*Official 2018 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Tough way to go out. Magic finally gone. (2 Viewers)

@AlbertBreer The Eagles get picks 52 and 125 and a 2nd rounder in 2019. The Ravens get Lamar Jackson.

Not bad

Eagles get: Picks 52, 125 and a 2019 second round pick. Ravens get: Pick 32 and 132.

UGH.   125/132 a wash.  Moved from 32 to 52 and only picked up a 2nd NEXT year.

We got a 2019 2nd in the trade too!!!!! Howie you Evil Genius!!!!!

#Eagles get: Picks 52 (2d rd) 125 (4th) and a 2019 second round pick. Ravens get: Picks 32 and 132 (4th).

How is that Genius?  We dropped from 32 to 52 and only picked up a 2019 2nd rounder in return.

Only? That's not bad. Cards only gave up a 3 r d and 5th to move up from 15 to 10. Value is light this year. The extra 2nd next year will turn into something decent.

Cards gave up a 3rd and a 5th to move up 5 spots.  Ravens gave up a FUTURE 2nd to move up 20 spots.

meh....not the kind of return I would have expected. Not awful, just not typical HOwie return.

This is where Howie uses Kendricks to move up from 52.
I'll be okay with it if we move up.  Still seems like we got desperate.  Howie is still a genius but that doesn't mean EVERY one of his moves is amazing.  Really not a fan of this one... a future 2nd (Some say similar to a current 3rd, but let's not get into that value debate) to move up a whopping 20 spots into the 1st round is PEANUTS.

ehhh, there is soooo much value in the draft with RBs in mid-late rounds, i'd rather see them get some more picks and focus on some needs (OL depth, etc.). Eagles can get a RB like candy, they gave up a 4th for Ajayi? a proven NFL RB for so little, RB is really not a great pick in the 1st round historically

Dropping from 32 to 52 is massive.  In the past, teams have gotten much bigger hauls for that kind of a move down.
That's a big 2nd. We got 2 now for next year 12 picks overall

RoundHow acquired

 1Eagles' own pick

 2Eagles' own pick

2 Ravens Pick

 3Eagles' own pick

 4Eagles' own pick

 4Compensatory pick (Trey Burton)

 5Eagles' own pick

 6Eagles' own pick

 6Compensatory pick (Beau Allen)

 6Compensatory pick (Patrick Robinson)

 7Eagles' own pick

7 (conditional)(Acquired from Broncos for Allen Barbre - Exact conditions not yet known)

We all liked Guice, but the numbers don't bear out a RB in the 1st being good value.

wouldn't have minded a Hernandez pick.  It's possible they aren't enamored with this draft and preferred an extra pick next year, too - or just thought getting younger and getting that players and his cheap contract from 2019+ when we're going to be paying Wentz $$ was preferable.

Interesting

@BleedingGreen: Howie on picks: We’re not ticking down the value because it’s a year later, a second round pick is a second round pick.

I'm really struggling on the value we got in return. I understand we're going to try to look at it positively and trust Howie, (and this doesn't take anything away from his brilliance) but I just can't get there.

Baltimore wanted Jackson, and we were their only shot at him. Surely they offered more than a future 2nd?  Last year Seattle picked up a 3rd rounder (current year) just to move from 26 to 31.  Look at what Arizona gave up to move 5 spots.  I understand that the cost per spot is greater higher up the draft, but this is a significant drop down for us. Based on all previous years (and this year), the value of moving up from 52 to 32 is much higher than a future 2nd.

We are still the champs so stress level is much lower, and I do like that we traded down, but am surprised that someone out there wasnt willing to give us more.  Baltimore must be thrilled with how little they gave up.

one of the Birds with Friends podcasts talked about how the 32nd pick is actually a great place to draft a QB if a team likes one. something about you can get more years out of 1st rounders or something and the rookie salary is cheap. i can't remember the details, but wasn't something i haven't heard before
The current CBA has all drafted rookie contracts set at 4 years. All 1st round picks must have a 5th year club option in their contracts.

Waking up to the trade my immediate reaction was “that’s it”. Sounds like I’m not the only one. No chance I’m actually mad just underwhelemd as well.

Have to remember their draft boards too. Truly hypothetical but If the player they had at 32 is graded at 91.5 compared to the player at 52 rated an 89.3, then they know they made a good deal. Just a way of thinking that Howie didn’t lose much value.  But I trust the 20+ team of guys figuring this #### out more than myself. :)

Would have been nice to get more but we had to trade that pick.  Makes too much sense.  Tons of guys on the board at 52 that aren't that different than 32 plus we get another second rounder.  It's a no brainer.

Why are you guys so RB happy when you have Ajayi and Clement???
That's what I'm thinking.  Ajayi, Clement and a late rounder, Sproles or a cap casualty are fine this year.

If a stud RB falls into our laps high this year...so be it.  But I'm fine with letting Ajayi walk next year and taking an RB next year to go with Clement.
