***OFFICIAL 2018 YANKEE THREAD*** Gleyber Day (1 Viewer)

Gardner's performance is the kind of thing that takes hold of a lineup and make them all hot. A leadoff triple and run to tie it, then the walkoff HR. Did you see how fired up that team was after the game?

For those who didn't see it, the end game was like all the Yankees became the kids Garner grew up with, and a sex tape just came out of Garner nailing Jessica Alba in her pooper. They dumped beer on his head. They grabbed him by the shoulders and screamed how awesome he was in his face. Garner high-fived them all like rams showing off for ewe. It was awesome.

How would you compare this homerun to the one he hit at Wrigley Field in the top of the 9th, with two outs and two strikes?

That homerun sent the Cubs into a major funk that they have only recently come out of. I can still hear the gasp of forty-thousand shocked fans.

Judge chipped a tooth in the celebration.

Also, the A's are insisting on one of Frazier or Torres for Gray. GTFO with that nonsense.

:lmao:

I know Cashman won't even consider it, and this is yet another reason why I'm so hopeful for this team. You don't trade top 20 prospects for a middle of the order starter, even if you're desperate for starters. If they moved Torres, I wouldn't be as pissed, but they better get a lot more than Gray for him. I don't care if he'll miss 2018. The guy is future star in the infield.

Yeah no chance they get one of those guys for gray. That's just silly talk.

If they want florial or Mateo, we can talk. Otherwise, go pound sand Beane.

Traded pitching prospect Littell for Jaime Garcia. Meh

They're still in on gray.
Severino and Monte are approaching their inning ceilings. Girardi hasn't said either have an innings limit, but he'd be insane not to keep their work down to +30% of their previous max. If they can nab Gray without giving up Frazier or Torres, I think it's worth it. He's only 27 and has two more years of arbitration before becoming a free agent. Which means he'd have two years to earn a long term spot in our middle rotation. If they need to give up another top OF prospect like Florial, I think they should do it.

Severino

Tanaka

Gray

Monte

Chance Adams

Imagine that 2018 rotation. It could go from a problem area to a real strength.

Me too.

Steep, but neither Kap or Fowler were playing this year, and Kap is out all next year too with Tommy John.

I hope Gray is worth it.
I always think of Donnie Brasco when I hear this guys name.

If Tanaka can get it back together, we have good top 3 for the playoffs, if we get there.

Freaking Mets

After being mostly shunned at the non-waiver deadline, Jay Bruce was pursued by two AL teams with playoff aspirations and more.

The Yankees were not only one of those teams, they had agreed to send the two prospects requested by the Mets in exchange for the Mets eating a piece of the roughly $5 million Bruce was owed the rest of the season.

While the Yankees had confidence in completing the deal and making Bruce their DH with Matt Holliday on the DL, they also were told by their New York neighbors there was another bidder for Bruce’s services.

And it was the Indians who ultimately landed Bruce, with a source saying the Yankees never got a chance to bid again.

Perhaps it was because Cleveland was willing to assume all the money that Bruce was owed. Maybe it was because in a season of despair, the Mets did not want to add to it by helping the Yankees reach the playoffs. Or it is possible the Mets simply liked the singular prospect, Ryder Ryan, they received from Cleveland, though the righty is at Single-A and has a 4.79 ERA in 33 relief appearances.

Great win. But ### #### they need to shut Chapman down and work on his mechanics or something. What the hell happened to that guy? 3 walks to load the bases with a mere 2 run lead? That's unacceptable. Especially from a guy who used to dominate and is making truckloads of cash.

I'm still trying to figure out why they ever traded for Jaime Garcia. The guy is a half-worn retread and his two starts are hardly surprising.

Was it because they weren't sure if they'd get Sonny Gray?

Is it to help manage both Severino and Monte's innings so they can pitch into the playoffs without pushing them past +30 innings from last year? I can see that.

However, if the playoffs started today, my rotation would be Severino, Gray, Tanaka, Monte. I'd feel good about getting 2 wins from two of them, and another win with strong bullpen support. Severino (W), Gray (W), Tanaka (Jekyll or Hyde? Let's say L), Monte (W with 4 solid innings from the bullpen).

I didn't understand the trade either but he really didn't pitch badly last night

I believe it was a combination of the bolded and that you can NEVER have too much pitching.  We're seeing that first hand with the Tanaka and Sabathia injuries popping up.

Chapman looked so disheartened after that HR last night. Kind of nice to see the passion and that he feels like hes letting down his teammates. Hopefully this hamstring injury gives him a little chance for a breather and to get things right.

Wild card is not the end of the world. Assuming we can beat whatever creepy team wins the second wild card, I'd rather face Houston than Cleveland or Boston. My biggest concern right now is judge. I really hope he wasn't a one half wonder.

I just hate having to go into a series against a team as good as Houston (yes, their rotation is shaky, but still) knowing that severino can't pitch twice.

Assuming the Yanks win the wc game, which would obviously be a total crapshoot.

Looking forward to getting bird and Castro back, hopefully this week.

### #### shame these clowns think playing for today and upholding archaic, unwritten rules of baseball is more important than getting to October

I would love to hear a reason for sending Bettances out there, in a tie game in the 7th, to face the murders row of the Tigers 6-7-8 hitters.
