England make a final or Germany don't make at least the quarterfinals....

History:

England has made 1 final in 1966.

Germany missed the quarter finals only once*, in 1938

*1978 had a really strange format with no quarter finals.

Personally I think the problem with France is that they just aren’t that good in midfield and defense.  I mean, they are good enough to beat most teams, but winning a WC good?  I don’t see it.  You look at all their talent and salivate at the wealth of options but I don’t see anything special behind the front 3-4 players.

Pogba isn’t an enigma to me anymore either.  He’s a classic tweener.

Not sure if he fits with Pogba, but personally I love Kante’s game in PL. He can’t control the ball like a Busquets or attack much, but he’s amazing at calmly taking the ball away from an attack right when it gets interesting.

Deutschland and Lewandowski

Poland scored 28 goals in qualifying, Lewandowski scored 16 of those, the other 12 was scattered between 10 other players. (10 matches)

Univision is not the Spanish rights holder.  Telemundo is.

Telemundo is showing every game outside of the simultaneous games (those are on Universo)

Fox is broadcasting 40 games (the rest are on FS1)

I think he'll be in the mix for best player in the world after the current Big 3 have moved on. He was a dangerous sprinting machine on that Monaco team that made the CL semis a couple of years ago.

 
23 and me said I’m equal parts German, England and French so I got a lot of cards on the table here. Also, big fan of Messi. Gonna bandwagon the hell out of this thing. 

 
Can any of you soccer guys recommend a good spot to host a world cup pool?  I have ran one for the past 2 cups on Yahoo, but it does appear that they offer a game this time.

My long lost uncle was a businessman in Nigeria before his recent death in a traffic accident on the Sagbama Express Road.  I'm currently arranging transfer of his estate with his executors.  I'll ask them if they know of any reputable off-shore agents in his homeland.

 
In a couple of weeks, we start hosting a male foreign exchange student from Spain. So i guess i have to root for Portugal. 

Actually I'm rooting for ABM. Anybody but Mexico.

 
Since there's no games for three days, here's about 8 minutes of highlights from the game that made me a Nigeria fan.  It's the Super Eagles first group game in France '98 vs Spain.

Nigeria had come within a few minutes of beating Italy in the knockouts four years earlier and had won gold at the Atlanta Olympics but Spain was still favored to win the group of death which also included Paraguay and 1994 semi-finalists Bulgaria.  Looking back, there's some poor goal keeping to blame for the scoreline but there's no questioning Sunday Oliseh's moment of brilliance two decades later.
