*Official 2019 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* - Season's over; Go Away Now... (1 Viewer)

I'm really excited about our secondary. Good mix of youth and vets.  Alot of guys got trial by fire last year.  People are going to have problems throwing on us

Loving these things.  Today's installment:

We’ll start with the first fight of camp:

1. It happened in offensive line vs. defensive line 1-on-1 drills. Rookie fourth-round pick Shareef Miller was working against rookie offensive tackle Casey Tucker, who was lined up at right tackle for the play.

It felt like I watched the fight brew in slow motion. Miller got his hand up under the facemark of Tucker and kept pushing forward during the rep. It was clearly hands to the face and Tucker didn’t like it. At the end of the rep, Miller ended up on the ground with Tucker on top of him and then the pushing began. Eventually a few punches were thrown in the scuffle before the two were separated.

2. Another note from OL-DL drills: There might be a bruise on Andre Dillard’s chest after the ferocious bullrush Brandon Graham used on him a couple times. Dillard is a smooth technician but he was no match for Graham’s punch. The veteran pushed the rookie back a few times.

3. The Eagles went live (tackling to the ground) for the second time of camp. Later in practice, Kamu Grugier-Hill got hurt on one of these reps.

But the most exciting part of today’s practice came when they went live from the goal line. The first-team offense scored on 3 of 5 plays down there. Here’s a recap:

• Jordan Howard ran a counter and was basically untouched as he ran into the end zone for a touchdown.

• On the second play, Carson Wentz tried to get the ball to Alshon Jeffery after a pick of sorts on the left side, but Grugier-Hill leaped up and batted the ball down. He’s made a few of those plays this summer.

• The OL got a good push on the next play and Josh Adams pushed into the end zone.

• The DL got a good push and stuffed Howard.

• After seeing good coverage, Wentz went through his progressions and eventually found Zach Ertz in the back right corner of the end zone.

The first-team offense did much better than the second team. They didn’t make it into the end zone on their five chances.

4. Another big pass from Wentz to DeSean Jackson. During 11-on-11s, Wentz identified the blitz coming from the nickel corner and threw to that side of the field. Jackson got a step on Avonte Maddox and Wentz dropped it in the bread basket down the sideline for a long touchdown. Offensive play of the day.

5. With the pads on and in live tackling periods, we’re seeing the Josh Adams that had folks excited during last year’s camp. The second-year running back had a few runs on Saturday where he broke multiple tackles. He doesn’t go down easy.

6. During group install, the Eagles ran a trick play where Wentz tossed the ball to Darren Sproles, who then passed it to Josh Perkins in the end zone for a touchdown. This would be something to see in a game. Despite his long career and 19,520 all-purpose yards, Sproles has never had a passing attempt. He and Tim Brown are the only two players with over 19,000 all-purpose yards to never attempt a pass. The other six have.

7. A few depth chart notes:

• Good sign for Rodney McLeod, who was back in 11-on-11s today in the “thud” period. He said the only thing he’s being held out of is the live tackling portions of practice.

• Today was Sidney Jones’ day in the slot. While he and Rasul Douglas were the starters in the base package, Jones slid inside in nickel while Avonte Maddox went to LCB.

• In his first practice with the Eagles and after suffering a torn ACL about a year ago, Johnathan Cyprien participated in 11-on-11 drills today. He even got some run with the second team.

• DT Hassan Ridgeway got some work with the first team today. It appears he's ahead of Treyvon Hester, who has also had a nice camp.

8. The highlight of the WR vs. DB 1-on-1 drills was a rare win from a defensive back. In this case, Malcolm Jenkins jammed the heck out of Nelson Agholor at the line of scrimmage and it looked like Agholor never recovered. Eventually, Jenkins leaped up in the end zone to intercept a pass from Wentz.

9. Saw something from Blake Countess today. Big hits on back-to-back plays during 11-on-11s. On the first, he made an open field hit on Perkins and on the next he came up to take out Wendell Smallwood on a run.

10. Dallas Goedert had another touchdown in a team period today. This one came on a pass from Nate Sudfeld. Goedert has been really tough to cover this summer.

Goedert sounds like he is on for a big year, for fantasy is there any chance we have two TE 1?
Nah I dont think so.   He will better than last year but still not start able imo.  But if you have bench space I could see stashing him in case ertz misses time.  There are alot of mouths to feed on the offense

Yeah I was nervous about the secondary a month ago but man am I feeling better especially regarding Jones. As long as 11 is healthy this team will score. But if the secondary somehow becomes a strength than I’m feeling even stronger about the team being a top 2 super bowl contender.

Tuned in for a lot of commentary and interviews and no coverage of the actual practice. 👎🏼
I was there it was great for the exception my buddy Is sucker for the yard sale stuff and sales at the pro shop. So up until the last 45 mins we didn't get field level seats where we sat behind the EZ on the Opponents side of the field near where the opposing team tunnel is. We did sit earlier with no lower level tickets in the club seats right at MF. Holy SHyte are those some good seats Kind of disappointed no SWOOP tonight.

My cousin also texted me offering me the preseason game Thursday but I work till 7 and don't see how I can change it right now. If it was a regular season game I would've done everything I could to at least maybe go in 2-3 hours early and leave 2-3 hours early before the game. Only good thing with Thursday Preseason for me is I at least get out on time or 30 mins after the start.

Are they still selling the Super Bowl stuff? I confess, when I was down there picking up my Autism Challenge shirt in May, I had to buy  a couple of shirts. $5. :excited:

Yes There were $5 hats and shirts and sweatshirts. I was thinking of getting a Sweatshirt but I have so many at this point and barely wear most of them. They had the track Grey Super Bowl Jackets %50 off but they were still like $160 jacket or so still. Trying wait to grab one when they go down more. Hopefully with the next SB win (Hopefully this year) maybe the Jacket gets discounted further. I have a long sleeve and Short Sleeve Super Bowl Champs shirts already too they had.  Pro Shop also had Hicks Jerseys the $100 ones for $20 which I almost got. They had some Tates as well. I was hoping to get a discounted Chris Long but they didn't have one.

I've also found similar items overpriced in the pro shop I got on Amazon for a lot less. The Eagles Fleece Blankets (I needed a new one) I got for literally $40 less then what the Pro shop had it at. Some of the prices on the things there is just ridiculous

LOL, I had to fight myself to not get a hooded sweatshirt. Was $10, but I never end up wearing the pullover kind, either. Zippered I'd have snatched up.

I seem to recall some Cowboys fans telling us they didn’t need Goedert because they had Rico Gathers. Hmmmm....
Recall Howie sniped both the Cowboys and the Patriots in a trade up for Goedert. Jumped from 52 to 49 to select him. Guess who was picking 51 and 50? :lmao:

preseason trivia from Les Bowen to get you pumped

-Who led the Eagles in receiving last preseason?

-Of the four quarterbacks in the 2014 camp, which one compiled the highest preseason passer rating?

-Which 2009 training camp Eagle achieved the highest preseason punt return and kick return average?

-In 2012, when the Eagles went 4-12, their worst record of the current century, what was their preseason record?

-In the 2001 preseason, which former Notre Dame quarterback compiled a 49.4 passer rating for the Eagles?

Hurt Goederts career he won't see 100 targets a year until he's 28 but them are the breaks. He would have been a star in Dallas right away.

Usually were on the wrong side of history for those moves. This one was an epic steal. Yes he is a luxury right now but he would be a beast on Dallas or NE. Happy to have him here.

I call it the shady Shuffle and I use to hate it. I said when we draft him I hated the shifty E-W when he should be running N-S running. Just get what you can and don't try to over do it. I think For as many yards as McCoy got us the dude also could've had way more had he just taken what was given to him. I'll be happy if Sanders is anywhere near McCoy but Miles seems like a much better human then Shady ever could be. As long as he isn't going after baby mommas and getting "offended" by teammates He's already 10xs the human Shady ever was.

Also did you guys know "Mies Sanders is Barry Sanders son?" No seriously this was a legit convo two guys behind my friend and I were having. Both had 1 kid with them son and the other a daughter. Not sure if they were friends or not but did leave together. They had no clue who most of the RB's on the team were and because Miles last name was Sanders the convo turned into yeah I believe that's Barry's son. I so wanted to turn around and school the 2 of them but the convo was just so entertaining with how clueless they were. This was one of those you had to be there to get the full effect though. Barry Sanders JR is an RB at Stanford btw. It was bad enough both thought Miles was Barry's kid but neither one really knew Miles Sanders despite being from PSU. Probably the highlight in terms of funny that night. They both sounded like your typical WIP Cataldi type callers though so it wouldn't be surprising if they were because that crowd is a bunch of absolute knuckle dragging neanderthal morons

Can we legally change his First Name though. I almost throw up a little in my mouth every time I have to say his full name to someone.

According to the Cowboys board, the Cowboys weren't taking Goedert even if he was there.  They got the exact guy they wanted in Connor Williams.

They had their future star in Rico lined up... they had zero need for a TE.  Especially since they knew Witten would be back too.

Excited for tonight to see the guys out there.  Obviously not many starters will play but hopefully the rookies get some work in.  Let's see if Clayton can actually do anything tonight.

Witten told Jurrah that he wanted a year off to follow other projects. When Witten was told to stick to his day job by the professionals he told Jurrah he was coming back.

Nate Sudefield just went down with a wrist arm injury to the non throwing hand/arm. Its in an aircast/brace doesn't look too good. Hopefully it's just precautionary and a minor sprain

He made a nice long td pass

Other than that not much to see in this game

Also this isn't official but came down from my one vendor today. The NFL is in talks to have players at least in groups doing commercial advertising for beer now. The NFL rules individual players couldn't sponsor any beer distributions. So a commercial say the Eagles defense posing after making a big play with a Bud Light in the background will be legal to use. Also apparently the NFL and Beer industry are in talks with Chris Long to do some sort of advertising since he's a retired player and do similar stuff like Jon Gruden did and what Tony Romo does with Carona now. It's not official yet but there seems to be a lot of legs to this becoming a thing and the NFL laying off a bit on the rules for beer sale advertising with teams and players.

He did what he had too. Nothing flashy and did a few things decision making wise that won't show up on the stat sheet. It was your typical first game of preseason back up you want and he didn't make many if any mistakes

No I like him.  Hope hes ok
LOL Yeah I'm use to replying to some clown on my old board that has the Sports radio knee jerk reaction to everything I have calm down. I didn't think you meant anything by it at all. Sorry if I sounded snarky or anything as that wasn't what I meant it to be
