***Official 2018 St. Louis Cardinals Thread*** -- Matheny gone (2 Viewers)

100 wins. Central Division Champs. All Heart. Amazing Team no matter what happens from here.

Get some rest this weekend Cardinal Nation and gear up for next week.

Tickets for potentials Cardinals home games in the NLCS go on sale tomorrow at noon Central.
I'm going to be in town for one day in October. ALCS only that night. <_<

Though I'm sure my parents would love, "Hey, great to see you. Off to the game. Bye."

Game 1 is the day after I get back from Orlando. That idea got shot down quickly. Considered Game 6, but didn't get logged in soon enough for seats I wanted.

So... holding out for I-70 Series II: Electric Boogaloo. If that happens, I'll try to go to one game in KC and one in STL.

My gut says we should be rooting for Cubs and Mets to keep the experienced playoff teams out.

Third-order winning percentages say rooting for Mets is easy call over Dodgers, but that the Cubs are clearly better than the Pirates.

Garcia-Lackey-Wacha?
Viva El Birdos agrees. They had a good post breaking down Garcia v Lackey for Game 1. Both are good choices, but Garcia's superior ability to keep the ball on the grounds and in the stadium tips the scales towards Garcia.

Also encouraging: both averaged about 6.5 innings per start this season. If they both can pitch that deep in the playoffs, that's less opportunity for Broxton to take the mound.

Yep. With the way Lackey likes to pound away at the outside corner, he will want a plus-plus pitch framer to give him a little extra room out there.

Let's say they're down 2-1 going into game 4. Would you be shocked to see a, "Let's see how many innings we can get out of Wainwright and then all hands on deck" approach?

Molina and Cruz. Gonna try to play Yadi with a splint.

Reynolds and Moss at 1B. No Adams.

Greg Garcia as backup MI. No Kozma.

OF: Holliday, Heyward, Piscotty, Jay, Pham, Grichuk. No Bourjos.

Got to think Piscotty sees time at 1B.

Still think their best lineup would be Carp, Piscotty, Holliday, Heyward, Peralta, Grichuk, Yadi, Wong.

Feels like an 80s sitcom, where the actor would be sick or something, so they'd just sub in someone for them.

"This post-season, the role of Randy Choate will be played by Jonathan Broxton."

If Broxton blows an 8th inning lead, especially with a poor throw to first after fielding a ground ball, I'm cracking skulls.

If I felt Matheny could commit to Maness-Siegrist-Rosenthal across the back, I'd feel better about it. Rather have Cishek than Broxton, but wow they have a lot of faith in Broxton.

Yeah if Holliday, Grichuk, and Heyward are all good to go, that does make Piscotty an option at 1B. Would rather have Piscotty than Reynolds at 1B against lefties.Gonna be weird having bats off the bench that can hit for power. Not going to miss Descalso filling in at first.

Tell me about the legends lounge, I'll be making an apperence there this Saturday

:pumped:
It's like The losers lounge at Wrigley except everyone talks about all the playoff and World Series games they have been to instead of just the Bartman game at Wrigley.

Agree with leaving Adams off.

Finally with Kozma.

Would definitely have kept Bourjos over Jay simply for his speed. It's not as if Jay's bat is overwhelming with his injury.

The Broxton thing is mind boggling.

Carpenter 3B

Piscotty 1B

Holliday LF

Heyward CF

Peralta SS

Grichuk RF

Molina C

Wong 2B

ETA: exactly the lineup Sacamano suggested

Wong batting 8th not bad at all. Weird not seeing an auto-out.Let's start this like game 1 of the season.
