Some of the headline articles from Joe's past on Wentz. We sure this guy didn't have an agenda of some sort?On the timeline and when he started collecting information:
Months ago, with a very innocuous question in regards to Mike Groh. I was corrected and told basically that (the offensive issues are) not Groh, it’s Wentz. That really stunned me. It really opened my eyes up, so this was a case of a little bit here, a little bit there, and just collecting different other things and tidbits. A lot of what I did was not at the NovaCare Complex. A lot of things were done outside of the NovaCare Complex. What I did was simply go back and confirm, ‘this is what I’m hearing.. this is what I’m hearing from others.. what do you think?‘ I’m going to be questioned on the timing of this and I know I spoke to someone earlier today (who said) ‘you had access to Wentz on Monday, why didn’t you bring this up?’ Well one of the reasons I didn’t bring it up with him was that I didn’t want to let anybody else know what I knew, or what I was told. Two, I wasn’t really on great ground until I got substantial substantiation on Monday night, after Wentz spoke that afternoon. That’s what really kind of put this thing over the top.
Joe says another source came through on Wednesday to help push the story forward.
Ellis asked Santoliquito about the possibility of “aggrieved parties” speaking up, the idea of separating a disgruntled wide receiver, for instance, from a much bigger and legitimate issue.
After the jump:
I think the big thing with this is, if you read the whole story, and you have people just reading the headline, which is kind of freaking pissing me off, but if you read the whole story, it’s balanced. They (readers) stress the negative but everyone I spoke to wants to see this guy succeed. They want this guy to do well. Jon you made a great point earlier about his age. I mentioned the fact that he is 26. I mentioned the fact that he still has some growing up to do. Guys recognized that and mentioned that.
No one’s out to get Carson Wentz here. I’m not to get Carson Wentz here. But does Carson Wentz have some things he needs to address? Yeah. And do the Eagles have things they need to address? Yeah.
Santoliquito went on to mention that there were times this season when Doug Pederson spoke on record, saying that Wentz did not trust the offense.
Jon Marks I think did a really nice job asking the next question, which brought up negative tweets and stories Santoliquito wrote in the past about Wentz, some of which we linked to this morning. Did he come into this story carrying an agenda?
Well, one, I have no agenda against anyone. I mean, Rob knows me very well and could verify that. I have no agenda against anyone. That’s number one. Number two, if anyone knows my body of work, I’m the guy who writes the good guy stuff. I’m the guy who writes about Darren Sproles overcoming his stuttering issue. I’m the guy who spent three days with Brandon Brooks, talking about him overcoming anxiety.
…
Interesting that when the positives come out, and look at the story alone, look at the positives – they’re not accentuated. People look at the negatives. I have no agenda. And the guys that I spoke to, I’m going to validate that – there’s no agenda there either. I’m gonna repeat it; they want to see this guy succeed so badly that it hurts. You’re dealing with a combination of things. You’re dealing with somebody who pressed. We all saw that and we know that. You see someone that didn’t come into the season 100% healthy.
A few more items of notes from the rest of the 15 minute radio hit, from Santoliquito:
he pointed out that Carson Wentz has not a one-on-one with anybody from the Philadelphia media and described him as a “guarded guy” off the field
There was a Wentz faction and a Foles faction in the locker room.
He reiterated that people at NovaCare want Wentz to succeed.
Frank Reich and John DeFilippo had Wentz’s attention more often than not. “He listened to them.” He was allegedly able to “get away” with certain things under Mike Groh that wouldn’t have flown under Reich and Flip.
That’s about it. I’m sure WIP will have full audio up soon.
Haha. Obviously he's a Foles nut. Everything he writes is a hit piece against Wentz. as I stated earlier, I'll go by all the teammates that immediately jump to his defense. As well as ex-teammates.Here's some quotes from this guys appearance on WIP today with Marks per crossing broad

Sounds like it. The more people dig up on this guy the more of a tool he looks. I know the Eagles aren't the type of organization to do this but if the players really wanted to they could get the team to take away this guys credentials for making BS. I just talked to my Co worker who asked her son what was going on. She said her son said no one in the locker room knows who the #### this guy is. There where comments like who wrote this, Who the #### is that, who does he write for, sounds like some guy trying to get his 15, etc. No one in the organization knows who the hell this guy even is. Some of the coaches and personal were just as confused with this guy. He's a nobody and definitely sounds like a guy who has an agenda against Wentz. Dude got exposed big time today. Probably ruined any credibility he had left as a reporter here today.Haha. Obviously he's a Foles nut. I would love to see Graham and hopefully Hicks come back. Ingram would be a nice addition on a reasonable, short-term deal. No interest in bringing back Ajayi.Time to move past this nonsense article and move back to the eagles with some fun hypothetical and critical thinking!!!
What are the biggest moves you hope the team makes this offseason?
For me, its retaining the crucial pieces we have in place the best we can. There aren't a ton this offseason, but there are a few. Graham, Hicks, Tate, Darby, Ajayi. I hope we can offer Graham enough to come back, but my gut says he is going to cash in big elsewhere. I think Hicks and Tate come back. Darby and Ajayi are coin flips in my head.
I'd love to see them NOT completely overhaul the secondary. Draft a Safety in the first 2 rounds to develop and/or start. Jenkins says he is coming back, I'd love to see them put Mills at safety, and bring in one solid VET at the CB spot(resign darby?). Lots of youth who really started to play better with game time in Maddox, Douglas, Le Blanc. I think Sidney Jones needs another year still, the kid was lights out in college.
I'd love to go get a true #1 RB. Could that be Ajayi? Possibly, if the price is friendly. Doubt we chase a high end FA like Bell, but i'd love for a Mark Ingram or McCoy type back.
Depth along the O/D Lines of course. You can never have enough solid depth on the lines.
MY BIGGEST HOPE : Find us a playmaker at the Linebacker position!!! Either in FA or in the draft. I dont feel like our LB are bad, but outside of Hicks (if resigned), nobody at LB even remotely stands out as an impact player. We haven't had a star at the LB position since Jeremiah Trotter and Seth Joyner before that!! Thats 2 in 30 years and none in the last 15 years.![]()
Depends on the deal he gets. If he gets a 1-year prove it deal I’m fine with that. I still would really like them to add Hunt, sign Ajayi and let there be a position battle for the 3rd spot between Clement, Adams and a draft pick or two.No interest in bringing back Ajayi.
I'd rather do this with Ajayi then Hunt. He is most likely looking at suspension time I'd think.Depends on the deal he gets. If he gets a 1-year prove it deal I’m fine with that. yeah i have no problem signing ajayi to a cheap short deal. its not like hes going to command major dollars so it will probably happen. if it does, i would still like them to bring hunt, ingram or another high quality fa proven rb. clement /adams is mighty nice for a rb3. im guessing sproles is staying as well? thats getting crowded with rbsDepends on the deal he gets. This would be my issue with bringing back Ajayi. I don't care how cheap he is, I don't want re-signing him to preclude bringing in other RBs. I'd rather a different FA or a draft pick. This assumes Smallwood/Adams/Clement/Sproles(?) are brought back. And truth be told, I'd rather all 4 of them over Ajayi.yeah i have no problem signing ajayi to a cheap short deal. its not like hes going to command major dollars so it will probably happen. if it does, i would still like them to bring hunt, ingram or another high quality fa proven rb. clement /adams is mighty nice for a rb3. im guessing sproles is staying as well? thats getting crowded with rbs
for anyone interested in the Wentz article, and I think it shouldn't just be dismissed since phillyvoice is a better source than most, there is some good stuff out there. I recommend the Bleeding Green Nation podcast, which has BLG speak on it specifically. the Birds with Friends podcast also covered it a bit. All 3 guys (Brandon Lee Gowton, Sheal Kapadai, and Bo Wulf) are 3 guys respected in the locker room and talk to players all the time. BLG seemed to really hit it on the head with his take, and it is really as how I am viewing it.I do see a validity in latest issue with Eagles regarding Wentz, however, it needs to be emphasized repeatedly that Eagles are 100% committed to Wentz. It is quite clear that he was severely pressing throughout 2018 season. And don't forget that he spent majority of his off-season last year in physical rehabilitation. He hadn't spend training with his teammates especially his receivers to continually develop / refine his timing with them. Wentz will be fine since now he will approach a new offseason activity to get back to his old self. I mean... this guy lives and breathes football 24/7 (perhaps 24/7 may be overstated since he gotten married prior to preseason).
Man, I couldn't agree more. I know there is not an emphasis on the LB position in the defenses they run, etc., but I don't care. Would love to see anybody like Smith in Chicago or some young stud LB who they can put in all sorts of situations. it has been so long, and would be so much fun to have again.Time to move past this nonsense article and move back to the eagles with some fun hypothetical and critical thinking!!!

Agree on secondary too. As much as it was a huge pain in the ###, it seems like we finally settled down and played ok once it was the SAME guys out there together for a string of games. Even if those guys sucked, they somehow seemed to be our best unit of the year. Keep those street guys as they'll probably be cheap, add in a couple other playmakers there but not another huge overhaul back there. Maddox is gonna be good next year I think.Man, I couldn't agree more. I know there is not an emphasis on the LB position in the defenses they run, etc., but I don't care. Also really agree with the secondary. Can they really draft someone who is head and shoulders above Mills, Maddox or any of the other guys they currently have. I am not so sure, and if they can't I think give the guys another year.
Try to retain Graham, Hicks and possible Tate and Darby.Time to move past this nonsense article and move back to the eagles with some fun hypothetical and critical thinking!!!

Why would we draft a rb after trading for fournette? Are you talking about a late round pick?Try to retain Graham, Hicks and possible Tate and Darby.
Upgrade LG and LT through FA or Draft
Find a playmaker at WR and LB hope is to get a Tyreke Hill type playmaker and At LB I wouldn't be shocked if we pulled off a Clowney with some type of ROseman magic. Never count that man out of a single player no matter what Deon Buchannon wouldn't be a bad guy to take either
Find 2 RBs. Either Retain Ajayi on team friendly deal or draft one of the top guys and Sign Ingram. Dream would be Trade Foles to Jax for Fournette and a Pick and then Draft an RB
Draft a safety or Move Mills to his natural position there
Depth in secondary and possible a lockdown CB if can.
Depth at both sides of the line and draft and possible sign a Pass Rusher if Graham isn't retained
I'd find a late round pick. But given Fournette's history with muscle injuries I wouldn't oppose to an earlier round and having all bases covered. Why would we draft a rb after trading for fournette? Are you talking about a late round pick?
Have we found ShahBucks in real life?Haha. Obviously he's a Foles nut.
We'll only know if the writer disappears if Foles ends up playing poorly next season. If he does that, it's definitely ShahBucks.Have we found ShahBucks in real life?
I have a feeling Hunt is going to be highly coveted by more than a few teams and it may not be easy to get him. He's already shown that he's an elite RB and he should come fairly cheap.
I’m just HOPING that the familiarity with the system, job opening and wanting to go to a winning team with good structure helps him get here. If he’s over his issues he would be a steal for us.I have a feeling Hunt is going to be highly coveted by more than a few teams and it may not be easy to get him. he definitely can't choose just any franchise. he definitely needs to go to a team with a strong foundation who can help his image out. Seeing how Andy was able to help get Vick back into good graces (he is on national TV now and certainly not as hated by all), and comparing to other situations around the league, the Eagles would seem to be a desirable place to goI’m just HOPING that the familiarity with the system, job opening and wanting to go to a winning team with good structure helps him get here. They are? ROFL. My God. I've seen fans complain about bad calls before, but they have really been pathetic this week. Between billboards and petitions to have the game played over. Holy crap.I thought this was funny. Basically a poll of who is a sadder franchise, the 2019 Saints or the 2018 Vikings:
https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2019/1/23/18194378/saints-fan-base-vikings-philadelphia-eagles-2018-2019-rams-bitter-sad-embarrassing-restart-game
I had no idea that Saints fans are trying to plan a Super Bowl parade this year thinking they should be in the SB. I had to vote for the Saints myself
Discussing that right now in the conference championship thread. Some Saints fans have absolutely hit a new level in being “sore losers.”They are? ROFL. My God. You don’t think Cataldi and his thousands of followers would be doing something similar? They are? ROFL. My God. I've seen fans complain about bad calls before, but they have really been pathetic this week. Between billboards and petitions to have the game played over. Holy crap.
that is a legit point. I would hope not, and I would hope the other 99% of fans would lay into him for it, but it is a good pointYou don’t think Cataldi and his thousands of followers would be doing something similar?
Thousands? I'd say dozens. You don’t think Cataldi and his thousands of followers would be doing something similar?
Count me as a big Perriman Fan. always liked his potential and maybe with the right QB and coaching he can get there. His big issue is availability do to Injury history. Price is right I'd definitely take big boy Shelton. Thats a lot of Human Mass to move and on top of that you got the size and athleticism of Cox in there and that's not an easy ask for an O-line to pave a way for their back
I dont hate him as a person as I use to but as a player I still hate the dude. Probably the most overrated Football player in the last decade. Makes me sick seeing these young bucks and media saying "if it wasn't for Vick we wouldn't have the Watson's, Kaepernicks, RG3's etc at QB." No if it wasn't for Randall Cunningham none of these guys would have been in the NFL. For yrs since Cunningham was in the league and showed his athletic ability and other skills teams have been trying to find their own Ultimate Weapon. Had Cunningham been a little more coachable and matured plus we hadn't signed Kotite and got him an suitable OC I think with the Defense we had then we could of more then likely made a SB or two in those days and possible won at least 1.he definitely can't choose just any franchise. he definitely needs to go to a team with a strong foundation who can help his image out. Seeing how Andy was able to help get Vick back into good graces (he is on national TV now and certainly not as hated by all), and comparing to other situations around the league, the Eagles would seem to be a desirable place to go
I think they got shafted no doubt but the Saints got what was coming to them. They messed with the Football gods and got punished for it. However to complain about getting shafted when the refs in Our game let them molest our whole Defensive line most of the game and then get bailed out in their own EZ on a phantom Defensive penalty when they could've easily called two blatant penalties on the Saints line for Hands to the face and holding in the EZ which results in a safety and the ball going back to us is just really pathetic. Also why isn't anyone talking about the fact the refs missed a blatant Facemask call on NO when Goff ran out of the pocket on the series LAR got a FG that could've easily resulted in fresh downs and Rams possible TD but but because of the missed call resulted in a FG to put them up only by 3? I'm all for complaining and #####ing and going ham on the refs in almost any sport but this is just incredible pathetic by the Saints fans at this point. I mean lets get this out of the way that theres people who think the Saints won the SB with Brees was the NFL wanted them to after Katrina given some of the calls that year the Saints got favored for. I won't go as far to say the NFL wanted the Saints in that year because I don't have enough solid evidence to make that case. However I will say the Saints did benefit in our game on some missed calls we should've gotten. Happens with every team this year. Yeah two penalties should've been called but they weren't for some reason. Maybe next time the Saints and their fans won't go mocking players and teams.I thought this was funny. Basically a poll of who is a sadder franchise, the 2019 Saints or the 2018 Vikings:

Dallas and Houston have to franchise these guys though right?Tony Pauline thinks Eagles invest heavily in FA EDGE rusher
It is a need with Graham and Long most likely gone. DeMarcus Lawrence or Clowney please.
That is the most likely outcome yes but who knows how there cap situations are.Dallas and Houston have to franchise these guys though right?
Both teams have plenty of room cap wise. Clowney will definitely be franchised, as the Texans won't want to pay what Clowney wants in a long term deal, but they don't want to lose him. Lawrence will either be franchised or sign a long term deal with the Cowboys. My confidence factor is at about 98% on this. That is the most likely outcome yes but who knows how there cap situations are.
I like the way you think Noid! I think I shall concur!I've finally made up my mind: if one of these two teams has to win the SB, I would rather it be the Patriots.
And that last one also kind of works as the only "pro" if the Rams win: they both beat the Pats for the SB, but we're 2-0 against them.
- They already have 5, what's it matter if they have 6?
- It makes our win over them last year look stronger.
- Maybe Belicheck and/or Brady finally hang it up and the dynasty starts to fade, for real.
- I won't be able to take all the slobbering McVay will get for the next 12 months, or more, if the Rams win. I'm used to all the slobbering done for Brady/Belicheck so (again) what's some more?
- It leaves Doug with something more to hold over McVay: Not only is he 2-0 heads-up against him, but Doug was able to beat the Pats in a SB.
