*Official 2018 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Tough way to go out. Magic finally gone. (3 Viewers)

Anyone looking to go to London? Can't make the trip for family reasons so looking to move my pair of tickets and pregame sideline passes. Tickets won't be in hand until August, but they are coming directly from the team so I assume they will be decent seats. PM me if seriously interested. Nosebleeds are going for >$1,000/a pair on Stubhub and don't even include the sideline passes. Trying to get back what I put into them plus some of the non-refundable travel costs.

Not going to London, but going to New Orleans. Should be a lot of fun.

You've said "we'll agree to disagree" 5 times.  Usually that means you're done talking.  But with you its just the same thing over and over.  You're wrong, move on.
He's like the Lebrun Cavs fan guy in the nBA thread who wants to debate MJ/LBJ all the time with "This is my last post on the topic" or "We'll agree to disagree" but then continues to flame the fames of the debate. Actually he more so reminds me of an old poster at my board who always looked for someone to disagree with and it never became anything more then a pissing match. Total waste of time for way longer then I should've put up with him. The last 3 yrs of the board I had him on ignore. It was great and by that point many people didn't engage him in his schtick.

So, what the hell? Since we're heading into the second week of OTAs on Tuesday, let's just do this.

Quarterback (3): Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Nate Sudfeld

We'll see if the Eagles deal Foles before the start of the season. They are certainly willing, but will another team out there meet the Eagles' trade demands?

Running back (4): Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, Darren Sproles, Matt Jones

The first three running back spots are set, with Ajayi, Clement and Sproles certain to make the team. The fourth running back spot will be a battle between Jones, Donnel Pumphrey, Wendell Smallwood, and undrafted rookie Josh Adams. I'll give the Jones the early lead.

Wide receiver (5): Alshon Jeffery, Mike Wallace, Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, Shelton Gibson

I'm interested in seeing what free agent signing Markus Wheaton still has left, but for now we'll leave him off.

Tight end (3): Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Richard Rodgers

Richard Rodgers is a solid No. 3 tight end with experience, but his spot on the roster isn’t guaranteed. To be determined if a younger guy like Billy Brown can beat him out.

Offensive line (9): Jason Peters, Stefen Wisniewski, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Isaac Seumalo, Chance Warmack, Matt Pryor

The Eagles worked out Pryor both at guard and tackle during the first OTA practice, which was interesting, and perhaps an early check mark in his favor.

Defensive line (10): Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Haloti Ngata, Derek Barnett, Chris Long, Michael Bennett, Josh Sweat, Steven Means, Elijah Qualls, Bruce Hector

We'll assume that Timmy Jernigan will start the season on the NFI (non-football injury) list, which will free up an extra roster spot. In reviewing the Eagles' undrafted free agent signings, one of the standouts to me was USF's Bruce Hector. He's my early dark horse to win a roster spot.

Linebacker (6): Jordan Hicks, Nigel Bradham, Corey Nelson, Joe Walker, Nate Gerry, Kamu Grugier-Hill

We'll see if the Eagles add another veteran linebacker after losing Paul Worrilow for the season with a torn ACL. If so, that could be bad news for Joe Walker.

Cornerback (5): Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas, Avonte Maddox

If one of the corners goes down, a name to watch is De'Vante Bausby, who has good size, NFL experience, and played well on the first day of OTAs.

Safety (5): Malcolm Jenkins, Rodney McLeod, Corey Graham, Jeremy Reaves, Chris Maragos

Because the Eagles only had five draft picks (and one of those picks in Jordan Mailata likely to land on the practice squad), that will open the door for an undrafted free agent or two to make the team. Like Bruce Hector above, I liked what I saw of Jeremy Reaves when evaluating the Eagles' undrafted free agent class, and he was working with the second-team defense in OTAs.

Obviously, Corey Graham is not currently on the roster, but I suspect he will be soon, probably around mid-to-late June.

Specialists (3): Jake Elliott, Cameron Johnston, Rick Lovato

None of these guys have any competition in camp.

So, after we thoroughly dissected why Foles rejected the Cleveland offer, there's this:

"I haven't turned down anything," he said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman.

"The first time I've heard about it was when I got text messages asking if it was true, and that was the first time I had heard about it, so it never got to a discussion with me," Foles continued. "And at the end of it, I'm just a player. I don't decide anything, if it was true or not. ... At the end of the day, I'm not the GM of the team. I have a great relationship with Howie [Roseman] to where if something did happen, we could have a discussion. But at the end of the day, he gets to decide. I'm just a player. But I'm a grateful player for being here."

Now this makes a hell of alot more sense than him turning down the starting job in Cleveland to be a backup in Philly

Some quotes from Foles today:

“We’re handling it like men in the locker room. At the end of the day, we want the team to be successful,” said Foles. “We have too much stuff going on right now. We have too much work ahead of us … fundamental work, route work, new players, getting to know them, teaching them the offense.

“We have so much going on, and whoever plays Week 1, the whole team’s going to be behind them, the whole quarterback room’s going to be behind them. That’s the great part of this team, that’s the big reason this team won the Super Bowl last year.”

“Carson, he looks great. You know Carson Wentz, he’s always continuing to improve,” Foles said. “He’s excelling every single day, he’s pushing. So I’m excited. You’ve seen him out there throwing, moving around – he’s going to take it one step at a time, and I’ll let him answer anything else. But from what I’ve seen, he looks great.”

Foles said he and his wife, Tori, “sorta were hesitant, because so much stuff was going on,” when they were approached with the idea of a book.

“You can make a lot of money doing a book, and I didn’t want to do that, [from] sharing the story about what God’s done in my life,” Foles said. “The reason we decided to do it was, we’re giving away 100 percent of what we get personally to charities, churches, wherever it may be where our hearts felt led. That made the project come to life.”

“We restructured my deal so I would be here, and everything worked out,” Foles said. “It provided protection for me, it provided protection for the team. That was us both saying … both of us want me to be here. I love this team. I love everything about this city, Philadelphia. My wife and I decided to come back here. We’re grateful to be here. We’re grateful the team embraced me being back here. We’re sort of staying in the moment. We talked about it during the playoffs, staying where your feet are, staying in the moment. That hasn’t changed.”

Just a thought.....if Luck is damaged goods...I could totally see BDNick ending up in Indy with Frank....

I almost feel bad for Foles because he deserves to be a starter.....weird conundrum for the eagles....I mean if Wentz doesn't win a superbowl in the next 3 years and they move on from Nick will the fanbase wonder....what if???? Nothing is guaranteed in this league...look at marino...look how hard Peyton had to work just to get to 4 superbowls and win only two....even the greatest don't get there often....some really good QBs cant even sniff a Superbowl like Rivers and Stafford.....

I want to expound on the Dak/Garrett - Foles/Pederson thing real quick.

With what we know now, I'd take Pederson over Garrett, but when you add in Dak/Foles, that swings it the other way dramatically. Garrett gets a lot of heat & some of it deservedly so, but he's one of those HCs who doesn't have as much influence on our outcomes as most HCs (by design). While Garrett is no Belichick, he's not a big negative, either.

Garrett has had some success himself (COY in 2016) & the down year last season could mostly be contributed to extenuating circumstances. To me, he's just a guy. I believe we could do better & Stephen will no doubt can him unless we go deep into the playoffs with this very young team & it might even take a SB victory for him to keep his job.

Stephen isn't soft like Jerry. He's a hardass who demands results.
I can see this line of thinking in general...Qb might well be more important than coach. But you've been (unreasonably) sky high on Dak. Dak is a very good prospect, but might never be better than he's already shown. Looking at the other QB in this discussion, Foles has had some incredible success for long stretches, and might be being downgraded a bit too much for his time in St Louis. BD Nick is the real deal. He's accomplished a heck of a lot more than Dak to this point, and his best has been better than Dak's best (so far). It's not unreasonable to argue that Dak has the higher ceiling, but it's hardly a given he'll reach it. Right now, today, it's hardly unreasonable to call Foles the better QB.

I think it's reasonable to say Foles could be underrated. I much prefer Dak longterm with what we know now & the age difference, but my point was you can always hire a HC. It's my belief there's a LOT of untapped talent out there.

No big deal either way, though. I took it as kind of a fun comparison because it's unrealistic as far as a trade scenario or anything.

I read the quote from Foles above and I don't feel bad for him because the dude understands what is important in life. Based on what he said, he loves the team he's with, he's under contract, and he is going to do the best he can in that situation. If he really wants to start, he will have a chance after this season to put himself on the market and see where he gets offers from. As a Christian, I love that he did not want to make money from the book if it was about what God had done in his life. Truly a humble man, and I am rooting for him to be successful, whether it is as a back-up or starter for the Eagles, or a starter for another team after this season.

Is it just me or does he not want to plant the left leg and drive the throw?
Thought the same thing.  Still, encouraging to see him out there being able to do that much.  Long way to go.  Once he gets past the physical, he'll have the mental aspect to deal with.

Ya still 13 weeks to go. That's loads of time. I hope he sits a few weeks anyways.

Good video. Read that the Bears got the play from Clemson. (Past OC came from there). Ironic (or maybe not) that Burton, who through the TD pass, is a Bear.

I am extremely excited for 2018 but I don't want to let go of 2017.

I love this team.
Awesome find........what a coach. Why let it go, one of the best Superbowl wins of all time against one of the greatest most disliked teams in sports history.

Think it's clear he was just embarrassed that no one would come and was trying to be on the attack before he could be attacked.

Not a single Eagles player sat or knelt during the National Anthem.  One of just 7 teams with a perfect non-kneeling record, in a season that saw it done 684 times.

This is gonna piss a lot of people in Pennsylvania off.  Isn't that a swing state?  Not trying to bring politics into it but I don't know why he wouldn't just let the team come.

DJT is no smarter than a 6 year old. That should tell you all you need to know.

Because most of them weren't going to go, if the reports are accurate, and it would be an embarrassment for him.  He's doing the classic, you can't break up with me, I'm breaking up with you first!

I understand the THEORY of why he did it, it just seems that this looks worse for his image than them not showing up.  He could have played it as "I'm disappointed some chose not to come and celebrate the victory that they earned, but I will play the anthem and celebrate with those who made the trip here".  I think the public would have respected that a lot more.

Well yeah that certainly would have been the better play, but I'm having a difficult time even imagining something so reasonable coming out of his mouth for a situation like this.

Donnie “Bag of Bones” Jones is said to be the only RSVP. They can catch up some other time.

In all seriousness this is the best outcome.....don’t need some going some not and this BS causing a rift in this awesome squad we have. Who cares about visiting the White House let’s win another ring.

Donnie Jones only RSVP?  I thought Carson or Nick said they was going, didn't they?

heard a different story, from a source i trust more (Sheil Capodia from the athletic and birds with friends). his info is a little older so maybe something changed (after their podcast they said the team was meeting to decide what to do), but i think he has the truth. He said basically 5-10% of players wanted to go, 5-10% didn't want to go, and he majority of the team didn't care and wanted to do whatever the team was doing.

honeslty, whoever it pisses off sucks anyway. like the dude who wrote Brandon Graham that message that he was no longer going to be an Eagles fan anymore because of something silly. the state has some funny leanings from time to time, but anybody pissed about this can go find something to do with all the extra time they seem to have

So I take it you're assuming that the 85% "middle grounders" that you mentioned planned to go?
