Agreed. Bringing up how much money someone earns as a point for/against their right to speak up is quite idiotic.
What's idiotic is many, many people don't even understand what the kneeling is about, or just don't care. Kneeling during the anthem is not unpatriotic. In fact, it's the exact opposite.Agreed. Bringing up how much money someone earns as a point for/against their right to speak up is quite idiotic.
Where?Doug's about to go live. Should be interesting. Tune in if you're awake.
Just got a notification on my phone and the FB group had him going live right away. Weird, it just cut out.Where?
Must have been a glitch? I can't find it anywhere on the website or fb page now. I swear that's what it said!Where?
All good. Thanks for double-checking!Must have been a glitch? I can't find it anywhere on the website or fb page now. I swear that's what it said!

Guess so. You said it was idiotic for athletes who make a lot of money to continue to push their political views. I don't think it's idiotic for someone to stand up for what they believe in, and I think their salary is irrelevant. Anyways, if you came in here just to make a political statement, perhaps a different forum. Thanks for completely missing the point.

How did the Eagles protest in a team venue during work hours? Not showing up to the white house is not protesting in a team uniform during work hours. Yet you agreed he should have cancelled their visit because they didn't want to show up outside of work hours, not in uniform. That’s correct. Their income is derived from a percentage of league revenues, which in turn is generated directly or indirectly from the fans - whom they are increasingly alienating by forcing their political viewpoints upon during entertainment events. That’s not very bright in a business sense.
The level of their income is only meaningful in as how large is given their occupation, and certainly does not give them any greater expertise in any of the political issues.
Further, as has been addressed ad naseum, the players have no right to protest in a venue provided by the team, in team uniform, during work hours. The right to protest is provided in the Constitution as protection from the government.
And as to knowing the issues involved, go have a listen to Kaepernick speaking about the issues and how misguided and unknowing he is in many cases about his knowledge.
But you just keep on focusing on the peripheral portions of statements so that you can keep putting forth your brilliantly righteous indignations.

And you're entitled to that opinion. The issue we're talking about is the Eagles though. They've never kneeled. That's how I feel about the players kneeling. Use a different forum.
Your point was they shouldn't protest while on the clock. You made that clear. The Eagles didn't.So you are going to disassociate this event from the kneeling for the anthem, despite tying the two together earlier?
And again, read the first paragraph of my response again please. Pissing fans off with their high profile public non-entertainment related behavior that is tied to the team (and the NFL by association) takes a large risk of deflating league income, which in turn would reduce thr slice of the pie going to the players.
Did it make more sense that time?
And yes, when by some accounts only 5 players were going to show up he rightfully canceled.
Looks like there was a presser after all. Most notably, Doug said Carson is cleared for 7 on 7 drills. All good. Thanks for double-checking!
Your point was they shouldn't protest while on the clock. You made that clear. The Eagles didn't.
Also, I'd be willing to bet that if you polled all nfl fans, not showing up to the White House would be supported by over half of them. They are not "disrespecting the flag" by not going to meet Trump.
So now youre changing your tune and saying he should have cancelled because some players didn't want to support the president (nothing to do with the anthem, and not on company time)? They didn't want to go and he pulled the plug to save face. What are you missing here?
Quit before you're fired. Took one from Trump's books.Nevermind. I should have known better that the conversation would go in this direction. My mistake. Have a great day.
Tweet from Zack Berman:Looks like there was a presser after all. Most notably, Doug said Carson is cleared for 7 on 7 drills.
Definitely positive news. I usually would bet "he won't be ready" anytime coach's say "we won't rule it out" , but doing 7 on 7 already, with 3 months until the season seems pretty darn impressive.Tweet from Zack Berman:
Biggest news of the press conference was Carson Wentz progressing to 7-on-7. That allows him to work in a controlled environment, Pederson said. ...Eagles are encouraged with his progress. They won't give a timetable, but no one I've talked to has ruled out Wentz's Week 1 goal.
I put his chances of starting week 1 (or 2) at less than 50%, but its positive news and so far no set backs.Definitely positive news. Ya you've always been low on his outlook for week 1. You may be right, but just seems fast for him doing 7 on 7s. I don't know the answer to this, but how long before game action were other qbs with the same injury doing what Carson is doing now? Would be interested to know.I put his chances of starting week 1 (or 2) at less than 50%, but its positive news and so far no set backs.
Just tempering expectations. I would much rather have him on the field at the end of the season than the beginning. this is the most appalling thing about the whole issue, and it is really depressing. But I am afraid this is the world we live in now where significant portion of the population needs to be told what to think. see tons of passion against it, but then absolutely no thought process behind why it is. I am glad some people in the media are still out there telling the story about the meaning behind why Kap was kneeling, but if people don't know now, they never will. What's idiotic is many, many people don't even understand what the kneeling is about, or just don't care. My last post on it here in this thread and the SP.
yeah, we got a long way to go.......For anyone not following the OTA live updates, De'Vante Bausby seems to be the day's standout.
Goedert getting a lot of RZ work and looking good. (yes, its OTAs and no one's in pads).
Its a very slow day here at work so I've been following the live twitter feeds. Can't wait for football again.yeah, we got a long way to go.......
all I care about for now is no injuries. Alshon can drop 80% of his passes, but as long as no injury we can figure it out in July-August
Me too. Esp slow wait this year. Guess it's cause we kicked everybody's ### last seasonIts a very slow day here at work so I've been following the live twitter feeds. Can't wait for football again.![]()
You're not listeningThe players continue to bite the hand that feeds them - and I’m not talking about Trump. It’s just blatant idiocy for people who garner ridiculous levels of pay for entertaining large masses to continue to wantonly push political views that many just don’t want to hear.
And for Pete’s sake, can’t Trump just shut the **** up for once? Yeah, cancel the event - I agree with that. But just stop with the sophomoric rhetoric already. You made your point. Let it speak for itself.
I just want to drop in say ...
... what's up "CHAMPS"!
Thank you for clarifying what #45 has been saying for several years now -- Profits matter most. Everything else, including the constitution, is secondary! That’s correct. lol, seriously. i never even thought about them going, hell didn't even knew they went until a few years ago. and never thought about it until SB loser Brady made a big deal of not going when Obama was in office. the news push that "Eagles let their fans down" is great too. if they are skipping practices i care more than if they are going on a field tripThe white House thing was such a non story to me. Some people were complaining "I've waited my whole life for my team to go to the White House. They need to go." Really random due from Northeast Philly? I've waited my whole life for the parade. I couldnt care less about the white House.
Are you serious about the White House thing? I honestly can't imagine how any single fan could give 2 craps about that (regardless of who the president is).The white House thing was such a non story to me. If my Steelers can't win it all this year, I'll be rooting for Wentz to get it done. But after that, I'm done rooting for this team. I hate dynasties.WE WON THE ####### SUPER BOWL
Nope, you're with us for good now.If my Steelers can't win it all this year, I'll be rooting for Wentz to get it done. But after that, I'm done rooting for this team. I hate dynasties.![]()
There were some old heads calling in to the stations saying this. Their intentions pretty obvious more to do with anti players kneeling and less to do with the white house. Are you serious about the White House thing? I honestly can't imagine how any single fan could give 2 craps about that (regardless of who the president is).
Stinks finally knowing your team can't win a title without cheating I guess. It's good to see some Patriots fans are still butthurt about the results of the last Super Bowl. C'mon Pats fans, you've got your 5 rings, let us lowly Eagle fans enjoy one!![]()
The sad part is it has nothing to do with the Anthem. It's just him playing on his supporters feelings. heck On Memorial Day Benjamin Albright wrote something about how Trump's Memorial Day tweet was disgusting and how he was embarrassed as a veteran who did 2-3 tours of Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. How quickly the Pro Support the Vet people change their views of who is respected troops wise when the Veterans don't agree with their narrative. Some of the comments being made were downright dispicable. I actually mentioned too two of the tweeters this isn't supporting the troops like you claim harassing a veteran with a different POV then you but hey thanks for proving how many frauds there on on the whole this is about the troops campaign on this. They were stepping over their own two feet trying to defend themselves. Also anyone who knows football knows this whole Anthem protest is nothing more then Little baby Donny Throwing a temper tantrum because he couldn't own an NFL team and blames them for the USFL going bankrupt. No different then why he hates Mexico. He had a Miss Universe deal for Monterey or Mexico City that fell through and in 2011 or so tried to build a real estate vacation resort in the West Coast of Mexico in the Monte Carlo region. He pocketed over $34M from other investors before canceling the project and claimed he was only supporting it name alone. He lost both court appearances which is why he's so H**l bent on destroying Mexico.I feel like he's probably pretty damn happy with the new rule. It's pretty pro-what he wants.
I'm moving on from politics to football, but just wanted to correct the record. Shannon Bream did apologize on-air. The statement from the pres of Fox News was also broadly covered in the press. (Just offering info, not a defense.)They got a storm of people going after them and they deleted the segment off their social accounts but only apologized online. Sorry but I want a full apology on air from the President of Fox News. Theres now people out there who think Eagle players actually knelt during the anthem which is factually wrong. Honestly if these players start receiving death threats and such they can legally sue the station for Defamation and other things. Not everyone has socially media which is why an on air apology is needed.
I never saw anything on the on air apology. I must have missed it. I just found it and happened the next night. For me a little too late. Should've happened right after they deleted the segment and it should've came directly from the President of the company. The statement I just saw was nothing more then brow beating typical "Oh you caught us messing up intentionally here's an apology hope your happy". There needs to be more to it. We apologize for airing a segment yesterday that misrepresenting the Philadelphia Eagles. We said players knelt but now to our knowledge non of the players knelt during the Anthem all year. We hold our broadcasters and everyone involved here to higher standards etc etc. The statement there is nothing more then your typical BS company apology they send out. Either way I'm done with it. Just more so wanted to put my thoughts out there after missing the week thats all.I'm moving on from politics to football, but just wanted to correct the record. Shannon Bream did apologize on-air. The statement from the pres of Fox News was also broadly covered in the press. (Just offering info, not a defense.)
