first on him, but I would love to have them take a defensive end or cornerback in the first round and get him in the second.
Hopefully nothing more then a camp body. The dude is god awful. I heard from a friend a Raiders fan before McGloin got hurt he was so bad they were actually thinking Starting Connor Cook.Bigboy10182000 said:McGloin signed to a 1-year deal
Most teams carry a 3rd string QB McGloin seems to fit that bill. Although Sanchez is probably better at this point.Hopefully nothing more then a camp body. The dude is god awful. And now we've already started I see some idiots saying we should trade Foles and keep McGloin because apparently Foles Sucks. Last I checked McGloin never had an historical season and threw 7 TDs in a game. Never came close to it.
I'd take Mark Sanchez before McGloin. There's teams who don't carry 3 QBs and I was always fine with Two but we had a need with injury prone guys we had in Vick and Bradford here. Hopefully McGloin is cut so we can save his spot for a deserving player who plays his butt off or add depth elsewhere. Most teams carry a 3rd string QB McGloin seems to fit that bill. Surprised the Texans didn't pursue him. Had his best season at PSU under O'Brien.Bigboy10182000 said:McGloin signed to a 1-year deal
I'm not a huge Godwin fan. It's not that he's bad he needs to work on his route running and he's had issues catching easy passes. He made some amazing catches at PSU but that had to do with more his QB has such a terrible weak arm. My co worker who is a huge fan said their QB use to just throw that ball up there hoping his guy got it a lot of catches were lucky they weren't picked off. Goodwin isn't very fast either which could be a problem separating from players. If I can I'd rather keep J Matt as I think he;'ll thrive with 2 guys in front of him now as Goodwin is nothing more then a good slot guy in the NFL.Ray Diddy had the Eagles taking Chris Godwin in the 4th. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he was there but I think he's worked himself in to the high 2nd rd. Might even be a fringe 1st rounder.
Then again, we are in need of a new player whose name the fans can mangle on a regular basis - now that Chase Daniels has left town.I'm not a huge Godwin fan. As much as I would love to have him, there's no way he falls out of the Top 10.All the talk about McCaffrey's meteoric rise up the draft board has me wondering - if Fournette falls to 14, would they pull the trigger on him? Should they?
I'm ok with that but what I don't want is to take the 4th or 5th CB on the list because we needed a corner. When guys like Williams, Foster or Davis could all be available.Skoo said:As much as I would love to have him, there's no way he falls out of the Top 10.
Hoping we go corner in the 1st. Enough already with hoping the 4th-6th rounders end up being studs.
Mike Williams? No thanks. He couldn't get separation in college with an elite qb.I'm ok with that but what I don't want is to take the 4th or 5th CB on the list because we needed a corner. When guys like Williams, Foster or Davis could all be available.
Elite QB? OkMike Williams? No thanks. He couldn't get separation in college with an elite qb.
I would still take Williams over Conley and Adored Jackson types. They look like 2nd round CBs being pushed up for need. If Lattimore falls to 14 then ok.Well elite college qb
Read an article earlier that had us taking humphry from bama in round 2.I would still take Williams over Conley and Adored Jackson types. They look like 2nd round CBs being pushed up for need. If Lattimore falls to 14 then ok.
I agree. With where we pick and the needs that we have it will be BPA and as long as it's not a QB I don't care.I would still take Williams over Conley and Adored Jackson types. They look like 2nd round CBs being pushed up for need. If Lattimore falls to 14 then ok.
that would be awesome.Read an article earlier that had us taking humphry from bama in round 2.
It's going to have to be a decent return the more I look at it though. I'm 100% fine with BPA at any position that's not a QB.Still have a feeling we trade back though which would be the most ideal.
For who? It's going to have to be a decent return the more I look at it though. I'm 100% fine with BPA at any position that's not a QB.
I also wouldn't rule out the possibility of going up. Howie is aggressive and there's a few guys we could deal to offset what we give to move up a few places. It won't be bad drastic a jump as last year but I could see us going to say 9-10 if need be.
I could see a move up for Lattimore or Barnett. Maybe even Fournette. I think the top 10 will be VERY unpredictable this year. For who?
Foster sure but Williams and Davis? Davis has drops issues in college and some scouts seam to be a little worried he wasn't more productive in a conference with the lack of competitiveness it had. Also it's a bit concerning that Williams played against the toughest CB competition he went up against ever in the National Title game and was basically held without a catch till a 3QTR short yardage and a 4th QTR big play catch do to blown coverage. He played against what many scouts consider in Humphrey the best CB in the draft. There's also questions about his jump ball and 505/50 ball skills considering ACC DBs are smaller then the avg NFL DB. Some scouts have compared him to a pour man Mike Evans. Evans is good but has been terrible inconsistent since he came in the league. The Eagles offense is predicated on the Wideouts getting Separation too. I honestly wouldn't touch any of the top 3 WRs in this draft. I think if the talent was more top heavy non of the 3 players would be mentioned as a top 1st. Maybe late 1st but more of 2nd rounders. I'd also hate to take a WR just to take one in the 1st round. Not really high on the WRs as others are.I'm ok with that but what I don't want is to take the 4th or 5th CB on the list because we needed a corner. When guys like Williams, Foster or Davis could all be available.
I'd take a few guys over Conley. Not really high on OSU CBs. Sure there's a few guys right now but most of the top OSU guys have failed. The reason Malcom Jenkins is a safety is he was so bad at CB in the NFL and why I hate the Eagles moving him down to cover Slot WRs as I see him get destroyed all the time by them. We saw it last year after Brooks went down.I agree. With where we pick and the needs that we have it will be BPA and as long as it's not a QB I don't care.
I would take all 3 WR's over Conley though. Not that I dislike him but they're just rated higher to me.
